Very nice small hotel. Just there is no lift and you may have trouble to reach the rooms.

Friendly service, the price is suitable for self-help travel, not far from Chinatown, transportation light rail is very convenient room simple and bright.

Nice hotel, recently refurbished or renovated, very clean and bright rooms, no any bad smell like in other hotels, tea and coffee is inside rooms; very nice staff, location is also good, just 15-20 minutes walk from the city centre, but if you prefer public transport — around the corner is tram stop, metro. River is also not so far away. Recommend!

Friendly personnel, and proactive in helping (taking luggage, offering drinks, map with locations etc) The rooms are basic, but not particularly small. Bathroom is a bit cramped but doable. There is no elevator but if you need help with luggage the personnel will help. Location is simple to reach since Rotterdam is fairly well connected. If looking for the basics, which I was, this place is definitely a recommendation.

Very cozy staff is very friendly love the place only complaint is that the room was kinda cold and they fixed it as soon as they could recommended.

I love the hotel and the staff was very nice the lobby is cozy and comfortable but the room was very cold, I mean there was a storm during our visit so that might justify it but they should fix that other it was great.

Cozy small hotel with attentive and helpful staff. Rooms were simple and clean. Included TV. Cafes and grocery are nearby.

I'm surprised by the reviews of others here. This hotel is very average. The "design" elements look cheaply done, and you've seen them all a hundred times before. Bed was hard and shower was low quality. Honestly this place doesn't really cut it for me. Wouldn't stay here again.

Nice hotel! Rooms are small but good for one night.

We had a nice stay. The room seemed clean, staff were nice and helpful, Wi-Fi had a strong signal, nice location, the rooms had a decent amount of space, but the shower was a bit small, and access to laundry.

My room had a bad smell, but otherwise everything perfect!

The rooms were Clean and tidy, it was relatively quit at night, and the beds were very comfortable.

Work on our arrival Hotel: dust, noise, smell horrible! Window open in the room when we arrived and the heat turned off: not friendly! Twin bed while we were a couple, not practical.
A lot of crossing the street, poorly insulated window.
The hotel Emma is a three star? It doesn't look like any! Disappointed!

Went there in January for the Rotterdam film festival and 4 of us booked 2 rooms, one at the Hilton and one at City Hotel. LOVED City Hotel! It was even better than the Hilton, and I would know since we booked a room there too! In fact, the Hilton had no breakfast so my friends bought instant noodles. But they charged 9 euros for a fork to be brought up! At first I thought that it was a farther walk from the central than other hotels, which meant longer travelling time to and fro cinemas and the central in general. Also, we were a bit worried about going back late at night because of the neighbourhood. There was also a steep staircase that meant trouble with my bags and they didn;t make the rooms. But the lovely amenities and the scenic walk more than made up for the inconveniences. The owner gave us the big, white, clean quadrauple room, which we didn't know existed and the bathroom is warm as there is a heater in there as well. The large glass windows offer a nice view as well. City hotel includes breakfast, which consisted of tasty cold cuts on warm toast and lovely tea/coffee that the owner himself serves to you. I miss that breakfast. You also get 2 keys. One for the main door and one for your room. I was amused by the one for the main door, which had a smiley face when the door was unlocked.
