My favorite place 🤍in Tulum has the best sunset and sunrise I’ve ever seen. A magical place, full of peace and natural beauty. The incredible Mexican food is on another level: authentic, fresh, and made with love. I always come back, and I always leave happy.

I think there are many people that choose to stay in Libélula because we are running away from the party places of Tulum. And indeed Libélula is quieter, there are still bars in the beach and inside with music but not so much as other hotels/ accommodations in Tulum. It's a cute place because it has many cats, and it is beautiful that is connected to the beach. It was amazing to stay turned to the mangroves and listen to the sound of the waves, but only when the bar closes.
Here at Libélula some people were very kind, and I appreciated a lot conversations and tips of what to do and where to eat.
Also, they offered a bike rental for just one night, what was also very kind.
The blue of the sea is beautiful, and the sand is very white, it could be paradise, and it's sad that the beach has so much trash even us being in a reserve. This looks like a problem of the government that does nothing, but hopefully the hotels understand that somebody needs to be responsible for it.
I would recommend doing a massage at the beach, it's more expensive than other places because we are inside the reserve, but it was really a great massage.

That Libélula is at the very end of Tulum’s hotel zone is fitting, because to get there you have to first drive through the craziness of the tourist shops, trendy beach clubs, conglomerate-owned restaurants screaming themes like they’re in a Vegas casino, jungle-themed all-inclusives trying to outdo actual jungle across the road, and all the rest before you enter the gates of the Sian Ka’an reserve, and suddenly everything is calm.
You will know you’re somewhere special even before you hear the ocean. After ringing the bell at the giant wooden door, you’ll be greeted by the warmly mysterious Jorge who, if he told you you’d just reached the end of the world, would be easily believable. You’ll take your shoes off and never put them on again. Wave to the kitchen staff. And walk through endangered palm trees to your room, which I should probably mention has really good bath products, since this is a hotel review afterall.
Libélula is everything the monstrosities up the road, by design, cannot be. It’s small, truly personalized, and authentically Tulum.

The food and drinks are truly amazing as is the hospitality.
Love the fact that is in the middle of nowhere so you can just relax and enjoy!
The beach and sea were clean so we got to go for a swim and chill at the beach!
If you’re lucky you can see turtles come and lay their eggs at midnight, completely magical!

Stay away if you want a bog standard luxury hotel. But, if you want a magical place run by lovely people that cook like gods, at the edge of a natural park frequented by sea turtles and the occasional jaguar, then you will not be disappointed. This is the laid-back Tulum vibe of years gone by, but now with impeccable taste and quality. Thank you Carla, Jorge and Armando for giving us a memorable night.

An unusual experience thus an unusual review! The overwhelming positive of the “glamping experience” was the exceptional hospitality extended by Libélula’s Director Jorge de la Tijera, who blends kindness and personal interest with professional care. A once in a lifetime!
The property — NOTE REMOTE — 15 minutes to town, taxis very expensive and not readily available. Rental car advisable. This said, idyllic if you are seeking that remote camp experience! Not a manicured property. 9 units — each one room with sleeping & bathroom contained. Toilet only partially partitioned from the bathroom area. Bed very comfortable. 3.5 / 5
The beach — 5/5 private, quiet vibe, great covered sunbeds, beach bar 👌 (sargassum was bad and made water access difficult)
The food — delicious, expensive, portions often small, served “camp style”. It you’re seeking sophistication, this is not your ideal destination.
The bar — 5/5 Samuel, the world class bartender. Really adds to the experience.
Wellness programming — no yoga or meditation or massage — in this location, it would be a great asset to the experience.
For us, a memorable stay! The positives outweighed the shortcomings. We shall return.
If a remote glamping experience is what you’re seeking this is the perfect destination. Just be sure!

We spend 10 days at Libelula, had an amazing experience. The best part was relaxing in the most calming nature reserve. It was exactly what we needed. Quiet, comfortable, great food and fantastic service. The sky room as well as the bed was like floating on water, the sound of the waves rocked us to sleep every night. It was amazing NOT to wear shoes for 10 days and the hotel started to feel like home almost immediately, We rode bicycles into town a couple of times just to get an ideas of what we were missing, and couldn't wait to get back. Dont get me wrong the town is great but if you would like to feel uninhibited and not deal with pretence well then THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. Thank you all, Jorge, Maysir, Miguel, Carla and of course Armando who entertained us with his stories every night. Thank you all for your gracious hospitality. We will be back!

It was amazing! Best fish tacos I ever had. The beach was mostly empty. There was always a bed with shade on the beach. We paid for everything at the end so we wouldn't have to carry our wallets all the time. I would recommend this place to everyone, especially couples.

This was my 3rd time staying at Libelula and honestly it spoils my experience at any other hotel in Tulum. Only place I want to stay when I come to Tulum. It’s hard to capture with words the magic of the space, the design, the staff. The food is consistently good, I’ve tried almost every dish at this point and I’ve loved them all. You also feel like you’re part of the family and it’s set up in a way where you feel comfortable to hang out and meet and make new friends…love it, 5 stars all around! ❤️🤌🏻

This place is very secluded, quiet and just what we were after. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Lovely laid back vibe — Jorge and Armando looked after us beautifully. Great little private part of the beach, unfortunately a bit windy so the beach bar wasn’t open. The main bar is set back off the beach in the trees, out of the wind, so lounging around on the bean bags reading a book was delightful. It’s expensive but we were happy to pay for the peace and quiet.
The food was flipping amazing, best we’ve had in Mexico so far 👊🏼
