Clean and fresh. Great value for the price. Didn't use the kitchen or common areas as a quick stop.

Good location clean large kitchen and lobby.

This was my first experience staying at a YHA hostel and I absolutely loved it. The staff are very courteous, respectful, and super helpful. I could do an early check-in and use the common areas until the standard 2 PM time. The kitchen was clean, cutlery neatly organized, all guest's food labeled and kept on the shelf. I stayed in a 4 bed, all girls room. The room had an attached toilet and a separate shower area. Surprised that there wasn't any door for it, just a curtain! Fun place to meet other fellow travelers. Highly recommended place!

A clean and comfortable place, but it should be cheaper.

Nice clean Rooms, friendly staff, but the bathrooms weren‘t that nice. No hooks or shelfs in the shower.

Clean hostel. Room and spacious common areas, good bedding. 15min from the Center and shops.

Cozy place with great spaces to hang out. Good location for party people and reasonable prices. Includes breakfast which was nice. Only downside was that there were barely any AC in our room so we had to keep our window open — so the party people were right outside and the traffic was quite noisy.

Friendly check in. Good facilities, including two kitchen areas, TV lounge, two lounges, outdoor deck area, library area, laundry, clothes line. Great location just off Auckland's main street. Though it is up a short very steep street. Rooms were very warm during my stay. Some dorm rooms have ensuite. The room I was in was a little small for four people. Only other down side was the main lounge area had no comfortable places to sit. Just large padded boxes to sit on. Needs some couches.

Clean, but the single room with own shower is just extremely noisy with an air conditioner which cannot be turned off. At this price, couples should really consider to spend a few more dollars and stay in a quiet hotel. Staff also seems to be on auto-pilot, meaning they don’t adjust their chattiness to overtired guests.

Conveniently located just off Queen St. The rooms are comfortable. Having a safe with plugs inside is a plus. The kitchen is great, the TV and reading room really comfy. The rooms could be cleaner (clogger showers, dirty floors).

This YHA is clean and quiet in the centre of Auckland. The amenities are good, they have a very large kitchen, fridges and shelves etc which is convenient. There are a several mostly Asian restaurants around which is handy.

Great Hostel, very clean, friendly Staff, central, large Kitchen, good Wifi. Unfortunately, without Breakfast Options and few soial Offers organized by The Hostel.

Excellent in every way.

This hostel is just great. I only can argue that the hostel is a little bit far away from a regular supermarket. There are some japanese or chinese markets around if you like them.

Decent hostel but pricey just like everything else in Auckland. $60 bucks will get you a twin room $90 will get you a queen bed without sharing a bathroom. Kitchen is huge, if you share a bathroom expect to wait to use the toilet and shower. Overall it's a nice hostel but Airbnb probably has better accommodations for the same price. It sucks you only get 2Gb of internet a day. I went through mine in a couple hours.

I stayed for a night at the hostel, but I have nothing to complain. Sympathetic staff, room, bathroom and kitchen clean and good location.

This YHA is in a good location for exploring the city. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The facilities were clean and well maintained. A good sized kitchen is provided but there is limited dining space. The bedrooms are quite crampt and there are not enough toilets or showers compared to the number of beds.

Nicely refurbished YHA with well thought out and appointed rooms, be aware the rooms are very cramped. Common facilities are spacious, clean and well furnished. Limited bathroom facilties and no hooks or bench in the shower I used. Bathrooms are cramped but clean.

These was the cheapest accommodation we could find that was in the closest to the Queens Street and the venues we were going to. We were happy with the service and it gave us a place to stay and sleep at the end of the day. I misunderstood the description of the room and booked very tiny room with a single bed, but the staff helped us move to a better room the next day. A guy collapsed in the lobby while we were there and the young staff was rattled she didn't know what to do so we called the ambulance from my friend's mobile. I wrote to management about the incident and they said that they will see to it that staff is well trained for this sort of thing. I really admire management for responding quickly.

Good backpackers, good price, comfortable rooms, with private bathroom and TV. It has laundry, dining room and kitchen. Location a few blocks from downtown Auckland.

It's quite narrow and small for such a big building and especially the heavy fire doors are the most uncomfortable thing in this hostel. It's clean though and you get a nice from the higher levels.

If you have a lot of luggage, u should think the international yha, more close to town and not need to walk the ramp, And this yha when. You check out, you can't save you luggage in store room.

Reasonable price and pro service. On the city bus cirle.

It's a really big hostel (7 floor building), that's why it's really anonymous and not to good to get in touch with people. How good your room is depends on your luck, you can get a room on the 7th floor with a nice view across the city, or a room on the 1st floor, backyard-view and running air-conditioning in front of the window. Kitchen is really big and well equipped, that's a big pro.

Very close to the main street of the city, good kitchen but very small (rooms and toilets…) … also very clean.

Clean, comfortable and well situated. A good place to stay for few days in Auckland.

Calm, quiet and organized.

Small rooms, no noticeboard, and about 2 km's from the harbour. There are plenty of other places closer to the city centre, for the same price or less. Not recommended.

Private rooms were sorta small like a jail cell without bars. About 8 x 10 feet. Bathrooms a little small and not private except one crapper on the floor with the outside deck — 4th floor I think just inside the deck. Towl 'rental' is a dollar if you go for the dorm room style. I was in a 'private' room but a guy charged me a dollar before I knew there shouldn't have been a charge. Only good thing about using the internet there is using skype or some type of voip to phone home. I went to the japanese place the above person talked about and it is pretty tasty. People are pretty nice. I don't think i'd stay there again. after that, we went to rotorua and paihi and then to sydney and stayed at the yha's there. Those are a lot nicer — especially the one in sydney but a hotel room is not too much more. If you go to the one in sydney, try a bacon tomato pizza at the sydney hotel — they're awsome! maybe it was just this one — kinda run down and unappealing but an okay experience.

This YHA is a bit meh. Tiny rooms, tiny beds, tiny showers, and not very many of them, tiny amount of water pressure. Then again I am like 6'3 so maybe everything seems tiny to me but after staying in the Queenstown YHA I was pretty excited about this one. The location is sweet but it's sort of on the wrong end of Queen Street. All the action takes place down near Britomart, so after drinking a bit you'll need to stumble back up Queen Street to get home. Friendly service though. Oh and one more thing everyone slams their doors in the morning. Stop it.

While the location is convenient, when I arrived I wanted to take a shower and found one to two showers per floor only, one of which on each floor was completely non-private. These were ill-kept and cramped (one didn't drain properly) and would have been tough for anyone over my height (5 feet 4 inches). I had to go to a different floor to use a shower with a functioning drain that wasn't already in use. Wireless access is by payment and is extremely patchy, you can really only use it in the kitchen/dining area on the ground floor. I don't recommend this place if you want to be somewhere with pleasant character and clean facilities.
