I had booked a Riad 2 weeks prior to my trip through Agoda. However, just 4 days before the trip, the owner contacted me through Agoda messages and informed me that she was not happy with the price. Despite my attempts to explain that I had booked through Agoda and that she could contact them, she was very rude and accused me of lying. She insisted that she had not received any money in advance and that she did not work with Agoda. This was a clear indication that she was unaware of the workings of booking between partners and how third-party agencies take money from customers and pay the owner on arrival.
The owner did not handle the situation well at all and put all the pressure on me instead of dealing with the situation professionally through the commissioner she worked with. She should have addressed the issue in a timely manner once they notified her with the booking. I am not sure why she waited all that time to check the price just now.
At the end, she cancelled my booking, which was fine and fair for her. However, this left me with only 3 days before my arrival date to find another property with very competitive prices, even though my original booking had been confirmed with no risk of cancellation.
