Hoada Camp Site

Lovely campsite, strongly recommend. Gorgeous area and scenery, each camping stand is private and has flush toilets, hot showers, running water and a sink, as well as shade. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and the elevated bar offers a lovely view over the sunset for sundowners. The pool is more for a dip than a swim, as it’s quite small — but in summer must be nice. Overall 10/10 place.

On a previous visit to Hoada, we were allocated campsite No. 3 which had enough shade during the day. This time round we were allocated campsite No. 7 of which the kitchen area had no shade apart from a shade cloth roof. The sun beat us during the day from all sides as it moved and we had to improvise our own shade with our 3mx3m shade cloth and moved the cloth as the sun moved around the roof structure. Please close off the sides-east and west — as well as the front towards the granite rock with shade netting for shade. Otherwise we had an enjoyable time at Hoada.

Leading a large family convoy of 6 vehicles and 17 PAX it was important to find a campsite that could manage and cater for the entire group. Hoada managed with ease and we all had a very enjoyable and sociable stay. The pool up in the rocks, the bar and sunset viewing point were well utilised and appreciated and made the stay even more memorable. The only very minor issue I could point to was the low water pressure in the showers. This however did not effect or impact our stay and we had a most enjoyable stay. Would love to do it again.

I would recommend this site if you love the outdoors and sharing your space with some friendly lizards. I enjoyed the pool and deck after a long day on the road and the friendly staff made us feel welcome and safe.
Don't miss this unique experience if you can and the next day we saw some giraffes crossing the road (and over the fences) not far from the camp.

One of the best campsites we’ve had in Namibia! Campsite is really beautiful with a lot of facilities. Swimming pool and sunset views are astonishing. 10/10 recommend!

We stayed at hoada for 2 nights and it was a really nice experience! The staff and the manager was so nice and really helpfull. I would recommend this campsite with private toilet and bathroom (heated) to everyone!

Situated between Palmwag and Kanmanjab making it a perfect stop on the to/from Etosha!
Every campsite was quite far from others and all had their shower, wc, sink and BBQ! The staff even came evening&morning to lit a fire for the hot water tank!

Had a blast at Hoada campsite. The tented camp was SO comfortable! The beds were clean and cozy and the pillows were very comfy which I’m always very picky about. We had an excellent night’s sleep. You also get running water, electricity and your own braai AND open fire pit. There is a nice pool also at the reception area.

Amazing staff, always friendly and in a good mood. Beautiful campsite situated in the mountains. There is no electricity, but their is no need for it either. Twice a day a fire is made to heat up water for the shower. The shower was very good.
We went on the cultural walk with Deska (hope this is the correct spelling) who led us to his family farm and showed us some of the local habits and explained the difficulties they are facing. His family is very welcoming, would really recommend this walk and the campsite (it's run by the local community)

We spent two days at the campsite with our family and joined a rhino tour, which we can highly recommend. Our guide, Dion, was fantastic, and we were able to get very close to two black rhinos on foot. The campsite itself was beautifully scenic, and the service excellent. We would definitely choose to stay here again on our next trip to Namibia.

A lovely campsite with spacious shaded areas and well maintained facilities. A unique swimming pool among the rocks and a bar with wonderful views complete this fantastic campsite. Go there and see.

We had the 2 night rhino tracking sleepout at the camp booked (and suggested) by a travel agency. It was the most amazing experience. We spent two nights with a wonderful team of a host, a guide, and a cook who took great care of us while introducing us to the beauty of Damaraland's people and nature. We learnt a lot about the history of the region and work done by the local conservancy to support the community.
We saw rhinos and giraffes, and an elephant but I was mostly amazed by the friendly people.

We stayed at Hoada camp in August of 2025 and really enjoyed it. The campsites are beautiful as advertised, hidden among the boulders. The campsite we had was large and private. The hot water worked well for showers and kitchen, the toilet was a luxury — everything is well set up and maintained. We did the farm hike which was really interesting — my kids (12 & 16) said it was a highlight of the trip for them. The only issue was the gnats. Starting around noon until sunset we had gnats constantly around our faces, and I realize we sound soft and unadventurous when we complain about that but it was hard to relax when we were constantly swiping them away. Giving guests a place to retreat during these hours would help — perhaps consider installing a screened in deck area around the bar? Or mosquito netting around some tables? Just a place where you can sit and relax, read a book peacefully would make a big difference. As it was we were glad it was not too hot — we retreated into our tents for the afternoon. All-in-all though it was a recommended camping experience.

We love our stay in this campsite (one of the most beautiful of our trip in Namibia).
The camp sites are far from each others, the nature around is amazing. You have private hot shower and toilets. The fire is on when you arrive and in the morning (thanks to the very nice people in the camp).
There is a pool, a bar with an amazing view on the sunset.
You have to stop one night here for sure!

What a great campsite! Everything that is Namibia is reflected here. Great service, fantastic site built into the rocks, a great sunset bar and rock pool. Clean and organised. Ablutions are good for where you are. No interruptions and a chance to appreciate what is around you.

Very spacious and private campsites. The facilities, like a cooking kitchen with running water (and hot water after wood-fire warmed boiler) and an outdoor shower made it an amazing stay. The personell is very friendly and helpfull. They also organized the rhino tracking here for us via the Grootberg Lodge (note: this is only available with at least 2 night stay).
Would definitely recommend this campsite.

The tents are very nice and cozy, they come with a private bathroom containing a shower, toilet and sink. Outside the text there is a braai and kitchen area that you can order meat and hot water too for a morning grill and tea. Overall the service is amazing as the people working there are very helpful and welcoming. The location is wonderful as you can visit all the nearby lodges and safari's. As to conclude, it is a delightful place to stay at and enjoy yourself. Highly recomend.
