Booked a private ensuite room for my son and I. Really nicely laid out with towels etc. And tea and coffee, kettle and fridge. Free 30mins in the spa was a bonus. We’ll be back for sure.

Great staff& good prices whatever your budget is.

Fabulous place. Amazing scenery and close to so many things for day trips. Wonderful staff and a great range of accomodation. Thanks so much for having us.

I must be honest after I read the bad review on here I was a bit hesitant. But so glad we stayed here! We were two families of four that stayed and really enjoyed our time here. Super family friendly and the staff were excellent and helpful especially suggesting activities to do with kids in not so great weather. Great facilities and the spa was fab too. It was lovely and warm with the fire roaring the whole time with a cosy atmosphere. We will definitely be back, and hopefully strike it lucky with the weather. Thanks so much!

Absolutely terrible service. Would NEVER go back and have warned all my friends and NZ camping pages I am a part of to steer clear. My daughter had an accident in their spa this week — loose headrest and required stitches — the owners absolutely took no responsibility for their part in this. That’s ok — worksafe have been contacted. The husband Zeus is an absolute head-case — he was just awful on so many levels — horrible, aggressive and rude. How they even manage to keep their doors open when this is how they treat people is beyond me. I implore you to read all the reviews especially their Facebook reviews before considering staying here — the reviews confirm my experience of horrid and aggressive behaviour. If you place value on good customer service as I do then don’t bother booking here! If I could give them a negative star rating out of 5 they would be getting a — 5 for my overall experience. Shame on them for their poor attitude about their faulty spa — I only hope it doesn’t happen to another poor kid or family. The owners will likely try say some rubbish that they went over and beyond for me as they told me they had done because they had shown me how to use a complicated gas oven I wasn’t familiar with — ok then. Would have thought that’s just part of your job running a business! Get a clue. I was in shock at your crappy attitude on the day but rest assured I am not a woman or mother who mucks around — hope worksafe sort you out.

Great quality at a great price.

Beautiful, modern, well appointed motor lodge in the Tongariro national park. Peaceful. Hot spa. Excellent well equipped kitchen in the unit. Such utter peace after our awful experience elsewhere the night before. Friendly reception. Good parking. Massages available too, apparently.

Terrible experience with plateau lodge, first they overbooked us and had no room, which meant they sent us to another hotel, day of arrival get to other hotel only to find our room had been cancelled, phone plateau lodge, find out that a room had become available there but no one had bothered to communicate this with us! Then after check out they charge me for two nights instead of one, staff member was very rude and unapologetic about this! Would definitely not go back there or recommend anyone else to.

Nice and tidy, room got cleaned while we were out each day which we weren't expecting. Good location to go to either ski slopes. On arrival the front desk gave us plenty of information about the area and for what we were looking at doing. WIll be back.

Amazing place! My cousins and I were touring the country, we didn't pre-plan anything but were very lucky to stay at this lodge for a very cheap price. The management and receptionist were so welcoming and warm, after being on the road for a couple hours, this was awesome to come in to. It was the definition of top service. We loved that the hallways and especially our room was nice and warm before we arrived. The spa pool is amazing! If you have a chance for a quick dip, book it! We also enjoyed the friendly environment from both staff and visitors. The lounge/dining area is very open and has a cool relaxed environment. We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this!

Perfect. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Fancy common area and kitchen. We stayed in our camper van for two night in winter. The owners are warm hearted and the free spa helps to warm up yourself even at cold nights. Thank you.

Had a short stay while we did the crossing. While the weather could have been better the lodge was perfect. Clean showers and toilets and a well equipped kitchen. The woman in reception was very helpful and sorted out our shuttle for the following morning. Will come back when the weather is better.

Great place to stay. Unfortunately we could get booking in spa after long day up the mountains. Very tidy and friendly.

Really enjoyable stay, always warm rooms and very clean. Short drive to ski field and local rental shops also short walk to cafes and restaurants.

