Riad Smara

This Riyadh is located in the middle of the souks, the noisiest area in Marrakech. You will not locate it easily, and be warned they will cancel your booking at 10pm before you are due to arrive the next morning. Awful service from Riad Smara and Booking. Com, we had to rebook at 11pm, leaving us with extremely poor options even with their 60€ inconvenience fee — ended up spending double the original cost to find somewhere safe to sleep.

The staff at Riad Smara could not have been more helpful and kind. The riad itself is truly beautiful, with exquisite wooden fretwork and stunning painted ceilings. Our room featured the most incredible bath — huge, almost big enough to sleep in, with a gorgeous domed ceiling above. After a night in the Agafay Desert, a long soak was absolute perfection. Highly recommended!

Just home from a fantastic stay with our family at Riad Smara. Gorgeous & comfortable rooms — a beautiful Riad with lovely refreshing pool & a roof terrace to relax & soak up some sunshine after the craziness of the Medina! The breakfast was superb & the staff couldn’t have done more to make us welcome & feel comfortable. Amazing location too — only 10mins walk from the main square…but so peaceful inside the Riad!
All the staff were so friendly & Zachary was so helpful booking us a restaurant for our last night & organising a taxi to return to the airport. We also left our bags there after check out as our flight was later in the day!
Highly recommended…hope to return again sometime! Thank you!

We stayed at Smara 2 nights, and absolutely enjoyed the stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They helped plan our day in Marrakech, and pointed out the nearby sights. The rooms were comfortable, air conditioned, with en suite bathrooms. The pool in the lobby is great place to cool off after a hot day of exploring. Breakfast was excellent, with local pastries, fruit and eggs. Highly recommended!

This was our first time visiting Marrakech and through a friend we were recommended to stay at Riad Smara. This place couldn't be more perfect! The location is great, within the old medina, 10-15 minutes walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa. Lovely room, very nice traditional features, quiet and peaceful. The hosts are super friendly, they really looked after us so well, making sure we were doing okay, helping us out with booking a daytrip to Ourika, recommending great, affordable restaurants (Chez Brahim! ), and other historical sights and souks, and each day we were served a very varied, super healthy breakfast. The Riad Smara is gorgeous, and when we will be back in Marrakech we will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

What a fabulous Riad, the staff are amazing, so very helpful, polite and friendly. Beds were really comfortable and our room was very clean. Location was excellent, very near to everything, but quiet on a night. Can’t fault this little gem.

We had an outstanding week at Riad Smara in Marrakech. The owners and staff are excellent hosts — welcoming, friendly and attentive. The riad is beautiful, a peaceful haven amid the bustle of the medina, with close proximity to the main square, markets, street food, restaurants and sightseeing. The family room on two levels was a great setup for me and my daughters, with plenty of space and very comfortable beds. Breakfast was delicious and abundant — a changing assortment of breads, pastries, fruits and spreads each day. There are lovely spaces to relax — in the courtyard, on the many couches, and the rooftop. Highly recommended!

Beautiful atmosphere, very calm riad. The bed and the pillow were very comfortable to sleep on.
The bathroom was clean and big.
The Daily breakfast was fresh and traditional.
Close to medina, 15 minutes walk to the main square. Depending on which route you take☺️
The only factor that you should be aware of is that riad windows and doors are not all soundproof, so be aware before you book a riad if you are sensitive about that. Smara riad was quiet during our stay.

The raid was located in a nice and quiet area, just a few minutes walk from the souks. The rooms were nice and cozy, and the staff were super nice and helpful! We didn't get the name of the ladies in the kitchen, but they were so sweet and accommodating! 🩷
Ashraf and Zakaria were also very helpful and nice people! They also know good food spots, if you want to try Morrocan food.

Excellent Riad for our stay in Marrakesh.
Staff were wonderful and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, always happy to help advise or make bookings for us.
Accommodation was spotless, and cleaned daily. Breakfast was plentiful, and always a new addition each day and plenty of refills of excellent coffee.
Location was perfect to provide an authentic Marrakesh experience, within the medina.
Can’t fault the Riad, a great place to stay.

I had a very enjoyable stay at.
Riad Smara. The management team were helpful, friendly and welcoming. The staff members who are Moroccan were also friendly and cheerful.
The Riad offered a filling and delicious breakfast; excellent for those with a healthy appetite!
Be prepared to walk. Situated in the very bustling area close to the Souk there is a myriad of interesting sights. For cat lovers, carry a bag of dry food when going out. There are many appreciative kitties.

We absolutely loved our stay at Riad Smara! Would definitely stay again. The staff was very friendly (especially Zakaria! ) and full of great recommendations. The breakfast was exceptional — the best we had in Morocco. We loved the atmosphere, cleanliness, and how the riad was close to everything but still quiet at night. There was also a beautiful rooftop to relax on.

Beautiful rooms (we stayed in Safi), nice breakfast, beautiful and quite courtyard and a nice roof terrace perfect for watching the sunrise.
Help with booking excursions and taxis, tips om restaurants, rooftop bars, sights, what to do and what not to do.
Good location with a 10 minute walk to Jemaa el-fnaa.
We had a fantastic week in Marrakech thanks to all of the wonderful people at Smara.
If/when we go back to Marrakech, this is definitely where we will stay again.

Beautiful place, with a nice rooftop and a small pool for the hottest days. Every room is unique, spacious, with a beautiful private bathroom and a very comfy bed. On top of this, George and Kim are wonderful and very caring hosts. They and their staff Zach and Ashraf were super nice and helped us arranging our trip to Essaouira and to the airport, and were always willing to make our stay in Marrakech very special and easy. We extended our stay to four nights and could enjoy their hospitality and their delicious and abundant breakfast. Our last morning they kindly arranged it earlier before leaving to the airport. I hope we can come back soon!

Everything was great, specially the host, Mr George. A very kind and nice person who received us with a tasty tea, cake and enjoyable conversation. Mr George gave us some tips about the city and people, very useful indeed! I would definitely repeat the hotel if I was to come back to Marraquexe.
Loved the bedroom, big and beautiful and the bathroom, amazing.
Finally, it is walkable for the city center, no need to get a car to visit the city center.

A lovely traditional riad. Beautifully decorated. Roof terrace is very nice for a sun bathe or evening tipple. I visited with two friends and it was perfect. Lovely owners and staff. Zach was very helpful/ friendly. Would definitely recommend.
