Easily one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had and here’s why:
1. Service: rude and dismissive staff with no resolution skills on any requests made. For example, asking for an extra towel (replying that there are no extra towels and saying that other rooms have asked for the same thing), requesting to change rooms because there is black mold on the walls (rudely declining to help) or check availability.
2. Rooms: very humid, walls covered in mold, dusty rooms with a visibly dirty bathroom (sink, mirror and shower) and a strong scent of humidity and overall bad smell in the room with very limited space. I am legitimately scared for the sanitation of the bed.
3. Location: it’s okay if you’re looking to stay at the center, at the cost of a pleasing and relaxing experience.
Their asking price per night should be cut in half to make sense for what you are getting.
I was obligated to stay in this hotel because of bad planning from a tourism agency in the country. Everything else regarding the experience in Morocco was okay although this hotel and the impotence to do anything has left us with a bad taste of the experience. Do not recommend, please spend the extra bucks to find something more accommodating.

Ideally placed, 5 minutes walk from the jemma el Fnaa place value for money unbeatable, adorable staff, I highly recommend.

A rather enchanting rooftop escape in the heart of Marrakech.
Perched above the lively Medina, the terrace of Hotel Islane offers a truly captivating perspective of the majestic Koutoubia Mosque, its elegant minaret rising almost within arm’s reach. It is one of those rare places where time seems to slow — where a simple coffee or evening drink becomes a small moment of theatre against the Marrakech skyline.
The atmosphere is relaxed yet quietly charming, with a gentle breeze and a view that feels almost cinematic. Whether for a leisurely breakfast, a sunset aperitif, or simply a pause between wanderings through the souks, the setting alone makes the experience memorable.
Service is warm and unpretentious, and while the menu remains simple, it complements perfectly the spirit of the terrace — effortless, scenic, and wonderfully atmospheric. Prices may lean slightly higher than nearby cafés, but the extraordinary view makes it entirely worthwhile.
A small tip: arrive just before sunset, when the Koutoubia glows in golden light and the call to prayer drifts softly across the city — a quietly magical moment that captures, in an instant, the timeless soul of Marrakech.
