I stayed here for one night while attending Marit Larsen’s show on April 25, 2026, and I had a wonderful experience.
The room was comfortable, and the service was excellent throughout my stay. After checking out the next day, I asked the reception if I could spend a few hours in the common area while waiting for my bus. Instead, the receptionist checked the room availability and kindly offered to let me stay in my room until my bus departure at 5 PM. I was truly touched by this gesture. He also offered to prepare a tasting drink for me, which was both beautiful and refreshing. It’s such a thoughtful surprise.
Thank you so much for your kindness and exceptional service. If you’re visiting Ål, I recommend staying at Thon Hotel Hallingdal.

Good beds in the room, and nice that you can get more towels if needed in the hall.
Some bathrooms do not have working heating cables, so it can be a bit cold.
The breakfast has very good selection in general, and very varied. Would have liked some coarse rolls and turkey/chicken bacon.
The bread here is very good.
Good experience of the breakfast here :)
We used to stay here very often, and we like the hotel a lot.

It was self check in. We had a large room with chairs and a little table. The bunk beds were in a small adjoining room. The bed was very comfortable with a thick duvet.
The bathroom had underfloor heating. There is a supply of extra towels outside the lift.
Tea and coffee machine were in the lounge at the entrance. I asked for milk and was given a carton, which I put in the fridge in our room. No central light and plug in lights didn’t seem to work, but there were bedside lights.
Unfortunately we couldn’t have dinner in the hotel, as it didn’t cater for vegetarians.
Breakfast was varied with fresh both hot and cold dishes. There were gluten free options.
We enjoyed our stay and were able to use the lounge aftrr check out.
