Staff are great here.

15$ rump steak great calamari cold beer and friendly staff.

Close to work, very accessible and friendly atmosphere.

Good friendly bar staff, great decor, good food and drink menu. One of Auckland iconic bars.

Stayed one night. Very basic rooms. Ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. All food was fabulous! right on top of central bus depot!

Nice vintage place. Shower was a little small for someone my height. Was a nice stay and very handy location.

Perfect location and well priced! We had a group of 11 of us in total and this accommodation worked really well. We were not needing decadence and as the price reflects they don't pretend to be 5 star. The room was clean and tidy and the bed comfortable. It's on a main road so expect road noise. It's above a pub, very handy for pre and post concert drinks but again you will hear some noise. Only gripe was running out of hot water for my shower. Would suggest getting up earlier or brace yourself lol.

Stayed there in mid summer. Cockroaches came out of a hole in the wall above the bed when I was sleeping. Walked across the pillow and my face. First one or two, I just killed them and tried to go back to sleep. They kept coming. Complained to staff about it and they moved us to a new room. In the morning they refunded half my money as compensation. Pretty gross experience, but at least they gave something back.

Owners and staff go out of their way to make sure you have the best time in Aukland. Good location. Short walk to everything. Rooms nice and excellent Wi-Fi.

Great stay! Really clean room and comfy bed. Love the ambience and letting us check out later is a plus.

Wasn't going to post a review but visited this place over a month ago with a work voucher. Didn't even end up using it all as the experience put us off. From the bar staff chatting when we were waiting to be served to the wrong food being delivered and when we advised we were told the menu had not been updated but the items had changed. It would have been nice to let us know before hand rather than bringing out something completely different. I let work know who emailed them about my experience and didn't even get a reply.

Don't want book this hotel again! There is a bar just downstairs. They play very noise music even after 3:00am and I can't sleep! If you want a good sleep don't choose this hotel!

I experienced both the hotel and the pub/restaurant downstairs and was dissatisfied with the service, the food and the hotel room. -Hotel: upon initial inspection the room appeared clean, but then you start to notice things like the ceiling and the bathroom with old moldy fixtures. I got stuck in the bathroom because the door handle stopped working and I injured my shoulder attempting to opening the door. I also visited during a cold/wet season and there was no heater in the room so I had to buy a space heater to heat my room. — Restaurant: unfriendly bar staff, I was one of a few visitors and it still took over 30 min for my simple fish and chips to arrive. And when they finally arrived my chips were cold. It's remarkable that the place is still running with subpar quality in the venue, service and staff. -SUMMARY: avoid both the hotel and the bar/restaurant unless you're looking for stories to tell other travelers.

Perfect place to stay when you adventure New Zealand. Great staff, service and bartenders. Thank you all, cant wait to return.

I love iconic heritage buildings and this is one of the oldest iconic hotels in the heart of Auckland City. I could see how this place was once a stunning place to come to however it looks like its been let down a bit… which saddens me to see. Came here for dinner. I had the beef salad which was so delicious I'd gladly order it again. My partner ordered the fish & chips it was ok and the jalapeño poppers aren't what I expected they are just a ball of cream cheese. I wish this place could be put back to how it was and be around forever.

Don't waste your money because they sure haven't in any sort of keep up or updating. Beds were awful! Lump and uncomfortable and when my husband booked it didn't specify bed size so of course 2 6ft tall adults walked in to find a double bed and 2 single beds? I was shocked. This place is old, stuffy and the bathroom was gross. Not to mention if it says family friendly and you rock up with a pram and theres no elevator and there is a grungy bar on the main floor I'd have to disagree. There is many other things I could point out if I was to be picky but I believe I've made my point. Not worth $165 for a night that is certain. To be fair I will say the staff were polite and helpful.

The best of all is the central location opposite the Sky Tower. Friendly and friendly staff, especially in the lower floor bar, with great kindness to enjoy good drinks and live music. The decor was very good and the room was very good. The cleanliness is acceptable.

Old school pub. Clean and tidy but tied. Bed was a little firm for me but the pillow was great. Very noisy area, lots of street noise in our front corner room. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Great area, walking distance to Queen St, the Viaduct and Sky City is across the road. No on site parking but a Wilson Carpark across the road $12 for 12 hours, cheaper if you sign up to their app.

Perfect for a night on the town, right in the city, has the basics for a night or two.

We liked the place, it's in front of the Sky city building and the intercity bus stop (the one that takes you to Hobbiton). Our room was suprinsingly quiet at night and the girl at the reception was really nice and open to answer all our questions. The ground floor offers dinner from 6 to 9 and has a variety of drinks. The only problem could be that it doesn't have a lift.

A good hotel in the absolut center of town! A lot of construction right next to it when I was there, and during the nights the noise from outside was very loud. And no elevator (the house is old). But the room was really good and I truly enjoyed my stay.

Service is great and the beer was cold.

Cheap accommodation in the city centre. No elevators. We had a rather dated large room without windows but with a recent coat of paint. Not unexpected given the cost of the room. The air conditioner in our room was great. It kept the room in a comfortable temperature and humidity.

Place was terrible, there was no parking, guy behind the counter aka the bar could barely speak english and said we could park in a tow away area across the road, there was also someone throwing up on the front steps, we refused to stay and went and booked into somewhere else, would not recommend this place, also there is no lift in the building.

Incredibly noisy until very late at night. Hot. Grubby bathroom. Very few redeeming features.

Decent for what you pay for. Simple room. Bar and games downstairs. Great location close to the casino and sky tower.

Can be loud with the traffic outside. Bathrooms could do with a spruce up. Good location, friendly staff. Clean.

Nice place to stop for quiet beer during day while visiting Auckland city. Has a gaming room, pool table, t. A. B screens, live sports big screen and couch area to relax and chat with friends. Downside is smokers have to go outside onto street footpath to smoke. Cleanliness 9/10 (daytime) Staff 10/10

The quality of room is acceptable. We stayed here for 2 weeks and paid about $1100 (NZ). Quite good. There is a bar in the hotel too but not really noisy. Staff are nice, especially receptionists and bartenders.

Different people have different thoughts but as a customer I am very satisfied with what I was served. I have been there more than couple of times with my group of colleagues and were treated very well with good music. This place is something where you should visit after a stressful day at work. A+

The hotel was as described and was completely reasonable for the price. Location was great as well just a walk across the road to the casino. It is to note that rooms were very warm.
