Aside from the place looking very very run down… they are lazy enough and negligent to not fix their raw sewage and let it go directly into the gulf! Totally inexcusable and the owner and management should be held to account. Pathetic.

Definitely a well-kept secret. Stayed here Tuesday night. Awesomely large rooms opened out onto lawns running down to the sea. Very quiet and peaceful.

Good course. Conditions can be very hit and miss. I played on a very muddy day.

Not great in winter very muddy grounds. Toilets werent in top gear. A toilet paper holder in womans was broken and held together by clear cellotape. Very tacky.

Really enjoyed Formosa. Good facilities and course.

Beautiful golf course, very wet and the bunkers are in a very bad state grass/weed growing in bunkers. Will definitely go back and play in the summer.

All part of my process of becoming fulfilled with enrichment and appreciating the family and friends I have in my life. Its not in me to be so self absorbed yet… no more!

Quality of the course was reasonable given the amount of rain we've had. Great walk and scenery with some real challenging holes. Pity about the 'no cash out' policy even though I purchased a breakfast as wanted to flick in $2 for 2's… that doesn't make sense for trying to get improved membership… if it's too hard why go there. If the system doesn't allow it then check the 'system'…

What potential. This was clearly a fabulous golf course in its prime but unfortunately it has lost some of its sparkle. Fantastic coastal vistas and challenging tee positions. If it were to get the TLC it deserves…

Course in awful condition, still full rates being charged. A disgrace.

We were here for a small wedding. The view was very attractive with rolling golf course and palms. The staff were helpful and kind. The three course lunch was attractively presented. There was a good variety offered for a small set menu. Parts of it were very tasty.

Amazing design. Most greens in good condition. No bunkers playable as no sand and left to grow over. In the dry it's worth playing. Looks like they have 1 or 2 ground staff as in quite a bit of dis-repair.

Good course this will b at its full glory once bunkers come back into play.

Site still exceptional but requires to be renovated entirely sports complex including. Close to Auckland by very convenient boats.

Now worth the money. A run down resort were doors are missing in showers and toilets, tape to hold the light switch down and a pool that hasn’t been cleaned in 3+ years. It’s a now frickin way from me.

This is the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Shower had not been cleaned, pubic hair on the floor and walls mould and mildrew on the dirty tiles in shower. Water marks on shower door and surrounding area. Carpet not hoovered, cigeratte butts outside on patio as well as four empty beer bottles!. This hotel is more like a cheap motel went into the bar to order food but had to wait as someone sitting outside was using their only menu. Very wisely we decided to eat else where. Gardens all overgrown, the owners should be ashamed of themselves they had managed to turn a beautful hotel into a dump. Very badly run and dirty. Very disappointed I would not recommend this dirty run down hotel to anyone. Needs to be rerated as a 2 star hotel.

For what I paid, I guess it is ok… But is being run into the ground, yet has the potential to be so nice.

This place is horrible! It would of been a nice place one day but has just been let go. I feel sorry for Sir Bob Charles for having his name associated with this dump. The villas are spacious and have a nice view but that's probably the only good thing about them. The shower was probably the dirtiest shower I've ever been in! Dirt and grime everywhere. Same as the toilet. Half the light bulbs didn't work and everything was broken. Jug had mould in the bottom of it which was replaced and to top it off the people in the villa next to us were smoking inside and the smell was coming through the doors joining the two villas. Pretty sure these were friends of the owners living in there as the girl I checked in with was visiting them that night. Only stayed one night here and I'm glad I did because couldn't of done another one in there. I've been backpacking through the uk and Europe and have never had such a bad hotel experience. Never again! Heard a rumour after the owner is trying to run the place into the ground so they can sell the land. She's doing a good job.

Guys let's be realistic. The weather has been terrible over the last couple weeks and playing yesterday in the heavy wind and loosing 10 balls due to hitting it in the rough or losing it in the soft ground was part of the fun. Golf was the winner at the end of the day. We did not use our scorecards and simply enjoyed the conditions just like everyone else did. The front 9 needed a cut, but the ground in places was too soft to cut. You will have the same conditions on any other course. They can't control the weather and it's conditions. People all round were kind and friendly. Will be back in summer. Thank you for an amazing experience and view.

Need to update their website as this doesn't portray what the actual course is like. A form of false advertising.

An absolute abomination of a course. Nothing to what website says. Looks like who ever owns it dont care for nothing. Only giving one star cause I have too.

Was really looking forward to playing at this iconic course after booking online. Got told that we couldn't take the cart on the fairways or greens and to stay on the path as "it's a bit wet" which was fine. But OMG, that was an understatement. From the very first hole, as soon as walk off the tee or green you were walking through a very soft swamp. Every shot no matter what kind would be sucked into the ground and you literally had to dig your ball out every single time. Basically unplayable and many people left had way through. Very disappointing.

Peaceful weekend away and you don't have to play golf either. Lol. Might do with a microwave in the room. And sky on the TV. Maybe more than 500mb of Wi-Fi.

Challenging golf course with breathtaking views of the harbour. The course and clubhouse needs some TLC to return it to past glories.

My first ever wedding photo job was here! Great food as usual. Staff are also very nice and helpful!

I would like to take this moment and thank the Formosa Golf resort staff, specially the event manager "Eva Liu" for her hard work to make my dream wedding a succefull one, She has done everything really nicely and looked after my guests very well. I didnt have any stress at all. I would highly reccomend Formosa for any kind of Function or Wedding. Food was really nice & staff were very friendly. Location is magnificent that can not even think about any other place to compare with it. Thank so much and Good luck for the new Management! EVA LIU Love you so much!
