Spa Lodge Hostel

Wow so impressed! Love the culture, love the consistency-being a former Beauty therapist it was a beautiful experience from bathing to having a massage, to having lunch in your cafe to when we left. My friend and I had a spectacularly gorgeous time celebrating our birthdays! 😍 Thank you team 👏

Nice quiet experience. Water hot and beautiful. Not that expensive for two entries. Will make a stopover in Rotoroa again just to visit the spa.

1. Romantic Delux Package was not cheap I might add! 2. Massage was non existent, was just like being rubbed with oil! I was asked if I have any allergies and said I have very sensitive skin! But after getting back to our accommodation I was in severe pain and massive rash! 3. Walking in our robes through the customer's to private pools was horrible and not really ideal. 4. All in all was not a great experience 😔 NO RESPONSE FROM EMAIL!

Lovely views quite and relaxing environment. Nice and clean.

Spa pools great but the massage was unprofessional. Literally just rubbed oil in. More irritating than relaxing. So wouldn’t recommend massage. Staff in general need to be trained to be more friendly. Great facilities but poor service.

Beautiful mineral pools. So relaxing. Very quiet at 5pm during the week.

Family pool 🤮 37° pool was green with a massive scum ring around the side. 40° pool floor slimy as unclean.
main pool looked dirty and the floor was slimy. All 3 need scrubbing out. Lake view spa was nice but could have been cleaner for the price.

The oil used for the massage; amazing. My body is feels rejuvenated after being in the mineral pool and a massage afterwards.

Awesome massage and treatment by our two ladies, very professional and throughly enjoyed every minute.

Got there at 9:15 pm but got kicked out by a very unfriendly asian lady. Felt very unwelcomed. If the website could point out specifically last entry time that would be great; also would appreciate if the staff could be more friendly as we felt embarrassed when getting there just in time but were refused entrance.

Went here with my wife for our wedding anniversary and had the soak / massage / private pool / lunch experience. Beautiful, clean facilities, lovely staff, and the best couple’s full-body massage either of us has ever experienced! We’ll be going back for sure!

My daughter and I booked a lake view pool on our way home from a week camping. Amazing way to finish the week! Staff were really polite and friendly. I will definitely be back.

Lovely pool environment, very clean and professional. Would love to try out the other pools, etc one day nxt visiting Ruapehu.

Was not happy! place was a mess, bed sheets had stains, blankets smelt like old cigarettes, heater didnt work. Shower & sinks were disgusting! Shower only dribbled boiling hot water, 1x pillow per person. No towels available. Had other permanent residents drinking & smoking right outside our room off & on through the night. Not much sleep! Asked for credit card details so by the time we arrived it was to late to cancel. Feeling absolutely ripped off. Spoiled our holiday! Wish I had shopped around first.

Basic hostel. Clean and tidy. Matress I slept on was saggy.

Nothing fancy but I loved the natural hot tub. Two kitchen spaces are handy. Water pressure in showers great. Helpful and friendly staff and generally a friendly vibe amongst travellers here. Wifi was ok. Kept dropping.

Basic but nice. Freindly staff although seemed rushed and flustered. Not the cleanest hostel I've stayed in or the best kept but is on a basic level. Basic amenities are included. Not too bad for the price.

Great spot near shops and restaurants. Free street parking is available in front of the lodge from 2:30pm-11am. Free parking anytime on the other side of the street. Showers could use a bit of an update but they are just fine for a few nights stay.
