Waterberg Guest Farm

The staff were pleasant but not overly attentive. The food was good. The sunloungers were grubby and there were few towels to cover them. The lighting to the accommodation wasn’t working. The horse riding activities advertised were not available. There were no blinds or curtains at all within the acccomodation. The rooms were clean and there was a fully stocked mini bar.
Overall it was an average experience. We were staying for one night.

We stayed at the Waterberg Guest Farm for two nights. The location is worth highlighting, as it is well suited as a stopover between Windhoek and Etosha, and the view of the Waterberg is wonderful. The main building with the restaurant, pool, fireplace, etc. Is lovingly designed, the rooms look nice at first glance, and the bungalows are very beautiful and offer a wonderful view.
The owners obviously have no interest in their guests. They also eat their meals in the guest area together with 3 or 4 large dogs, which then also roam around the guest tables. If I hadn't already booked and paid in advance and if the farm wasn't in the middle of nowhere, I would have left immediately.
At mealtimes, guests are seated at a large table with other guests (whether they like it or not). The owners' private house guests receive the best service.
The service is just about acceptable. The rooms are clean and the guest area is well maintained overall. The staff are uninspired, unfocused and not really friendly, in my opinion. The promised packed lunch was not ready at the promised departure time. We then left without it.

Very well managed lodge. Well furnished, super clean rooms with comfortable bed and bedding. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast and dinner are very good. Wi-Fi only near reception area. Would return here anytime.

The location of this lodge is decent, and a short drive to Waterberg. It’s also a good distance to Etosha if you need an overnight from driving from Windhoek. I thought the room was nice and breakfast was good. What I didn’t csre for was the family style of eating. As a solo traveler who is not fluent in German or Dutch or Afrikaans, it’s a little awkward to sit next to people and not be able to communicate. The internet was horrible, even at the front area. Dinner was included, but by dinner time, it was already dark and one night thunderstorms. There was no escort from your lodge to the dining area. There was no way to contact the front desk from your room either — no phones. So because of the severe rain one night and darkness the other two nights, I never had dinner. I just didn’t feel safe with the 15 min walk in the dark alone. They need some procedures in place to better help solo travelers.

What a fantastic way to finish our tour around Namibia. Wateberg Guest Farm is a cozy and familiar lodge that made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The staff, from Jafet who welcomed us, Theo in the bar, Alois as the head waiter to Jimmy the horse guide, they all made us feel extremely well cared for and part of the family.
The food is all homemade and delicious.
We were in Bungalow and the views to the Waterberg Plateau are stunning. The Bungalows are far from each other offering a lot of privacy.
You are in the middle of nature and of course there are a few cohabitants like spiders and mosquitoes, but bungalows are provided with insect spray.
I highly recommend making a stop a Waterberg Guest Farm. It is all about the small details, like the fresh milk from their cows for breakfast or a warming fire pit at sunset.

Overall great lodge with beautiful bungalow’s and nice little pool. Negative point is there are only fans in the bungalows, no AC. With temperatures of 37 degrees that’s a bit hot at night for me as an European. That should change. Oh and they couldn’t serve a good temperature red wine, it was too warm. They should keep it fridged at all times, especially when you brag about your fine wines on your website.

Wonderful cabins, wonderful people, wonderful food. I loved the outdoor shower, and the central area with pool and restaurant are lovely.
Make sure to stay for more than one day bc they offer nice activities (drive around the farm, horse riding, cheetah sanctuary) and you can do some nice hiking.

Wow! What a beautiful place to stay 😍 I was so in love with my private cabin (if that’s the correct name for it? ) — the view was amazing, the decoration was wonderful and the outdoor shower was so fun 🎉 my only criticism would be — since the cabin has no curtains (which personally, I love since the cabins were so private and the view is wonderful to wake up to) it would be nice to be warned in advance that a member of staff may call by in the morning to ask what you had from the mini bar. I was naked when it happened and I think we both got quite the shock 😂

Close to the Waterberg mountain, very nice lodge with views. Comfy beds and nice linen. Food included was nice — the wine you could chose to buy was excellent. Two big dogs walk in restaurant which I really liked but maybe not for everyone. Wi-Fi not so good, only at the restaurant/bar but they have a very nice library where you could borrow a book — a lot on flora and fauna. Excellent! Also you could buy shirts in curio shop.
Map of premises with trails and some short info about the mountains would be an improvement.

Very disappointing experience. It has so much potential. We unfortunately give a very rude reception on our arrival. Having arrived in the am with our 16month old. We were hoping to have a dip in the pool or relax in the outside shaded areas. The receptionist didn't welcome us or say hello. She just saidcheck in time was at 1400, and why did we turn up so early. After some prompting and questioning, we were given a tour. After the second time of asking if we could do the check-in paperwork, did she allow us to realise our room was ready.
The room (villa) was very comfortable and a great space for our little one.
The rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The location is good, and they have okay amenities.
Unfortunately, the food was far below average from what we experienced during our 3 weeks in namibia.
I usually don't like to write reviews, but our experience here put a downer on the end of our trip.
As stated before, it has so much potential, a friendly smile and welcome, and some tweets in the kitchen, and this would be a great location. Unfortunately, we can't recommend staying here we were bitterly disappointed by our experience.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Waterberg Guest Farm. We stayed in a secluded cottage that was a short walk away from the main house. Very comfortable. The food was great as well, and we enjoyed meeting the other travelers while eating around the big table. We also met the owner Harry, who was very gracious and thoughtful.

We stayed in one of the chalets, with a beautiful full window view of the Waterberg. The central lappa area is very inviting and the staff really helpful and kind. We walked/scrambled up the hill on the path which also gave really good views of the whole Waterberg area, and my partner went horse riding, — amongst the cattle and along dry river beds. Harry Schneider also takes an active interest in his customers which I thought sums up the farm.
