RIAD SAMAH

Absolutely fantastic dwelling away from the madness and not far from the Berber Souk. All staff were amazing and attentive. We received an upgrade, that though meant we were in the same bed, it was massive so it wasn't a issue and was more than welcome as it felt cooler than the prior room. Given the small number of rooms, it almost felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. The breakfasts were varied and fresh, and we've already spoken of returning just because of how upmarket the place felt regardless of the excellent price. I will miss the smell of the place for sure. This was one of the finest examples of hospitality I've ever experienced and I would recommend everyone picks this as their Marrakech riad. Special mentions to the 'fixer' Hamza, who can book you a gold seated Tuk tuk, navigate you back from the maze of the Medina, if required, and not forgetting Mohammed and the fine cooking skills of the ladies. Special mention to Tracy the tortoise — sweet, sweet Tracy.

Delphine's riad is amazing but she's been a terrible host overall, watching every movement of our group using the cameras, tracking us as if we were criminals, she's completely paranoid.
We had already paid over 5400 EUR for our 11 nights' stay so let's just say we were good for the money, and even then she took our family hostage at 6am because the final invoice for food and drinks wasn't paid, even though it was sent late the night before, without any payment details or terms.
She charged us for 2 broken glasses which is ridiculous in the grand scheme of things.
Weeks later we received an invoice for 300+ EUR because of supposed paint marks on the walls that could have happened anytime before or after we were in the house.
It's really a shame because we had spent such a good stay there and Rachida cooked us amazing meals. We would have remained with such a good impression had it not been for Delphine's (the host) poor management.
Probably best to find another Riad in hindsight.

We were warned by the staff that she was using the cameras to watch their every movements, and ours, what an invasion of privacy!
We had already paid over 4300 EUR for our 11 nights' stay so let's just say we were good for the money, and even then she took our family hostage at 6am because the final invoice for food and drinks wasn't paid, even though it was sent late the night before, without any payment details or terms. She literally ordered her staff to prevent our family with younger kids from leaving the house until the final invoice was settled. It was 6am when we left for the airport, and she had sent the invoice at 10pm the night before, without ANY payment method or instructions or terms. How were we supposed to have it paid on time? Where is the trust in this, after we spent so much money already? Our first group left at 6am and had to literally scramble from the plane stairs to find an Internet connection and get complete the payment before take off. Worst, she wouldn't accept a payment via AirBnB so as not to pay their commission, which would have been a lot faster and easier.
