We have been to 3 star, 4 star and now a 5 star rated hotel. I have to say that I didn't find much difference between them. The food at the buffets was very similar. The a la cart were definitely better at the 5 star. The pool side service was disappointing. It was intermittent service. It was great when there was service, but at a 5 star I was expecting good service all afternoon. We will not go to another 5 star rated hotel. It wasn't a bad experience but not worth the extra money we paid for 5 star.

Excellent resort. Beautiful beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. We came here for our 5 year wedding anniversary and stayed in Akumal near the beach. All staff are very attentive, housekeeping is very good and atmosphere is extremely friendly. You will have some of the best food you have ever tasted here. All you can drink is very nice too. We cannot say enough good things and we highly recommend this Resort!

This was truly a dream vacation. I went for a 1 week stay with my wife for our 10 year anniversary, and have no complaints. Our stay was perfect from start to finish and now can't wait for a return trip in the near future I hope. Our whole experience was indescribably good. Paradise is the only word I could use, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

The premises so excellent. The services also. There are transport trolleys to all locations within the premises. Fast and agile. For children the beach is ideal. The pools also. For those of us who like the beach a little more rugged, there is not but there is a beach for adults only. The bars have everything and the attention up to now was very warm on the part of the staff. I recommend this hotel 100%

Great 7 day family vacation we’ve ever had! Family of 8, lots of great activities, we went on some local trips to Xcaret, the ruins, public beach to see the sea turtles one morning! The resort was magical! Great rooms, the cost wasn’t extreme, the views were gorgeous, excellent service, meals are great— make reservations for restaurants your first day, don’t wait! I wish we could afford for just myself and my husband to go back again soon!

Had an amazing holiday hear last year 2017. The grounds that the hotel is situated on are very nice. Food and choice was excellent. Entertainment was plenty. Staff were friendly and helpful. All round had a amazing holiday. Looking forward to going back 2019

Resort is very busy, 100% occupancy. They didn't have a room with king bed. Had to take a room with 2 double beds. Offered to move me to a room with king bed when available (3 days). Other than that the place has been amazing. Food is good. Staff are wonderful. Resort is cool and breezy. Great view of the water. The complex is huge with plenty to do.

Fabulous place for a complete chill. This place has worked hard to please most people, we've just had 2 weeks there, and would definitely return. The beach, the pools, the bars and evening entertainment were all spot on. Some varied restaurants, some were better than others, but the fussiest of eaters would find something! Generally very good, particularly the Brazilian restaurant. Loved it.

Very large hotel complex with efficient service of internal train connections for guests and luggage. Very nice beach, well cared for and with good services. Large rooms but not bathrooms. Catering services various and with great offer. Reception appeared a little slow at check in. Good entertainment offer.

Wowwwwwww! I would definitely recommend it! The beach very beautiful (despite the waves breezes) the buffet and the restaurant excellent! We'll go back there for sure:)

Huge resort consisting of 4 hotels all connected to each other with a train service… Everything "stra" is eaten practically day and night among all the restaurants, bars, etc… beautiful swimming pools, beautiful beaches with protected areas where there are sea turtle eggs… Possibility to swim with the dolphins in the salt water pool… great cooking and entertainment… we were there 2 weeks in 2013 and we would happily…

Favorite restaurants: Dolce Vita and Harlequin. Infinity pool for Adults only, Wow!

This was our 2nd time visiting and the 4th time for my parents, aunt and uncle. This time we booked the adults only complex and the room was amazing! Always clean and loved the enclosed shower! Fridge could have worked better since all our drinks were always warm. Would have loved an ice machine instead of calling a butler to get it for us. Beach was very nice but bar on the beach was closed for half our trip. Used to be open all the time so that was disappointing. I had a rough 2017 battling cancer so this trip was to help me relax and unwind. I had a wonderful time and wish we didn't have to go home. Hope to be back next year or may have my wedding there in 2019. Thank you for your great services and friendly staff.

Spectacular hotel in the middle of the nature. Access to all restaurants, scuba diving options, shooting, dolphin aryan, excursions, a disco, a pharmacy and everything you might need.

Good place to rest, beautiful views and very friendly. Good food and attention.

In the first place it clean and arranged d its gardens plus d the ample d its facilities is a complete complex.