If is was not for the horribly rude staff I would recommend it. Came back from walk only to be told they had no power because of planned work. If you have planned work then you advise your customers in advance not just tell them while it is happening. Many many unhappy customers all wanting to leave.

We loved this lodge. Great room, clean, cozy, warm and great value for money. Showers were great, having a sink in the room is a nice touch and the free hot tub was a lovely bonus! This is a small site so the facilities are limited. One washer/dryer, 2 showers 2 toilets a little in need of renovation. Nice spa pool and helpful staff. Great location for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Nice play to stay before you head out to Tongariro National Park. They have a shuttle service that will conveniently pick you up and take you to the park and pick you up from there too. Everything is clean, perfect stay.

We paid for two in the Campervan per night $40. Rooms can also be rented. There are, among other things, kitchen, lounge, washing machine, dryer, two showers each and two toilets and a whirlpool, which one can reserve once per stay for a half hour free of charge. Unfortunately, there is no dump station.

A very nice and clean place. The kitchen facilities are excellent and kept clean. The rooms are simple but clean and comfy (a little small). The shared toilets and showers were also kept immaculate. All staff were friendly and helpful and the spa was to die for after a long day walking. It is also walking distance to the Scnapps bar which has excellent meals.

Really nice set-up. Simple and clean. Bathroom was modern and tidy. Thin walls unfortunately through the rooms and people were thoughtless slamming doors. Overall good value for money.

We were happy with this place, as a low-mid range type accommodation. Nice communal bathroom layout. Each bathroom is separated, private and contains a toilet and shower. Was nice and clean. Friendly counter staff.

This campground is ok if a bit pricey for the charmless, small and no-privacy campervan sites. Amenities are clean. Strangely there's a spa (good) but no waste water disposal for campervans (bad).

Great accomodation before and after your Tongariro Crossing hike! We spent two nights in a campervan here on one of the powered sites and believe this mountain gem to be among the top camping sites we visited in the whole of NZ. It is a friendly and family driven campsite with both indoor and outdoor accomodation. It is a relatively small site compared to other holiday parks, so you can enjoy the mountain view in peace and quiet. Mt. Tongariro is only a 30 min drive away, and the compulsory shuttle does stop by next to the site on demand. Be sure to book this service in advance. All facilities are clean, there is optional Wi-Fi on the premises and a 30 min luxurious bath in a private, wooden tub is included. Breakfast and lunch packs can be purchased, and there are some small and cozy stores/restaurants close by. All in all, it was a very positive experience. Highly recommended!

Nice campsite, friendly staff and everything is clean and tidy. Kitchen is well supplied with pans, pots and utensils. A bus service is offered in case you want to do the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

The lodge is expensive but is more like a youth hostel. It does not provide any amenities like shampoos or room cleaning service and you have to share bath and shower facilities. The lodge is a wood structure so the noise from the movement of people get transmitted to every room. It could get noisy starting at 5am when people wake up to catch the first shuttle bus out. Therefore it is not good value. Nevertheless the rooms are clean and the common facilities are clean. There is a small sink in each room. Also it arranges shuttle bus service to and from the starting and end point of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing which draws most of the people to the park in the summer. Another helpful service they provide is to provide you with a lunch package for your hike for 12 NZD per person. Since there are limited food options in this town called National Park, this service comes in handy. There is no free Wi-Fi and you need to purchase a coupon to access.

Nice staff, excellent shuttle service to the Tongariro Crossing, modern bathroom, whirpool.

Booking this shuttle service is not worth the money. They claim you can park your car in their safe car park. But you end up parking on the street in front of the building. Furthermore they somehow can't decide on their service terms. We took a different route in the national park and were too late for the last shuttle. We called the service and a women told us not to worry, they would pick us up anytime without additional costs and wouldnt leave anyone behind. When we finished the track we were left behind. They wanted us to pay 150 dollars extra. We had to ask some other guys to take us to our car 30 km away. We confronted the owner of the service. He was really unfriendly, accused us and asked us to leave his property. Guys, dont use shuttles. They are too expensive. There are security parking lots at the end of every track, simply park your car there and enjoy the hiking.

