Lovely friendly hosts, clean and well laid out rooms, a trifle dated but we were extremely happy with our unit. Cleanliness is important to us and our expectations were met. Liked the shelf for luggage, table and chairs and a lovely sofa/bed as well as queen size. Great value for money.

Would definitely stay there again.

Good reasonably priced stay in a busy street with shops.

We were there for a week. Close to the park walking distance to the city. Good parking. Walking distance to West field shopping centre. Bus stop out the front. Restaurants up and down the street. Mobil service station within 200 metres. Spa good for after a great day out. Beds comfortable. Sky TV. Electric blankets on the bed. The only thing was the back glass door, but just close the kitchen door and its fine. Would stay again. Thank you Roger and Shelly.

This rating is purely based on customer service. I had a non-refundable room booked but was unable to get to Christchurch due to road closures on the west coast. The motel chose not to charge me for the room which was exceptionally good on their part.

Motel close to downtown and airport. The rooms are clean, the bathroom benefited a bathtub and a shower but the whole is quite monotonous. In addition the Wi-Fi connection is limited and this is often the case in New Zealand.

This place is spotless, I have never seen such clean hotel or motel. Perfect location 10 min walk to botanical gardens, 10 min walk to mall with supermarket, 30 min drive to airport.

Booked more than one night unfortunately under separate bookings. Had to cancel trip. Told them my plans changed and had to cancel trip. Didn't cancel separately under each booking thinking when I told them I was cancelling they would understand I was cancelling everything. They charged me anyway. Cancelled other bookings no problem. Would not use them.

Owners very helpful and friendly. Great location. Separate lounge area and kitchen. Like living in a small apartment. Definitely come back :-D.

Stayed here when I moved back to CHCH after the EQs, they even let me have my cat stay in the room. Clean and comfortable room and great decor.

I've stayed at the Aalton Motel twice in the last few years, both times for earthquake repairs. Iain and Jane were absolutely great. They made sure that we were happy and were fine with our dog staying with us. The rooms were beautifully clean and there were services everyday. Also despite the fact that we had gone from a house to a motel unit, we were always warm and comfortable.
The Aalton is in a convenient location; close to Hagley Park, Riccarton Mall, and a variety of restaurants. There is also a bus stop right outside, which was handy. It made getting to uni really easy.

Since the earthquake we have had two amazing stays at the Aalton being there for over 6 months in total. The Aalton became our home away from home. Iain and Jane made our stay so pleasurable They allowed us to make our unit our home. Accepted my husbands Guide dog and make him feel safe and secure in his new environment. Our daughters loved their temporary home. They made a trying time a joy Would be back if I needed and would send family and friends at the blink of an eye.

My friend and I have now stayed at the Aalton several times, usually when attending cat shows. The service is always friendly and helpful, the rooms spacious, clean, comfortable and warm. We love the FREE wireless broadband and the way the kitchen has everything you need and more (even handy towels and cling film). Extremely reasonable rates, and central to shops and restaurants. This motel scores 11 out of 10.