It's an all inclusive. That should tell you everything you need to know in terms of cultural experience. The rooms are spartan but nice, everything is very clean. There are lovely beaches, although artificial breakers impede the view. Some weird smells every now and then impede the experience, but if you're looking for a beach relaxation experience you are in the right place. Just expect a very controlled, safe experience that doesn't actually put you outside your comfort zone or give you anything to take away.

Pros: + Best food we had in any all-inclusive in Cancun. Mikado and Brazilian steakhouse a must try. + Excellent beach, especially for Akumel residents. Good spot to snorkel with tons of fishes. + Excellent nightly entertainments + Very friendly and dedicated staff + Lots of activities for kids + Excellent location for other outside activities + Cheap taxi service from the lobby Cons: — Room could be better. Rooms are dark. Exhaust fan in the rest room would be good to have. The translucent glass window to the rest room is just weird. A microwave would be good to have, especially for families traveling with kids. — Not as much drink selection as other all inclusive resorts in Cancun.

Hotel super very good food and a manager who responds to all your requests. Beautiful beach safe for children.

Let me start by saying we've had amazing from the minute we stepped foot on the resort. Glass of champagne on arrival, bell boys took our luggage up to the room which was 3rd floor of villa 56. Beautiful beach view from the room, house keeping was great maintaining bathroom supplies and fresh linen. We tried almost every restaurant on resort and each was great. We are planning on coming back again next year.

It is an ideal place to go with family very safe and family you have a lot of fun (as a recommendation to take Calsado to enter the sea there are many small shells and very cute corals but hurt the barefoot) perfect they will love it. I recommend there are very elegant bathrooms and free lounge chairs so a 10 if you are one of those who like to have fun without spending jejeje.

Second day impeccable service, eat of all kinds and for all age needs. Spotless.

This was my first time staying at an all inclusive in Mexico. After doing Cuba, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica this blows them out of the water. The beach front is beautiful, the food is fantastic, the people who work here seem to really love their jobs. The attention to detail in the resort construction shows. The evening entertainment also tops all the previous all inclusives I've been too. They have constructed fake sand bars that let you swim in the ocean without feeling the pull of the waves, making a nice safe place for adults and children alike. We are only staying a week but there is so much to do we could easily have stayed for longer and will likely be returning next year!

Well, if you go without a beach, you're ok.

Everything in this hotel is wonderful. Catering, rooms, leisure with friendly, competent staff, available stay marred by a flight in the room, without a serious investigation of security, although — in the words of security — the computer system can reveal the intrusions in the Chambers and therefore allow a thorough investigation which unfortunately was not carried out.

Wonderful vacation. Staff very friendly. Went beyond expectations. First time here and already planning next year's vacation. So much to see and one week was not ling enough. Will be looking to book minimum 2 weeks. Definitely a sunshine destination.

Excellent hotel. New rooms impeccable. Good shows, cleanliness and meals. The beach is not big and they have had to make natural pools in the sea by the stones and waves but still it is fantastic.

This has been the most wonderful holiday I have been on so far. There was a wide variety of food and drinks available, and they were all delicious. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive; the waiters, drivers and entertainers — special mention to Armando, Ray and Lisbert (sorry to those whose names I have forgotten) — were great. In the same way, I would like to thank the maids for the cleanliness in our rooms. Finally, I would like to recommend this resort to anyone looking for the holiday of a lifetime.

The room booked on the internet was not the one reserved we had to spend 3 days in another room you claim ice cubes to the major man after 3 requests we received them in the room 2 days later.

I would recommend the Luxury Bahia Pincipal hotels Mexico as a holiday destination. We stayed in the Akumal & could use all 4 hotels. We have eaten at a different restaurant every night, the food and service as been exceptional. The staff are friendly and go that extra mile to make sure you are enjoying yourself and that you don't have anything to think about. If there is problem it is dealt with efficiently and quickly. All in all an excellence stay xxx.

We have just returned from a 2 week all inclusive holiday and can not fault either the hotel, facilities or staff. The restaurant and food choice is amazing and first class for an all inclusive resort. Our 5 year old daughter went to the Bahia Scouts Kids Club and we can not thank the staff enough. She wanted to go every day and they did so many different activities, so Thank you Angie… you did a great job! We will definitely go back to this hotel, we had such a brilliant time.

