Red Pepper Popoyo Hotel

The place is very cozy, clean, nice, accessible and its owners are wonderful people. :) I love this place!

The food is amazing, great service and I felt like home.

Great accomodation in Popoyo! The room was spacious with shelving for luggage, a comfortable bed, and nicely designed. The bathroom was also a generous size, with great water pressure in the shower, both the bathroom and bedroom were very clean! Shared kitchen had everything you could need for cooking, and the balcony above the room (private balcony per room) was amazing with hammocks and chairs to have your morning coffee on. We were here for two weeks, our room was cleaned and you only had to ask the hosts for fresh towels, toilet paper etc which they were quick and happy to provide. The owners Marc and Mariken are lovely, friendly people, and were always happy to help. Perfect location, 1 min walk from the beach front and close walking distance to the good surf spots. Lastly, if you stay here you must have the monday night curry — amazing! We definately recommend staying here, perfect for a couple.

We had a wonderful time with marc and marike and stayed there for 2 weeks. The place is great and the ownes are super friendly and comitted. Popoyo is a great place to stay, the area is safe and in generally all our travels in nicaragua were safe and we had a really awesome time there. Go to nicaragua… go to popoyo… and stay at red pepper :-)

Cela fait 1 mois que je voyage à travers tout le Nicaragua et je vous assure que le pays est en très bonne posture, contrairement à ce que les médias racontent, le pays est sure et on se sent à 100% en sécurité. J’ai passé 4 nuits dans l’établissement Red Pepper à Popoyo au Nicaragua et je peux vous garantir que l’endroit est magnifique, propre et apaisant. Les chambres sont confortables et la “chill zone” au première étage est incroyable. Le personnel est très sympathique et vous saura répondre à toutes vos questions. Je n’ai rien à reporocher à cet endroit!

Great hosts, very clean rooms, I absolutely recommend this place.

This place is cute. We had a sweet bedroom and private bath with kitchen facilities just off the beach. On top of this we had a rooftop patio for drinking some delicious rum cocktails in the evening. Marc and Mariken provided us invaluable insights to the local surf culture and regional politics. Marc even gave us a welcome ride to Laguna de Apoyo when our stay ended. Fabulous people. If eating in the restaurants stick to the fabulous coffee in the italian restaurant and breakfasts in the rugged little spot at the end. The restaurant on the right at the end overcharged us not once but a second time as we had the bill corrected.

Nice and new location with super nice hosts. Would love to spend there more time to surf and chill.

We had the misfortune of being there during a major storm on 10/5/17. There was extensive flooding and much of the town was damaged. Marc and Mariken, the owners, were wonderful, however. They made sure their guests and even some of the guests at other nearby hotels were taken care of. Once the flooding receded to the point that travel was possible, they also made sure everyone made it out safely. I highly recommend their hotel to anyone looking for a safe, clean, and relaxing experience close to a beautiful beach. The town will be restored soon. Viva Nicaragua!

This place is super sweet. 4 immaculate rooms designed very stylishly each with their own rooftop patio and hammock. The owners Marc and Marika are amazing and will take the time to hang out and talk with you. They recommended a great surf instructor down the street and and also restaurants. Just all around down to earth people who will make your experience incredible in Popoyo!

We stayed two nights at the Red Pepper Popoyo and we can highly recommend staying there. Marc and Mariken are two super nice hosts and the place is really well located and in a really good condition The beach is 20 meters away and everything you need is within walking distance (except an ATM).

It was the most beautiful accomodation I've been to in Nicaragua (and all in all on my travels through Asia and Central America) and we really enjoyed our stay here. Marc and Mariken are really nice hosts who will make you feel at home here. You'll find everything you need close to the hostel: 2min walk to the beach, a small supermarket with everything you need for a small dinner/drinks/snacks nearby. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to prepare a nice dinner or lunch. There is a small surf school next to the Red Pepper called Popoyo Surf Lessons where Morrie the Kiwi will give you a great introduction into surfing. I can just recommend this place to anyone who is coming to Popoyo!

The place was built recently. Has 4 rooms, double-bed. The shared kitchen. Each room has a large terrace with 2 hammocks, table and chairs. It is really cute, clean and very comfortable. (On the beach) Consigliatissimooooo!

Red Pepper is a very good option if you like to stay near the beach in Nicaragua. Marc en Mariken is a very nice Dutch couple and do everything possible to make your stay great. You can prepare your own meal here. Have a nice view to the ocean and besides surfing, you can do a lot of other activities here.

I already miss this place. Hands down, I could stay at Red Pepper forever: beautiful, comfy rooms with a very unique and cool design. Very personal place as they only have 4 guest rooms, amazingly lovely owners and as a cream of the crop: each room has its own roof terrace with cozy hammocks and ocean view!
