Axari Hotel & Suites

I think Axari is a lovely hotel in “The People’s Paradise. ” We had a restful time and thanks to the manager, Thom, for his friendliness and graciousness.

They have nice halls for events and the hotel setting is artistic.

Thoroughly disappointed by our stay here. The hotel didn't have working power during the day and that meant no Air Conditioning while we were trying to relax in our rooms. Breakfast was also very minimal and the food at the restaurant was ok. Nothing delectable, though it was cheap by Western standards so I guess that is the trade off. Even if everything else worked, this property's lack of electricity really put a damper on our stay here and I'm glad we only stayed two nights. We want electricity 24/7, Wi-Fi, and a working AC. The rest we can cope with (no hot water, meh meals, and ok service). But the amenities have to be there in order to get a better rating than 1 star. The only positive thing about this hotel was that the wait staff were positive and optimistic people.

Best of Hotels in Calabar, with a rated 4-Star suites. Located in a convenient, serene and secured environment in the heart of town. With 24hrs light and best of luxury room, and best of reception. Also has a large, comfortable, secured parking lot. Has a large indoor and outdoor event center.

I spent three nights at this hotel and it was disappointing to say the least. Axari Hotel and Suites is located in a nice part of the beautiful city of Calabar. However, it looks like a place that was once beautiful and well furnished. To be fair, the city has had some power problems but for a hotel this good to have power rations, that was not good at all. On arrival, we had a notice that said that power would be off 5 hours each day but the hotel only gave power only at night.
The facilities were pretty bad and lacked maintenance. We had the maintenance guy in and out to fix the lots of dysfunctional items in the room.
The complementary breakfast was almost hard to access. Some days, we didn't get any. Some days it came after 10am.
The staff were generally polite but sometimes they just didn't provide real good service. I hope the situation improves but at the time of the visit, the hotel was horrible.

Good place to meet up. Quiet and serene environment easy access. But! The hotel is aging and unlike fine wine, is not aging well. Still a good place to stay. The room rates are good. And rooms okay. Good pool place. Great for outdoor events.

Looking at the hotel from the outside gives the impression of a not too good hotel but once inside, the ambience, decor and aesthetics are pleasing to the body and soul (hotel should do something about the outside painting). The staff are pleasant especially when engaged and they are willing to help. The facilities comprise a nice swimming pool and pool bar with outside sitting, a gym (that has seen better days) a restaurant with continental menu. The food is well prepared. There is 24hrs power supply and Wi-Fi is available and fast though cuts off intermittently. Parking space is available in 2 areas. There is a conference/events/church centre behind the expansive hotel. The rooms are spacious enough though some of the wooden bits of furniture seems to be falling apart. The bathroom is good, hot and cold water available. Branded toileteries. There is complimentary tea/coffee and the rooms have electric kettles. All In all a good hotel that I will definitely visit repeatedly.

It's a nice place to visit, well situated in accessible location. The rooms are cozy and the environment is serene. It has a gym, swimming pool and convenience shop. The room services are top notch and customer friendly. Easy movement around with a large parking space for vehicles. Their foods are tasty and of moderate fees. Overall, it's an environment for a get away weekend with romantic spot.

PS: I had to edit my initial review 4 years after I wrote it because the quality of services at this hotel had depreciated drastically. Poor maintenance culture and management’s nonchalant attitude towards improvement are the major problems here.
In view of this, I take back my earlier recommendation and strongly advise anyone who wishes to stay here to do a physical inspection before booking. Hopefully they take steps to renovate and fix the problems.
Shoutout to Phillips and Tom, very professional and dedicated staff members of this hotel, going above and beyond to make guests comfortable. Unfortunately, the problems are beyond their control.

Axari is like home away from home. Staff with great attitude. Warm and courteous. Always helpful. The kitchen serves mouthwatering Nigerian/Calabar dishes. The green area in the hotel is just breathtaking. They have of the biggest conference halls in the city. They are about 15mins drive from the airport. And there is free Wi-Fi! 💃 Great experience.