Absolutely amazing! Arlequin was probably the most amazing lavish restaurant I have ever been to. They gave us a special cake & rose petals because it was our anniversary. The pool is absolutely perfect, as well. The swim up bar is so relaxing. Staff very kind. Would recommend 10/10

Beautiful Hotel. 2nd time in 2 years then Tenerife also. Hotel Bahia Principe is a happiness especially here in Mexico. The employees are very nice always smiling really well. A holiday like this one DS this paradise has to do without moderation.

The hotel nice facilities also, the only thing where you dropped a lot of the quality is in the attention in general and especially to the care of the servants, too lerdos to be a 5 star…

Just came back from Bahia Principe Akumal. Loved it! Food was amazing — like being in a 5 star restaurant every evening. Accommodations good… beds could be bigger. They were 3/4 beds… if anyone remembers that size! Service got better as the week went on. Definitely will return!

Great resort. Love the fact that you have 4 resorts in the same complex with its own transportation! The carts come very often and they each have their own route. They even take you to your villa. The staff is amazing very nice, great service all very friendly and willing to go the extra mile for you. Yolanda at the 24 hour snack bar in Akumal was amazing. There are 2 things I do have to complain about. I don't like to be sweating while I'm trying to have dinner. I know I'm in Mexico but if I wanted to sweat I'll have my dinner outside. Those poor waiters and waitresses are sweating and they do not complain so big props to them because I couldn't take it (only in some restaurants thankfully) and secondly we were very surprise about the time they close the bars. The bars close at 11pm the resort is dead by 1130pm if you want to continue drinking you have to go to the club/disco which is at the Hacienda or to the snack bar however if you want to talk to your friends while having a drink the snack bar is the only place you can do that after 11. The disco you can't bring drinks outside (which I understand) so your hands are tide. Otherwise great place will be going back with the kids next time so I'll be going to sleep early every night (haha).

The Infinite Pool is beautiful. The complex is clean and and easy to access. I recommend it.

Air conditioning did not work. Numerous requests were made daily for repair. Was always told it would be fixed in the next hour. This went on for days. The air coming out of the vents was 27°C (80°F)! After much demand, arguing and being lied to, we finally received a fan for our room several days later. Front desk staff was less than helpful and extremely rude. Wrong rooms were given in the beginning, went to room and it wasn't as purchased — not ocean front, no butler, friends room had wrong beds and was told to just have someone sleep on couch! After hours of arguing, having travel agency call and argue, dealing with rude staff, we were finally given rooms in correct building. When we brought up the air conditioner not working, front desk said there was nothing they could do, especially since we "already have an upgraded room that we shouldn't have". EXTREMELY RUDE AND INACCURATE! Grounds were nice, restaurants were good. Just service and room quality was greatly lacking. Mini bar was never stocked correctly even after butler told them what to do several times. Having to call room service for ice is frustrating, especially given it generally took well over an hour to arrive.

Worst resort I stayed at. I don't know where to start. Got there on Wednesday. After about an hour we got our room. When we got to our room the TV did not work. We try calling the front desk and phone did not work. We went back to front desk to let them know about our TV and now the phone. When we got back to our room we noticed that there was a leak in the bathroom ceiling around the can light. We went back to the front desk, remember our phone didn't work. After explaining our situation they finally gave us another room but not until the next day. I try to explain to them that it was not safe but they were not concerned. I was told by front desk that they needed to know by 10am the next morning if I wanted the room. Not sure if he understood what I had just told him about how bad the room was. When we went back to the room we had to take a shower with no light, we use our cell phone light to take a shower. The next day I made sure I went back before 10am to let them know I wanted the room. He said to make sure we were out by 12pm and that our new room wouldn't be available until 3pm. So we were without a room from 12pm to 3pm. We finally got our room and the AC did not work. We called it in and it was not repaired until Saturday evening after we call for the 3rd time. It was an awful experience. Expedia has it rated as a 4.5 stars not even close. I give it a 3. Don't recommended.

