Riad Lyla

Stayed here for 3 nights after travelling around morocco and it was perfect. A real oasis in hustle and bustle of the medina, Riad Lyla is tucked away a couple minutes walk from the souk and less than a 10 minute walk from the main square.
The Riad itself is beautiful and very tastefully decorated, with curated art and furniture that is authentic to Marrakesh. We stayed in the Cosy Room, which was beautiful and has its own fireplace and views out into the garden, so you feel like you're up in the trees.
Would love to mention Ayoub who was so welcoming, smiley and helpful, and even ran to the pharmacy for me when I had a bee sting!
Other positives;
— Delicious freshly made local breakfast with option of eggs each morning.
— Lots of patio and terrace areas for sunbthing/ relaxing that didnt feel overlooked.
— Beautiful decor with lots of attention to detail.

I stayed at Riad Lyla in May 2026 and it was a real little paradise. The reason we chose this Riad was for all the mature trees, flowers and greenery and for the peaceful courtyard and tastefully decorated rooms with lots of beautiful art. The staff were all lovely, especially Ayoub! It is quite a big riad but feels cosy and secluded, with lots of little secret passageways and unexpected terraces everywhere, which means you'll always find a quiet and peaceful spot to relax. We are already planning our return :-)

Overrated in our view. Yes, it is a beautiful en centrally located Riad with nice rooms. On the other hand: the classical furniture seems nice, but was partly broken. The staff was nice enough, but did not make us feel really welcome. This was the only hotel that did not welcome us with some tea.
Although they indicate on Booking and their site it offers an elevator, this is hardly true: there is a one-person elevator supposedly going to the roof terrasse; however I was locked in this thing for ten minutes without moving an inch: frightening experience.

This was my second stay at Riad Mouassine this year and both stays were wonderful.
First of all, the location is wonderful-in the medina and close to many sights and easy to find.
Th riad is lovely and my room-Cappucine-is gorgeous. The bathroom is wonderful as well. The linens and towels are so nice. Each night they leave cookies as well and replinish the bottled water daily.
The staff is amazing, starting with Jamila who manages the property. She is warm, helpful and a sheer delight. Marouane and the other young man working there are just wonderful. The people working the breakfast are so accommodating.
It was very quiet inside as well.
I cannot recommend this riad highly enough.

The riad was absolutely lovely — beautiful, historic, and perfectly located in the heart of the Medina, yet tucked away on a calm street that offered a much-needed escape from the city’s bustle. The atmosphere was serene and welcoming, but the true highlight was the staff — such kind, polite, and genuinely caring people.
On the day of our checkout, they kindly allowed us to leave our luggage there for the day. Later that day I unexpectedly fell ill. We returned late in the evening to collect our things, and the night manager offered me a place to rest, made me tea, and even helped us carry our bags to the Medina exit while negotiating a fair taxi fare for us.
Their warmth and compassion turned what could have been a stressful experience into a moment of genuine human kindness — something we’ll remember far beyond our stay!

Great Riad in the medina and close to the souks. Beautiful courtyard and plunge pool. Great for cooling off in the city heat. Breakfast and welcome from the staff were great and a brilliant introduction to Marrakech. Easy enough to find on a small side alleyway. Rooftop with sun chairs and view over the city.

Mould in the bathroom, the carpets smell like they haven't been washed in years, the room smells bad whenever you walk in, and the AC drips water every three seconds.
Many other small things are broken like towel hangers, shower head, etc.
Also, five items in our laundry were ruined because they are now two sizes smaller than before.
Overall this is not acceptable for the price charged.
But not one star because of the great location, beautiful rooftop and courtyard, and very friendly and helpful staff.

I had the pleasure of staying at this riad for three nights.
First of all, Jamila and the men working with her are delightful. They have an amazing and warm attitude.
The riad is beautiful and in a tremendous location-convenient to everything. My room was beautiful and large as well as was the bathroom. The fabrics were amazing. I loved the walk in shower. All the amenities were provided. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. As is true with riads, the rooms face the courtyard and there can be a bit of noise but it was nothing I could not deal with.
This is a fairly new riad. I would highly recommend it and look forward to my return.

The riad is well situated in the Medina. The best part is the people. I was travelling solo and both Ayoub and Salah made sure I felt comfortable during my first two nights in Marrakech. My flight was delayed but transport was arranged, bag porter through the Medina to the riad was ready, and Salah had a delicious tagine ready for me, perfect after a long journey. Ayoub also helped me make the right travel arrangements for my long journey to the valley of the roses. I’ve never experienced the kindness I experienced in Morocco.

Riad Lyla is in a very central location which is nice. The place is very authentic but could use a little updating. The linens were rather old and the furniture while authentic could use some steam cleaning to freshen up the smells. But what I did love was the staff. They were very friendly and helped to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was good and we loved that they were very welcoming to us.

We’ve just come back from the restaurant, and it was truly a wonderful experience. The dinner was absolutely amazing—everything was freshly cooked just for us, which made it feel incredibly special and personal. It genuinely felt like being at home, but with the charm and care of a lovely dining setting. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was equally delightful. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm, welcoming atmosphere and an exceptional dinner.

Riad Lyla is a nice place! Very authentic and full of charm. We absolutely loved everything about it. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the breakfasts with delicious flatbreads were a great start to our day.

Tastefully decorated my stay at this Riad was well placed for the Souks and many places to eat and drink. The staff were extremely friendly and professionally — I felt part of a family. Copious amounts of mint tea and good food on offer — lunch on the terrance with views of the mountains better than many of their competitors. As this is not licensed to sell alcohol, the place was wonderfully quiet. Highly recommended.

The Riad is in an excellent location not too far from the road and also not too far from the central square. The Riad was very clean and tidy. The bedroom was fabulous and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was excellent with a walk in shower and toiletries. The staff made us very welcome, especially Ayoub. He was always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were excellent and there was always plenty to eat. Highly recommend.

Ayoub is a legend, what a great guy always happy to help out! All the staff are great.
Perfect location, really convenient for an easy pick up at Bab La Ksour for trips/taxis and close to some great rooftop bars/restaurants and easy to navigate route to the square.
Loved it!

Great location, nice atmosphere, friendly staff taking care of a tasteful breakfast. We had a spacious room with a/c. Riad Lyla is a great hide-away in the buzzling medina of Marrakesh. Loved the roof terasse for breakfast or to enjoy the late afternoon sun.
Tip: rent a bike at Pikala or book a daypass to enjoy the pool and garden of one of the hotels nearby.
Highly recommended for a few days.

We have arrived back home following a glorious weekend at Riad Lyla. We’d been at a hotel resort for the first few days of our trip and an opportunity came up to stay at a the Riad and were so pleased that we did.
From the very warm welcome by Mustafa to the oasis in the bustling streets of Marrakech, this was truly a gem of a find.
Water and mint tea was served and all of our luggage taken care of. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, Mustafa and Ayub, both were so kind and helpful.
We were so humbled by their welcome and kindness.
Breakfast was fresh, simple and just perfect. Fresh juice and coffee or tea, sat next to the pool, surrounded by greenery and birds singing.
Our family room was so charming and was comfortable for us as a family of four, my in laws had a lovely room too and were very pleased with the sleep they had.
We will most definitely be looking to come back one day and recommend it as a great central place to relax, with it being so convenient to the Medina and the souks.
