Riad 144

We stayed for 4 nights with our 3 sons in April. The riad staff provided excellent service from the day we booked until we left. Transfers were arranged from the airport; tea and biscuits were served when we arrived; the rooms were clean, well presented, and very comfortable and stylish. We ate dinner in the riad on the first evening which was delicious — and easy after the journey. The plunge pool, courtyards and roof terraces were great — plenty of loungers, towels for guests and great views. Breakfast each day was great — served on the roof and delicious. Staff were very helpful advising where to visit and arranging quad biking and camel rides in Agafay for us. Overall we totally recommend Riad 144 and would like to thank Ahmed and Abdul plus all the staff for looking after us so well.

Riad 144 is a little gem, tucked away down an alleyway, it is an oasis of calm and tranquility. All the staff were lovely but a special mention to the managers, Ahmed and Abdul, as they were so kind and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was plentiful & delicious and the perfect way to start the day and the 3 course evening meal we had on the first night was just as good if not better than the expensive Dar Zellij restaurant a couple of alleyways away. We treated ourselves to a Hammam & Massage which was an experience in itself, but left us feeling squeaky clean and relaxed. We also took advantage of the airport transfer which at 15 Euros for 2 of us made life easy (the hotel staff came and met us when we were dropped off) and saved haggling with taxi drivers.
I would highly recommend staying here if visiting Marrakesh.

We were picked up and transferred to the riad, which is recommended, as we would never have found the riad by ourselves. The taxi rank is 5 minutes away and they kindly took our cases the few streets to the riad, where cars can not reach.
We received such a warm welcome from Ahmed, the daytime manager, who showed us around and served us mint tea. We later met Abdul, the night manager, who also helped us so much during our stay. We found they both went over and beyond with their kindness and helpfulness, which really made us feel welcome.
Whilst the meals at the riad are 35 euros pp, a little expensive, we did enjoy the whole experience. A freshly cooked 3 course meal, all nicely done. We found this price comparable to several other fine dining restaurants we ate at, during our five night stay. I would certainly recommend this after a day of travelling if not wanting to deal with the hustle & bustle of the city.
The riad is in the quiet end (the north) of the medina. Whilst it does seem a little rustic in this area, we soon got used to it. We enjoyed going to both the newer part of town as well as the older medina areas. Very mixed ~ some beautiful souks amongst some very dirty, busy streets. All part of the experience, I guess! Overall, we enjoyed our trip and certainly the calmness and beauty of Riad 144. We will certainly remember the rooftop breakfasts, the fires in the open lounge on the chilly evenings and of course the warm hospitality :)

I don't write many negative reviews but this time I have to. I booked a room for 3 nights at this riad but unfortunately the night before departure a close relative of mine died and given the circumstances I was unable to leave. I tried to find an agreement with the riad but despite my great misfortune the staff did not want to find a solution and charged me the FULL amount of the room. I think this behavior is very dishonest because I did not use breakfast, towels, sheets and cleaning of the room so I do not think it is fair that I should pay for services that I did not use. I think they would have made a better impression if they had not charged me in full. The Booking staff also tried to contact them to find an agreement but they did not even answer the phone or emails. Furthermore, their dishonest behavior is also due to the fact that after my reservation was cancelled they put the room back on sale earning 2 times. It was very disappointing. I also advise not to book a taxi with them because they ask for 20 euros for a taxi from the airport to the riad while Booking. Com offered me the same taxi for 11.50 euros. In fact I had not booked the return taxi with them. Why would they want to scam tourists? If this is the welcome that Morocco offers I think I will never go. Also on their website the rooms are much more expensive than the same rooms on Booking. Com. So always check.

Riad 144 is an amazing, calm oasis in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. We stayed here with our two young children and we all had a fantastic time. The service and all of the staff are brilliant, kind and welcoming — especially Ahmed and Abdul. The meal they cooked on our first night was delicious, as was breakfast every morning. The rooftop area offers great vistas across the city. We loved our stay here and would highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic time. We stayed in adjoining rooms with the kids. Breakfast was superb (especially on the terrace) and dinner was also brilliant (possibly the best meal of our holiday). The rooms were clean and well maintained. During our 2 night stay we made life really difficult for Ahmed and his team. We arrived late, asked for taxis to various places, asked to leave luggage for a day after we had departed. He was incredibly helpful and organised everything for us. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Stayed at Riad 144 in the moucharabieh suite. The Riad is situated in the North of the Medina, conveniently for an ATM, taxi rank (although we never used the Taxis as found it more enjoyable to walk everywhere even taking a stroll to the new city centre and mall) and local shops/restaurants. The room was excellent large bath and very high rain shower (water pressure isn't great its certainly adequate and to be expected) with a nice seating area and a 2nd sleeping area with a futon up some stairs towards the back of the room. The facilities of the Riad were very good, plunge pool, courtyard seating areas. Rooftop terraces with multiple chairs/tables and lounges on various levels. Although what made the stay truly special for us was Ahmed and the team, nothing was too much trouble for them, and kudos for Ahmeds arrival brief where after a welcome drink and chill he took us on a tour of the riad, went through the facilities and then sat down with us and annotated a map explaining the things to do in Marrakech, including local restaurants and cafes. I would recommend using their airport pick up service (1 tip if you don't have roaming data make sure you message to say you have arrived and where you will meet driver before exiting the airport doors as the free airport Wi-Fi was very patchy after the exit, ) as the taxi will only take you so far and there are a few alleys to traverse to get to the Riad.