I was a little anxious about this location in the beginning. As soon as we pulled on the property I began to feel more comfortable. This turned out to be a very nice trip with nice accomodations and very helpful, friendly citizens. I would give everything a 4++++ rating. I would definitely make this trip again, and I hope it will be soon…

The rooms are nice, but the front desk ruins it. They are a little rude and standoffish. If you do not book through them you are well aware of the difference in service. Every time I would ask a question at the front desk I was met with an "I don't know" or "You have to go ask this person or that person". What I did enjoy was the tram service between all of the resorts. Many of the tram drivers go out of their way to make your stay great. The evening entertainment was nice also.

This resort is slightly far from the airport which is unfortunate but not really something I'm complaining about because it is a beautiful resort. The room I'm currently in is decked out with tile and a big beautiful bed as well as a great patio with an okay view. Service so far has been good tipping the bartender $3 usd first really makes them happy to serve you all-night. The beach has a beautiful view with amazing clear water, the sand is slightly rocky and not the dream sand everyone thinks about when they think of paradise sand. The only thing I dislike about this resort is its not a party resort, I'm a young adult and the bars close at 11pm and the buffet for breakfast closes at 10:30am so you kinda gotta be in bed early and up early… But overall a fantastic resort designed more for older people and could be great for families!

Beautiful resort. We enjoyed our stay at the luxury Bahia Akumal at the end of May. The staff and service were great. Especially Yony and Ana at the buffet restaurant. Good quality alcohol was available. We recommend this resort because of the friendly staff all around and beautiful beach. Please do not forget to reward these service with a nice tip to the staff, they earned it.

Its pretty nice. The a lot of things are inclusive and you are always wondering whether you should go to the beach or the pool. The shows are pretty interesting. A lot of tropical animals can be found around the premise. The staff is very kind. I would suggest wearing a lot of sunscreen there are a lot of people that look like they had too much sun.

It's an OK 5* resort. Akumal is their luxury section but the all incl food quality is very mediocre. It's exclusively geared towards meat eating northern European clientele. Zero vegetarian options other than fruits and desert. It's in Mexico but no Mexican food in any of the 11 restaurants to speak of other than chips and salsa. Third grade house wine options, unless you spend extra $$ for their premium wines on top of paying for the already premium luxury part of the hotel. Property is very well maintained and immaculate for sure. They have Gym but if you want to use sauna you have to pay $25usd. I am definitely not coming back.

Great place to visit. My wife and I went there in 2015 and had an amazing time. The staff is very friendly and willing to do what ever it takes to make you happy. It is very clean and well maintained. I would recommend this to anyone! Ask for Jorge at the swim up bar or at the bar inside during the evening shows/performances. This man works his tail off to give you the best service possible. We tipped him more than the servers here in the states because he was that good!

Our first time there was three years ago and it was amazing! So amazing that we returned the following year to be married. Unfortunately the resort was booked when our first anniversary came around but I am very please to be returning in 2 weeks with my son to celebrate his 18th birthday/grad. The above should pretty much tell you how much I love this place! Enjoy your time if you visit. :)

Went a year ago. Beautiful vacation. Nice long beaches, some shallow and some lagoons, nice pools and lounging area. Nice variety of restaurants but booked up quickly. Great entertainment. Drinks were delicious. Bathrooms clean and convenient. Nice location for day trips to town or excursions. Riding the trolleys around was fun. Busy resort to make friends at the beach or disco, friendly staff. One of my favorite vacations. Great place all around. Can't remember the dislikes they were miniscule if any.

The place was amazing, especially the staff and the beach was nice but it didn't let sand go to the water or let the waves hit us but still very nice and it was supposed to rain the entire week but it only rained twice for 20mins. The pools were unreal because they are really cool especially the infinity pool. The food was very good and the hotel and its view was VERY nice. The tradition they have with the Mayan people is cool and there desserts are good. But the in the special restaurant s were very bad because we waited 2 hours to fit 13 people and the food wasn't even good. But overall it's a very good place even the theater.

I went here summer 2015 it was hot and lovely the room was amazing we enjoyed it it was an experience.

Wonderful facilities and friendly staff, we are left with the aftertaste bitter of not having enjoyed ourselves because we made many excursions. We will return.

When you know the quality of their services and go not only once you will see that you are. Once is not enough is not gold that glitters. Compare other hotels and decidid but not by what we write good or bad.

This years visit will be our third holiday but the first as a privilege club member, looking forward to showing our children & grandchildren the wonderful complex.
