We had a booking here for tomorrow but due to closing of roads around Taupo it would be impossible to get there on the scheduled date. Other accomadations have been very helpful and waived cancellation fees because of the national weather making travel generally difficult for for many of us. Instead he told us he would not waive any fee because it was the day before. I asked really, even if it's weather related? At which point he informed me he Never does. It's a shame because we go to Hanmer regularly and I would like to try this spot sometime but that level of inflexible attitude in a widely known weather dependent situation doesn't seem compatible with hospo and has put me off for good.
Just went to see if we could get a room, since the Lewis had just closed it's access, but the guy was so rude, and told us to go to one of the motels, since it was outside business hours, even though it said vacancy and open all the time. So now we are in our car with our 8 month old baby trying to find something else.
