Rainbow River Lodge

Wonderful lodge with great restaurant on the river where you can see hippos. We had the very best filet steak, cooked to perfection. Very friendly staff who are super knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommended. Don't miss driving around the beautiful Mahango Park area nearby.

Terrible lodge… no receiving area' no one to direct you where to go or what to do, the wooden deck overlooking the river is in such a bad condition that we had to move to another table to avoid becoming wet due to rain. The deck itself is a risk. Our room did not have a overhang roof and no water drainage in place on the stoop of the house. The manager or managers were so busy enjoying their drinks and entertaining friends or whomever that nothing else was in play for them. Look, I am not being prejudiced here but it is a disgrace!

Great hosts and very accommodating with an early start the next day we got packed breakfasts. Awesome views, great afternoon river boat ride. Air con in the rooms worked well. We got a family room 2 separate en suite rooms with an inter leading door was great for the kids. Will definitely stay here again.

Situated right on the Okavanga river and the atmosphere around the bar and restaurant was really nice. Rooms are fine but quite a few of us on night one didnt have water to shower etc. Food was a set meal and night two it was steak but they were huge and many of us left quite a lot of it. Maybe a good complaint I know but would be more enjoyable if cut back a bit. Ideal spot for boat trips and on the mokoros. Would certainly come back.

Rainbow River Lodge, located along the Okavango River, enjoys a beautiful setting. On the day of our arrival, it was very hot, and we were taken to our room in the newer lodges. Unfortunately, the air conditioning could not be used all day because maintenance work was being carried out, and there was no electricity as it had been turned off for the repairs. The room was also missing a refrigerator and a safe, which would have been very useful given the high temperatures and the remote location.
This location has potential but is in need of a thorough renovation. The seating area near the restaurant was not cleaned, and the chairs were dirty. The wooden deck on which the restaurant is built also requires maintenance. While we were quietly enjoying a drink, strong winds caused a rotten plank from the railing to fall right next to us — luckily, no one was hurt.
Although the lodge promotes itself as a luxury destination, it does not yet live up to that standard. The management seems to be involved in too many projects (such as starting a banana plantation), and maintenance appears to have been neglected. With better upkeep and attention to detail, this place could truly shine.
That said, we did enjoy a very beautiful and highly recommended sunset boat cruise on the Okavango River — a memorable experience that showcased the area’s natural beauty and serenity.

Beautiful shaded and well-kept camp sites with clean ablutions. Very friendly and helpful staff. River edge with hippo sightings. Lots of bird life. Only negative was the absence of any "Reception" sign while the new reception facility is under construction.

We stayed at Rainbow River Lodge for two nights and payed 8000 Namibia dollars. We enjoyed our stay. Dinner was fantastic both nights. One of the best on our three weeks stay in Namibia so far. Breakfast was good as well. Pool area is very nice and so is the bar area with nice view at Okavango river. Staff was very friendly.
But I can't understand why we payed 8000 for two nights. The lodge was absolutely not worth the amount. Bed was fine but no double bed, just two separate beds. The terrace was of no quality. There were no garden, grass or anny view. We have slept on many lodges on our trip and this was of the poorest quality. No refridgerator. Wifi was also of poor quality when we were at the pool area. Taken the price in consideration we expected far more. I really don't understand why they charge so much for such a lodge.

We camped… great experience! Private bathroom with double showers and basins… all spotless. Good kitchen facilities. Cannot beat the view… very special. Ladies helped with a pile of laundry at a very reasonable price. Thank you all!

This is a must for campers. It is on the banks of the Kavango River and Campers have the best sites, with their own ablation, available. It is the best camping site out of 24 places on our tour. They met all our expectations…. And more!

Had a decent stay here. Rooms are kept clean. Service at the restaurant is good and quick. Unfortunately the standard rooms need some upgrades, especially for the price you pay. A small fridge in the room would go a long way. The room and bathroom light flickered and dimmed every so often and the bathroom light hangs too low, thus blocking direct light in the shower, which might be a problem for older people. The main thing I disliked was the fact that they turn off the geyser during the day and you — as a guest, have to put it on yourself and hope you don't forget it, as there's no notification on the matter. We had cold water on our first night after a very long drive. I'd be happy to come back if the standard rooms improve.

We cannot recommend this place enough! The hospitality was exceptional — staff couldn’t do enough for us. The evening braai on the deck is delightful. We haven’t experienced service like this in decades! We camped RIGHT on the river and heard hippos during the night. The fishing / hippo cruises were wonderful — Amos (? ) the captain was excellent and so knowledgeable. Each camp site has its own brand new, beautifully done ensuite. We loved Rainbow River Lodge and their unforgettable hospitality. Thank you guys! We hope to come back!

Rainbow River Lodge is such a lovely place in Divundu on the banks of the Kavango river. Beautiful views from their deck where you can also enjoy your meals. Very kind hosts too. We went on a Breakfast cruise for our Anniversary and they did so much to make it special for us. We saw hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birdlife! We will definitely be back to relax and rewind!

Very friendly and kind hostess. Owner, wife and father very helpful when we couldn't go to the river with our vehicle, they assisted in all means possible and we thank them for going out of their way.
I would suggest a menu for dinner as each has its own taste and not all eat the same food, although the hostess did ask of were allergic to any food, I would still say a menu would be nice.
The place is beautiful, only concern is we could not use the pool for relaxation, a bit of maintenance would be nice.
Waiters need a bit of training on drinks as we got wrong drinks twice but overall it was good.

We stayed here for one night during a tour on the campground.
Perfect place right at the river, with a view on Hippos in front (if you're lucky) and with frogs "singing" for most of the night, what an experience.
The bar is quiet and with a great view over the river.
The sanitary facilities at the campground are rather basic but perfectly fine.
We hugely enjoyed the breakfast cruise on the river, thank you for all the effort you put into setting up the boat and making it a wonderful experience for all of us!

This place is great! We camped on the river, had a great meal, watched the cross and hippos, very friendly owners.

Stayed as part of our tour and enjoyed it. Very wholesome experience. Room was cosy and the bar area was cool, right above the water. Had a breakfast boat tour the next day which was great as well.