We have just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Riad 144.
We are so grateful for the caring hospitality that we received from the whole team.
This was particularly noted as during our stay, Ramadan ended, and the Eid celebrations commenced. As a result of this, we enjoyed the company of a range of staff who rotated looking after us whilst also spending time with their families. This was very humbling and gratefully appreciated.
The Riad itself is a stunning example of authentic Morroccon architecture, interior design and fabulous food — we would recommend the cooking course which included a trip to the market with Aicha and Abderrahim.

This is a GEM of a RIAD and we cannot highly recommend enough. It's close to everything you need, yet is an oasis of calm when you need to get some quiet.
The owners are fabulous and tend to your every need, nothing is too much trouble. The photos do not do the RIAD justice! The view from the top of the RIAD is breathtaking — a real 360 degree view of the Marrakesh and Atlas mountains. The sunrise and sunsets are amazing. A fabulous RIAD that we will come back and visit / stay with again. Thanks so much for an excellent stay! Laura xx.

This is an amazing place to stay — lovely accommodation in a brilliant location, with delicious breakfast. The rooftop is a great place to relax after the hub bub of the Medina, and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly (especially Ahmed). We would definitely recommend this Riad to stay in.

Friendly and professional service is the most important thing in Marrakech and Riad 144 has that in abundance! All the staff were very pleasant and polite, rooms were spotless, situated in a safe and quiet location, close to a taxi rank in the north of the Medina, our every request was granted. Champagne with an excellent home cooked three course dinner on our arrival with a beautiful birthday cake to mark a family birthday. Breakfast to suit your preferences, excellent massages, just wish the pool had been a touch bigger, but the bath was almost as big as the pool, so small detail. We had the best holiday as a family since our children were little and would highly recommend a week in this accommodation. Would most definitely stay there again.

We had a wonderful time staying at Riad 144.
It has a great location in the north of the Médina.
Great accommodation, both rooms were beautifully decorated with comfortable beds!
The highlight of staying here was the amazing food for me, (what a chef they have! ) we had dinner at the Riad for 3 evenings and had the most delicious tagines and tangias while eating on the roof terrace with amazing views!
Ahmed and his team were so helpful, they organised us a guide for 2 days who was amazingly knowledgeable. They also recommended a company to use to go hiking around Imlil which was also great!

Very nice riad, nicely located in the authentic part of the Medina (the North).
Beautifully decorated.
Several little spots to chose from to take your breakfast — what a luxury!
Confortable beds.
Relaxing atmosphere.
And above all, what really makes the difference is the AMAZING service! Ahmed and the team have been so kind and friendly. You can feel that they genuinely want their guests to have a great time in their country, and that it is not just the business that matters like it is the case in some other places. They will help you book restaurants, hammam etc and will provide you with good and genuine advices.
I highly recommend this riad!

A gem of a Riad with wonderful staff who couldn't do anymore for you. From the welcome to fairwell your made to feel like this is your home from home. The Riad itself is a few mins walk from taxi/drop off area, as expected the streets narrow in the Medina and your situated in the northern part.
On arrival the host Ahmed sat down and marked on a pocket map some places to see along different routes which was a great help as it was our 1st time in Marrakesh. We'd a gorgeous dinner of Chicken Tagine and a surprise (home-made) birthday cake which was a lovely touch from our hosts. The Riad has circa 8 rooms on different levels with a spa, gym and roof top terrace with 360 degree views over the medina. We'd a large double room with had a corner leather couch, fridge, safe and huge bath/shower. There's many relaxing areas throughout the Riad and very family friendly with games and cinema room. One note, don't have the beautiful breakfast on the roof terrace as the bees will have a fondness for the honey which go on the homemade crepes (enjoy it downstairs)
I'd highly recommend staying here and I consider it great value for money. If/when we return we'll stay here again without question.

Very very disappointed with Riad 144…
We made a reservation on tablet hotels american express with an upgrade for one night that we extended by two additional nights.
An upgrade was made to a dark room without television or necessarily hot water to take a shower.
The owner throws us very inappropriate reflections for payments (limit obliged to pay in Euros while the hotel should accept the American express card as indicated on the booking application)
I understand that the Riad is almost empty at the customer level!
I definitely do not recommend …
