DESERT DREAMS BED and BREAKFAST CC in Q&A

Information is provided based on reviews and may contain inaccuracies.

Where is DESERT DREAMS BED and BREAKFAST CC located and what is nearby?

The property is conveniently situated near the town center and harbor, as well as in close proximity to the desert region. A supermarket is within walking distance, and waterfront restaurants are approximately a 5-minute drive away. Guests note that there are limited attractions within the immediate vicinity of Walvis Bay, leading some to recommend considering a stay in Swakopmund, which is a 30-minute drive away.

Does the hotel have on-site parking?

Yes, the property offers secure, complimentary parking. Each room has a dedicated lock-up garage that leads directly into the courtyard. The garages are spacious enough to accommodate large 4x4 vehicles, even those equipped with rooftop tents.

How polite is the staff and how does check-in work?

Most guests describe the staff as exceptionally friendly, hospitable, and attentive, with special praise for team member Tuyeimo. However, there have been occasional misunderstandings upon arrival due to a language barrier (some staff members do not speak English fluently) and internal communication issues regarding vegan dietary preferences. Additionally, one guest reported a negative reaction from the owner (rolling her eyes) when discussing parking rules.

What breakfast options does the hotel offer?

The property serves a delicious, hearty, and high-quality homemade buffet breakfast. The selection features various egg dishes (including omelets), bacon, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, cheese, ham, salami, and toast. Guests consistently rate both the variety and quality of the food very highly.

Is the Wi-Fi connection stable at the hotel?

Feedback regarding the Wi-Fi is mixed. While some guests found the connection satisfactory, others reported an unstable signal that disconnected every 30 minutes. Issues with switching between routers were also noted, which made streaming videos on YouTube difficult.

What is the condition of the rooms, beds, and furniture?

The rooms are described as very spacious, clean, and cozy, featuring comfortable beds and excellent bathrooms (some equipped with both a bathtub and a separate shower). Certain units include a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, microwave, and washing machine. However, one guest noted broken windows, missing window handles, and furniture that could benefit from an update.

How do the room ventilation and heating systems work?

The climate control has drawn some complaints from guests. Certain rooms can become overly warm, prompting suggestions for air conditioning installation. It was also noted that rooms can get quite cold at night due to the lack of heating facilities.

Is housekeeping provided, and what additional services are available?

The property maintains impeccable cleanliness, and housekeeping is carried out to a high standard. Guests enjoy complimentary in-room tea, coffee, and biscuits. In addition, a fast and high-quality laundry service is available on-site.

What is the ambiance of the hotel, and is it suitable for extended stays?

The property offers a quiet and welcoming atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for both brief stopovers and long-term stays. Thanks to the spacious apartments equipped with private kitchens and washing machines, guests frequently enjoy staying here for several weeks.

Well run B&B. Clean and comfortable rooms. Secure parking. Good location. Lovely breakfast. Very pleasant staff. Our Apartment 2 was very spacious and had a washing machine and courtyard area which was convenient.
Only reason I deducted a star is because of miscommunication we had on check regarding parking for another member of our group. Wi-Fi was also not very stable. But the positives outweigh that.
I would definitely recommend it.

The rooms are very comfy and you'll definitely have a peaceful nights sleep. Some rooms tend to get a bit hot, so hopefully aircons will be introduced in the future.
The breakfast and room cleaning service is top notch. The workers are very pleasant.
Reasons for my 3 stars:
1. Wi-Fi cuts off every 30 mins or so. Not really sure why but everyone experienced the same. They possibly need to invest in a proper mesh Wi-Fi and isolate the rooms since you can control TVs remotely in every room.
2. Our checkin was not ideal. We just drove a long distance, so didn't appreciate the runaround. Long story short, I was told I can't reverse my bakkie in and then a short while later told to use a different garage. The workers don't understand English too well so it was not easy to get clarity.
At this point we sent a message to the owner. When she arrived, I mentioned we have 2 seperate rooms so I'm entitled to my own garage, I'm merely just transporting the other 2 people in their own separately paid room, at which point she rolled her eyes.
But despite that, she clarified the reasoning (some have roof racks etc) but said we can keep it as is since we don't have any of that, it's just a blanket rule they tell the staff to mention. I wanted to bring attention to the rolling of eyes as that was a bad first impression.
Other than those 2 issues, I'd say it was an extremely comfortable stay.

Exactly what we needed — a break from camp sites and a comfy bed for the night. The rooms are spotless, garages can accommodate 4x4s with roof tents and the ladies made us a very nice breakfast.
Easy to find but not particularly local for restaurants/shops etc but they are only a short drive away.
