We had a fantastic time here, the place had everything we needed and a bunch of stuff we didn't! Definitely worth it.

Lovel spot. Very friendly and interesting. Make their own bread honey butter cheese. A breakfast to die for.

We stayed at French studio and rested well in the comfort of this place amidst nature. Also watched the lord of the rings movies they had! No complains.

Clean, nice place, good house keeping service. Wi-Fi spotty though and not always able to connect. Area has pretty weak cellular signal as well.

Perfect base for exploring Waitamo Caves and Hobitton. The hosts were wonderful and the accommodation was very fitting for the locale. Would recommend for a weekend getaway!

We have stayed at many B&B's around the world and this place is easily in our top three. Not only was the Earth House a beautiful building (see my photos), it also offers the perfect balance of hospitality and privacy. The owners are available in a nearby building if you need them, but not intrusive if you want to enjoy your time quietly. Having said that, you will not regret it if you take a few minutes to chat with Alistair, who owns the Villas along with his wife Susie. Alistair may be one of the most interesting people I have ever met. He lovingly built the Earth House, brick by brick — — he even made the bricks! I could have spent hours just talking to the guy about the construction details alone. An engineer with a big gray mustache and a genuine twinkle in his eye, he was instantly likable and he made our stay unique.

This place was amazing. My only regret was that I didn't get to send more time with our host. They built everything in the Earth House, elegant and comfortable, the epitome of sustainable meets style. I was inspired and dream of seeing more places like this one day.

Lovely peaceful place, couldn't hear the traffic as set back from the road, total privacy from other people staying, private outdoor area, lovely interior. Very clean and welcoming, just missed a spa pool. I have one at home that I am in every night. Couldn't fault it. Thank you wonderful stay.

The perfect place to stay with the family in Cambridge!

We stayed in the Earthstead Villa for 3 nights and I was delighted to boast that I had the room that Gandalf The Greys had during his stay when making The Lord of The Rings!
Alistair was lovely, very friendly and accommodating. We never met his wife though. We were given fresh eggs each day from the chickens. CAMBRIDGE is a beautiful town! The privacy, ambiance and comfort of Earthstead Villa were amazing. I would definitely look to stay here again if I ever return to CAMBRIDGE. Brilliant memories of the twilight tour and banquet at Hobiton… one of the great highlights of our 2 weeks in the North Island.

Such a delightful place to stay. It exceeded our expectations in so many ways and I would book again without hesitation. Alistair and Suzie are great hosts and clearly work hard to make each stay personal and memorable. Thank you for a friendly and warm welcome along with a fabulous stay. Your property is amazing and has been a lovely home for the last 3 weeks. We really don't want to go home.

We stayed a couple of nights in the Cob Cottage also with my small Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The cottage was private, quiet and absolutely gorgeous! I love the fact it is made of sand, straw, clay and telephone poles! We had a gorgeous fresh bouquet of flowers on the breakfast bar, kiwifruit in the fruit bowl and their very own eggs in the basket, not to mention the fresh milk straight from their own cows in the fridge! The Platter we had on arrival was all from organic produce including Alistair's own cheese creation — divine! The cottages have absolutely everything you could ask for and the hosts were/are amazing. Friendly and incredibly accommodating — I would most definitely come back :-)

We were very fortunate to be the very 1st to stay there and smell of the timber was great loved the mosaic paving, the fresh country air beds very comfy, couldn't fault the place we'll be back.

We had a fantastic time at Earthstead, it was a really nice getaway for our honeymoon. We stayed in the French Studio and we loved the balance between privacy and hospitality that Earthstead provides. The food was amazing. My husband has Coeliac Disease, so we asked whether our breakfasts could be made Gluten Free — they were and it was delicious — gluten free bread, omelettes, gluten free muesli — all made on site. Terrific — would definitely recommend to anyone with dietary requirements as Suzie and Alistair are really accommodating. Thank you.

My Wife and I stayed at the Cobb Cottage on our wedding night and were blown away by the beautiful place and friendly service. We were greeted with a candle-lit atmosphere, (good) bottle of bubbles, good sized chocolate desserts and fresh baked bread. The Cottage was very clean and tidy and fitted out in a beautiful way that makes the entire place a piece of artwork. In the morning a fresh loaf of bread and hot tea were left for us on the outside table. Found in the fridge were a variety of drinks and the ingredients (and recipe) for a fantastic smoothee. We enjoyed this out of the sunny deck where it is easy to relax for the whole day. The way the place is arranged, the house and grounds are nicely private. We really would recommend this to anyone and wish we had booked in for longer. Looking forward to heading back one day.

WAS BLOWN AWAY! Booked at the last minute on the morning of our stay, so had not taken the time to read about Earthstead Villas. WOW! What an amazing experience. We stayed in the French Studio and it was absolutely luxurious with incredible attention to detail. Suzie and Alistair really do go that extra mile, with the delicious goodies awaiting you on arrival, hand picked fresh herbs for brewing a refreshing pot of tea, and the sheer divine gorgeousness of the beautiful French bed. I was totally in awe of what Suzie and Alistair have achieved at Earthstead Villas. A truly five star experience! Thank you.

WOW — I don't beleive words can do justice. The earthy beauty of the Cob Cottage is breathtaking. The bed was the best I've slept in, and set in the quiet country it was quite easily the most unique and luxurious place I have stayed. A group of us booked out both the Cob Cottage and The Earth House, it was the perfect location for a bit of a birthday shindig at night and a cooked breakfast in the morning, we got the barbeque out and had a wonderful morning sitting in the sun. We'll be back again.

Earthstead equals hospitality at its best. Suzie and Alistair are so welcoming and friendly and if you want to be treated special (in a non-intrusive way) this is definitely the place to go. Not only that Earthstead is extremely peaceful – I had the best night’s sleep ever. Both the Earth House and Cob Cottage both have their own unique characters and the stories of their inception are most interesting – be sure to ask. Earthstead provides quality, luxury accommodation with added extras that make your stay such a delight you will never want to leave. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and family with confidence.

Fantastic place to stay! Very luxurious with a wonderful homely feel. Baby friendly with a great cot/bassinet for bubs. Loved the open plan layout and the beautiful adobe bricks. This is our 3rd visit and already looking forward to many more. Fully recommend this hidden gem.

We really loved the warmth of the Lodge — the adobe bricks gave the place a lovely light feel. Al and Suzie were great, friendly and helpful. Nice amenities and we were given good privacy. All in all a great place to stay. Recommended.