Website for the shuttle is faulty, they advertise and take money for services that are unavailable! Customer serrvice is very rude (calling customers 'hun' in a condescending tone is not acceptable).

Very clean… Spa pool is great… Wi-Fi not available in apartments, you can purchase Wi-Fi but only accessible in communal kitchen area. Would recommend.

Superb brand spanking new spa. A certain treat after a day at the mountain. Lovely hosts with accommodation that will suit various budgets.

No traffic noise. Rooms are warm. Beds are very comfortable. Spa is great. Close to everything. Shops/eateries are within walking distance. (We came by bus). A ph call to plateau lodge brings them to where you are. If there is a down side it can only be you have to make sure you have milk for cereals. Wonderful staff. Oo & the shower pressure is to die for! Wish I had that at my place.

Really great place to stay. Nice private rooms. Well cleaned and equiped. They have kitchen in the apartment. Hot tub is the thing you are looking for after Tongariro Crossing. Helpful staff at the reception. Will stay again.

I would give 5 out of 5 in lodge category. Head a pleasant stay. Room was nice and clean and for a $5 you can buy 24h internet ticket for 2 devices. I like when owners put their soul into the service. They were super helpful and anyways available. Option to use hot tub was nice bonus!

Went there with a camper van, it was really nice! The bathrooms were extremely clean (with perfect hot showers). The shuttle service to Tongariro Alpine track is really also pretty useful which makes this site a good place to stay before doing the walk. One minor inconvenience: there is no dump site, it's in the village at a 5-minutes drive.

Great room. Very convenient. Excellent welcoming female manager. The man in the house however was very aggressive and abusive when I asked about the drying room. After placing our ski gear in there overnight and requesting the key at 10am to get it back he informed me that he'd turned it off as it was a waste of money to run it for such a small amount of gear. That's fine but we then had wet gear for the next day. No apologies just a stiff sh attitude. The lady I'd lovely to deal with but don't waste your breath on the "man" of the house.

The hot tub was a fantastic treat after a day of hiking the Tongariro Alpine crossing. They offer shuttle service to the crossing and one of few holiday park type options for campervans in the area. Facilities were brand new and very clean.

Be careful — Plateau Lodge charged me twice for the two nights we stayed here 19-20 April 2016 — once via the BBH website when I booked, and again when I stayed. I contacted them when my credit card bill arrived a few weeks later with the double payment, I gave them all details and they assured me they would pay it back and contact me when they did so. One month down the track and I haven't heard anything and no refund has been lodged back to my credit card as promised. Very disappointed. Very poor customer service. I have left another phone message for them and hope they will get in contact.

Best value for money — amazing people and not expensive — if you are doing the crossing or heading up the mountain and want great value for money — stay here.

From the moment we arrived the owners were exceptionally helpful with guidance and advice on activities in the area. Their daughter who makes the breakfasts and lunches was also very friendly and helpful, and we all enjoyed the meals. Especially the packed lunches which are very handy when hiking. We stayed in a family size room with two separate bedrooms (4 adults). Everything was clean and well kept. The dishwasher was a nice addition, but the bathroom lacked a hair dryer. Wifi is expensive ($10 for 100MB) which is the bane of my travels! 2 minutes walk from the local pub that makes decent value meals, and 15 minutes drive from Whakapapa village. Would be happy to stay here again, recommended.

Second time I have stayed at the Lodge and both times had a great holiday. Everything is run really well. Very comfortable and homely. Nothing too much trouble. Thanks very much. Hope to be back.

Very clean, good price, stuff very friendly and helpful. Cheap shuttle and spa for free. Perfect to enjoy the np arround or relax.

We rented a room with a double bed and our own bathroom. It was very cozy and very clean. Enjoyed the stay.
