Affordable, clean and a nice cozy common room. The communal kitchen is well-equipped with gas stoves, ovens, filtered water, a hot water dispenser, rice cookers, salt and cooking oil.

Very comfortable and great showers. A great first hostel experience here in New Zealand.

Nice place to stay. I stayed there in 2008 and they have games room. Was fun to play jenga before sleep.

Friendly and helpful staff. Best shower I've ever had! Great kitchen, particularly that the staff clean it up daily. Loved the garden herbs for guest use. We would stay here again.

Very clean and nice hostel. But there are mostly older people and most people tend not to socialize.

Cheap and friendly housing experience, the kitchen is so big that you can play with friends from different countries to exchange cooking.

The room was nice, the common space is also great, however the plug design in the inner Cabinet is not very convenient.

Friendly and accommodating staff with generally high quality hostel facilities. Good practices and processes for labeling food, keeping out bed bugs etc. Good choice of facilities to hang out in the hostel with, as well, and more than happy to help with bookings.

The best YHA backpackers out of the 4 I have visited on this trip as of now. Very clean and comfortable rooms, well designed dining and seating areas both indoors and outdoors. As always the kitchen was clean and well provisioned. Staff was courteous and helpful 10/10 for this YHA backpakers. Cheers!

Perfectly clean hostel. The biggest kitchen I've seen in the tens of hostels I've been to. Right by several supermarkets and restaurants. The café/bar across the street has some really cool live shows. Personel were kind and attentionate. I definitely recommend this place if you're planning on staying in the Fiord region (good anchir point to Milford Sound too! ).

My favourite YHA in NZ. Stress free parking. Well equipped kitchen. Spacious room. Comfy indoor and outdoor common area. Most importantly, the mattress is very good. Love the management.

Would be beneficial if there was a designated space for each guest in dorm rooms. And more powerpoints.

Clean tidy warm and friendly. Great kitchen comfy beds linen provided and towels. Plus points they have a great cookie jar on the front desk. Great location and minutes walk fro everything in town.

Cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in! Showers were great, toilets were clean. The room was spotless and the heater worked great on the snowy night :)

As always with yha great quality. Comfy beds decent sized rooms big kitchen. And a lovely quiet area. Perfect place to stay for all the hikes in the area and for driving down to milford sound.

I had a double room with private bathroom. Rooms are clean and the shower was fantastic. The communal kitchen is well set out.

We really like the YHA in Te Anau, it had all the facilities you could hope for and was quite clean. I did wish the kitchen was a bit bigger, and the bedrooms did not have lockers, which I was really disappointed by. They did have some available for a small fee though. All together a fine place to stay.

Great hostel! The staff are friendly and welcoming and will try their best to answer any questions and to help you with planning your travel. The FREE fast Wi-Fi is a dream and rarely found in hostels, so this was a bonus. The well equipped kitchen and facilities are kept very clean and my self and many other guests shared the view that it was the cleanest hostel we have stayed in in NZ. It is very close the shops, the main bus shelter and to the lakefront making it a very convenient location. I love the sheltered outdoor eating area, the guest BBQ's and the indoor fire place. I would recommend this hostel to anyone looking for nice, friendly budget accommodation in Te Anau.

Clean! But compared to Franz Josef YHA double ensuite, it does not have in-room tea making facility, hair dryer, cups, and TV.

While I was on the Kepler Track, I befriended a fellow tramper (hiker) who mentioned how pleasant his stay had been at this particular hostel (and how fast the internet was) ; so, because I wasn't particularly fond of the previous place I stayed, I decided to give it a try. I could not be more pleased! Whatever request or question I had, the wonderful staff came to my aid. They assisted me in organizing various aspects of my travels and were cheerful every step of the way. I would recommend this place time and time again, and I look forward to staying here when I return for the Milford Track.

I didnt like my stay a lot. Cold atmosphere among the guests. Just not a real place to chill, blodless without an own character. The cooking facilities and Te Anau itself are good.

Great twin share. Clean. Comfortable. Good kitchen. Close to lake and shops.
