Grootberg Lodge

Loved it, view and lodge is amazing but the staff were the best part. Made us feel so welcome travelling with a small baby.
Can't recommend it enough.

We loved the lodge. The location at 1650 m is spectacular, the staff are very friendly, the food and wine are delicious – what more could you want? The drive up is a bit of an adventure and the rhino trekking was a real off-road tour, wild and beautiful.

Truly beautiful and isolated location. Staff is fantastic. We LOVED the cultural tour-something everyone should do. Some of the food was fantastic. The afternoon coffee and cake was also a nice touch, as were the parting gifts.

A true eagle’s nest perched on a mountain pass plateau, accessible only by 4x4.
Scattered cottages dot the site, offering a unique and remote charm. Walking safaris and guided hikes are available, adding to the immersive experience.
Service is slightly below the national standard, but the welcome and care are heartfelt. The rooms show a bit of age, yet they absolutely justify the price.
In short: excellent value for money!

Beautifull campsite with own outside shower and toilet between the rocks. Pool and bar with amazing views. Good braai food and on top of that a movinh singing performance of the kids of the local school.

Words cannot describe what a wonderful location this is — right on top of the table-top hills.

It is all about location. The view is well worth it. As locals, we were disappointed not to get a discount. Some staff members appear disinterested or disengaged, as evidenced by the lack of a warm breakfast until we requested it, and the need to collect our bags from the room ourselves, despite prior arrangements. The rump steak offered for dinner was rather bland.

One of the best lodges in Namibia and the service and attendance to guests is next level.
From the moment of arrival, they make sure that you are happy and that all is sorted to your liking. They even changed the menu for my husband the evening. It was his birthday as well and it was so special the way how he was treated. I will be back for sure.

From the first encounter with staff at the beginning of the 4x4 portion of the road, we felt welcomed. Each encounter afterwards did not disappoint. Check-in was easy and welcoming. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated and appointed. The room was clean and all offer incredible views. Dinner and breakfast provided many options. Both my partner and I are vegan. The kitchen went out of their way to provide us with a lovely meal. We did email the lodge ahead of time to minimize any surprises. Another couple was dairy free. They seem to readily accommodate allergies and dietary preferences. In the morning we did a 30 min walk on a trail on the property. It was a relatively flat and easy walk, but offered some great views of the property and the valley below. They offer various excursion options that others seemed to give positive reviews. We were unfortunately only there for one night so did not partake in any of these. The Moringa walk unfortunately was not an option when we were there due to lions in the area.
If you're looking for exceptional service, hospitality, and views, I would not hesitate to book. We appreciated this was not an "easy" lodge to get to. The roads through Damaraland/Palmwag concession are engaging and beautiful though. The experience of getting there just added to the adventure of our trip!

The camp site and its views are incredible. Thecamp site has its own toilet and shower. Very clean. The shower has warm water since the helpful staff comes both in the evening and very early in the morning to light a fire for this.
The pool area is great, including the deck where you can enjoy a drink with the sunset, but there are a lot of flies which make it not really bearable the sit at the pool. As soon as the sun starts to set it gets better luckily.
We really came to peace here.

Very nice place. Facilities are clean. Donkey work at night, but was cold in the.
Morning. Stands not even. It does’nt work for an offroad caravan. No place to turn around. This make life difficult. Management must make sure to.
Place caravans where they can turn around. No shade at our stand. Place however beautifull.

Fantastic place. The best of all the places we stayed at in almost a month in Namibia. Beautiful views from the bar. Lovely swimming pool.

Incredible views from this location. Great for a 1 night stay heading towards Skeleton Coast.
Only down side was the dirty pool and lack of insect repellent in the room but the staff were super friendly and the place was magical.
Sundowner tour is a must.

A very nice and quiet place. We enjoyed pool/bar to rest and recover for the next long drive. Nice service, friendly people.
We slept in the tents, so no rooms.
The only thing: You really shoud take care about the rubbish. Two places to separate, but everything has been put together…

Although we had to postpone our trip to wait for the rivers to stop flowing, we couldn’t be happier to see Grootberg in its fullest splendour during the Green season. The managers kept us up to date on the conditions of the roads and knew they would come to our rescue if things were to go south. But everything worked out and then on the summit you are met with a beautiful lodge, with caring managers and amazing staff. Hospitality is the jewel in the crown here, and endless views, you’ll keep staring at. We enjoyed the bottomless cups of hot chocolate and family games when it was raining and took in all the views of this beautiful establishment. Thank you Grootberg!

Stunning views, wonderful staff and amazing food.
We stayed 2 nights and by dinner time the firts night everyone working at the lodge knew our little boy by name. The staff is incredible and made us feel righ at home from the moment we arrived.
Highly recommended.
