Dar Soukaina

It's a quiet riad with very good service. Comfortable and cozy rooms with a large bathroom. Very well located in Medina. There is a taxi rank nearby. I come back here often.

Beautiful, well-maintained riad. We went almost everywhere by walking. Good restaurants around. The rooms are not soundproof, but the riad is peaceful. Very clean.
After walking around, it gets easy to find this riad, but consider taking airport transfer when you arrive.

Our room was called Curry.

The host and the rest of the staff are very welcoming. The courtyard is very nice and fresh. The rooms are carefully prepared and the location is perfect for wandering round Marrakech.

Plus points:
Location was easy to find and near to everything.
Inexpensive.
Bed fairly comfortable.
Hot and powerful shower.
Attractive central courtyard area.
Low points:
No locks on doors (unless you lock from the inside), which I wasn't concerned about in other riads I stayed in, but with this one the door to the street was often left open, so it would have been easy for someone to come in from the road and then enter your room whilst you weren't there. As there often was nobody 'on duty', not to mention no safes, I saw this as a major security problem.
It was quite noisy — from my room you could hear constant noise in the central part of the riad. At night it was other guests talking loudly and playing music, and in the morning it was pots and pans clattering. The walls and windows are obviously very thin.
Mediocre, limited breakfast compared to every other breakfast I had whilst in Morocco.
No water, tea etc left in the bedroom. Everywhere else I stayed offered plentiful water throughout our stay, as well as tea and coffee making facilities.
Pretty dated rooms in need of a refurb.
They booked me a 'private' transfer to the airport, which was in fact a shared transfer that I had to wait for the other passengers for. I don't mind sharing, but it meant that we all definitely overpaid for the service that we ended up receiving, as they had sold us all a 'private' trip.

Very relaxing athmosphere, clean cozy rooms and clean bathrooms, breakfast with a variety. Especially Bachir and all the other staff were very friendly and helpful and made our stay here very enjoyable. We will definetly come back. The Medina and main attractions are all walking distance from the riad.

Bashir was a great host and gave us good tips for our journey. The walls are quite thin and you can hear most noise coming from other rooms but we did not have much of a problem with that. I also am 6' 2" and had to sleep diagonal to fit on the bed but not all beds were that small. The location was pretty great once you knew the way. We recommend going on a Day Trip to Essaouira and book through Airbnb with Palma Quad. It was the highlight of our trip.

We stayed at Dar Soukaina in January for a 5 night break to Marrakech and what a treat this was. The hotel is so beautiful and the staff were so friendly and especially good with our 2 year old son.
Breakfast was lovely and slightly different every morning (a selection of pastries and bread/jams, coffee, fresh orange juice, mint tea etc — the rosemary infused muffins stood out especially)
The location was perfect and just a short walk to the souks and main square. Although there is lots of hustle and bustle outside once you are inside it feels so tranquil and quiet.
The rooms are very clean and looked freshly painted with traditional features. There is no door on the bathroom only a curtain, although this wasn’t a problem for us.
There was heating although this was through the air conditioning system and although it warmed the room up it also felt like it dried the air out so we only had it on for an hour or so in the evening.
Overall we were blown away with Marrakech and hope to visit again soon — there is so much to see and do.
We found that January was a great time to visit as although it was cold at night (around 3 or 4 degrees C) it warmed up nicely in the day time (around early 20’s by midday)
We found Moroccan people to be extremely friendly and children are made to feel very special too, and really well looked after in restaurants.
We would highly recommend getting the taxi shuttle through the hotel as it would have been so difficult to find otherwise.
