Baobab Beach Vilanculos Resort

My favourite backpackers but still not very well maintained. Great beach view and straight access to beach.

This is an amazing place to stay. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly. They will go out of their way to make your stay great, from helping organise activities to sorting out vehicle problems. Can not wait to visit them again!

Vibe was a little too low-key and dorm room was pretty rustic. Not much going on during my stay and felt a bit empty and quiet. Staff was generally friendly but had a hard time getting clear answers to some basic questions.

Simple, but great vibe and good bar. Only camping in Vilanculos, also good, new beach cabanas for a very fair price. Helpful staff, especially Rebecca and Vincent. Good safety, close to market and city centre. Water to shallow for swimming but small pool. Very good infrastructure for backpackers.

Were there for dinner a couple of times. Food and drinks are good but nothing special.

Based right on the beach! Whatch the fishermen leave dayly from underneath the palmtrees! Lots of activities to do around these beautiful Islands.

Great place, great vibe. The staff was friendly and helpful. They understood that the typical traveler is new to the area and is eager to explore what Vilanculos has to offer. So what I appreciated most wast the daily brief, where they share information about all the activities on offer, like visiting the islands, where the market is, do's and don'ts, what local restaurants are good, or just finding a tuk tuk. They also arrange everything for you regarding day trips to the islands. There is a bar and a restaurant, but if you prefer to make your own way, they also offer an equipped kitchen that you may use by paying a deposit. Boabab has a great laid back vibe with people from around the world having a great time, backpacker style. I can definitely recommend the beach front shelay, it has the most spectacular views. As a last note, just make sure you double check your final bill. We ended up staying there 2 different times within a week. And somehow the account gets mysteriously loaded if you don't pay attention, on both accations.

Marina, Melissa and all the staff are great here. Laid back atmosphere with a range of well-priced accommodation from dorms to huts and chalets. Family friendly as well as backpacker and couple friendly. There is a large camping section under protecting trees. Many tours to chose from that start from here — Island visits, horse riding, Scuba (nearby), snorkeling excursions. Tuk-Tuks are available with a phone call to get to the market and other attractions in and around Vilankulos.

Great buzz around the communal area but accomodation was dirty and sub standard, even for the price. Much better accommodation can be had in Vilanculos at these rates. Avoid.

Such an amazing place to stay and right up on the beach. They have really nice beach-front cottages with great views, and camping grounds at the back. Free Wi-Fi if you're staying there and good service at the bar. They're really helpful at the front desk and they can book taxis or other transport for you. The free morning coffee is terrible and the water pressure wasn't great when we stayed (don't know if it gets better than what we had), but overall it was a good experience.

Good place to stay on a beautiful beach. The restaurant serves pretty limited portions so a good place to try the great local cuisine nearby (Zita's or Leopoldina')

Really welcoming place, with afordable huts with shared bathroom and not so expensive vottages with their own bathroom. Bar service, self catering and lots or activity offer.

You will get old waiting for service at the restaurant. Best to grab the menu yourself and hassle them to take your order and bring your drinks. The food is not too bad once it arrives.

If you want/need a drink in a young international crowd; baobab is the place. Camping for peeps in there 30+ not recommend however; its very close to the bar…

Pleasant camping area, good restaurant and bar with nice food, Wi-Fi was mostly good although slightly temperamental at times. Campsite bathrooms could have been cleaner but there was always running water. Plenty of foreigners/tourists even during the 'off' season. Beautiful views of ocean and sunrise. All the beds have mosquito nets in the dorms and mattresses were comfortable and linen was clean. Private dorms are also an option if you're not into sharing. Also, we happened to be there while cyclone Dineo came through and the campsite was very well sheltered by the trees. Overall, happy stay!

For the last 4 years we come on our trip to Mozambique and stay for 2 or more days to have a good rest it is quiet clean and every time some improvements took place, the food is delicious, I love the fish, and the prices aceptable. We will not miss it to stop there, nice beach front.

On the beach. Relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes playing African music very loud. The Pizza's are good and they have free Wi-Fi for their guests. The Chocolate mouse is not recomended.

We camped out for one night. The water is potable, the bar is decent, good common area, internet works and is decently fast. They keep really bright lights on where the camping area is, which shine in your Trent. Great beach location, friendly staff. The kitchen is poorly lighted, bit you can rent cooking utensils. It's still a great place to go.

Very laid back and chilled place. It has the basic amenities. Marina and her staff are outstanding and very helpful. It is a pleasure to be at Boabab. Been a few times and stayed in the beach facing chalets. Neat and clean. When the other resorts are fairly empty, you are sure to find more people at Boabab.

Baobab is a nice and simple place to stay for a good price, food and drinks are good and I liked the bar. The host really helped us out with our taxi ride to Tofo.

Lovely place with an amazing view!

Great and safe space to stay. Basically on the beach. They brief you about the things to do and warn of places to avoid. It has a good bar/ restaurant with a pool table.

Had a wonderful holiday here. Amazing views and great hospitality from the entire staff. When here definitely do take a visit to Bazaruto Island. Great place.

Marina is an adorable manager. Who will be you find all the activities and good plans of his hotel, bar and city.

We slept in 11 in 6 bunks, in a dorm in these "huts" with thatched roof. It was an overall enjoyable experience. The campsite has a space reserved for tents, small apartments and these dorms. Each bed has a mosquito net (basic views of mosquitoes and the real risk of malaria) and the dorm has a bathroom and a shower room (I never used them because the bathrooms and outside showers were comfortable and clean). There are a bar and a restaurant, but the waiting times for contests are endless, even if you book the menu the night before and set a time.
The beach is beautiful, when there is low tide the boats go dry and you find these boats scattered on the sand, it makes a little impression, but it is very suggestive, then when it rises the tide, tuto back to normal.

Great place to camp, very good value for money. It's right on the beach, the food is very good and not expensive. I also stayed in a beachfront room for a couple of nights and it was also very nice: simple and rustic but clean and it works. The staff are very helpful and friendly and seem to really want to make your stay happy.

The most peaceful place in the zone. Great food and drinks.
