I love this hotel, you are steps from the beach and you find everything without going far. It is a pity that the inhabitants, all, want to take advantage of this bay and no one gives anything back to the beach. Between the municipality and the investors will finish the bay in about 4 years. : — (

We absolutely LOVED our stay here. The location is perfect with it being right on the beach. One night we swam with turtles! We visited in July which turned out to be the quiet season so not many other guests. This meant often we enjoyed the beautiful pool all to ourselves! Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms were everything you needed including a fridge and filtered water. Overall Hotel Akumal Caribe was our ideal holiday and great value for money. We hope to visit again soon!

Pretty hotel right on the beach. Ideal for diving and snorkelling excursions. The bungalows are spacious and very clean. Disadvantage: Breakfast is relatively expensive. Or you eat out.

Pesimo that they have closed the access to the beach and look for profit with this, damaging the image of the place, for both national and foreign tourists.

They are stealing access to the beach, beaches are public and access to all Mexicans.

Amazing location, beautiful setting and layout, friendly staff. They do everything to ensure your stay is comfortable. Truly paradise.

Nice hotel right on the beach at Akumal Bay. Great amenities on the property including the Dive Center, Lol Ha Restaurant, other walkable eateries and shops, and the bay itself. We stayed during low season and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. No frills (and no TVs), but clean, safe, and steps from the Caribbean sea. Resort staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel at home.

Our bungalow was one of eight (four duplexes) arranged around a patio like a Formative period village plan. We stayed for three nights. The first night I woke about 4 AM to hear water running. I got up (my roommate is deaf when he takes out his hearing aids at night) to take of it. But as soon as my feet hit the floor they were in water. Using my phone as a flashlight quickly discovered the problem was a leaking toilet tank. Easy fix right? Just reach down and turn off the water supply valve. In this case, wrong. The valve didn't have a handle and required a wrench to turn it. So I put a towel across the floor at the bathroom door to channel the leaking water into the shower. Then I walked up to the restaurant and bar complex to find a night watchman. He took the room number and told me to return and he'd send someone. Within a couple of minutes two workers (including the watchman) arrived at the room. They had a wrench and used a squeegee to return the water on the floor to the shower drain. In addition they returned and repaired the toilet when we were out for breakfast. Fast, quick, and efficient is my view of the staff. After the early morning adventure (that made an interesting breakfast story) we enjoyed the Club Akumal Caribe.

Nice rooms, nice staff, but hard to navigate and Wi-Fi was sketchy.

Great stay so far, amazing location, but the amazing staff really bring it all together. Great room, very comfortable and clean, kind of a hidden gem among the larger resorts.

Great people great staff. Tania our concierge! Wilbert main Bar always fun and entertaining excellent service Jazmin as well. Sintia as well. Hombre Orquesta Ageless was amazing what he can do with his one man band instruments! All the staff at the Sushi Bar as well as the front bar. All the staff is part of the great experience and really make our stay fun. Always smiling always laughing while working their tails off.

I went alone and the area was extremely safe. The resort was amazing, the views were incredible and the sea turtles were plentiful. I highly recommend the trip to anyone.

I really liked the vibe here. It was touristy but relaxed with plenty of space to spread out. A walk up the shoreline will take you to a more private area still within the bay. The hotel there has some beach chairs you can't sit in unless you're a hotel guest but they didn't mind us throwing a towel down and enjoying the empty beach. The water is only about waist deep got quite a way out, so it's good for kids too.

Excellent beach, especially after 6 pm. Spectacular zip.

I'm not a writer of reviews. But I was so thoroughly impressed with everything I experienced at Hotel Akumal Caribe that I couldn't not write about it. We chose Akumal after deciding Tulum was too populated and developed for our taste. Akumal is a small fishing village with a small handful of restaurants and not much nightlife to speak of. If that's your style, then this is your place. Photos will tell you about how gorgeous the setting is, but they won't tell you how friendly the staff is, how quick they were to bring you amenities you needed, and how they provide fresh beach towels every day, or several times a day, if necessary. Or how you'll enjoy the luxury of being able to swim in the pool, lie under a shaded cabana or swim in the ocean, all from the same vantage point. And you can walk back to your room for things you need in just a few minutes. It's all right there together. Everything is town is within walking distance, except a few restaurants and the lagoon at the end of the road, which is a short drive away on a sparsely populated road. I don't think we ever passed another car while we were driving it. The best thing… the seaweed problem they are having down there is at its least in Akumal. You can find clean, clear water in the Akumal Bay so the snorkeling is spectacular. We saw half a dozen huge turtles, sting rays, a squid and the most beautiful tropical fish, all just right off the beach at Club Akumal Caribe. We plan to go year after year.

This is the only one star rating I have ever given a resort. I'm probably going to forget some of what made this week a complete disaster. First, we arrived to find that my 73 year old mother in law and her son were given a room with one king size bed. After three hours they moved them to a 3rd story room whose stairs were under construction with two double beds. The stairs were so bad that my mother in law ended up staying in her room instead of venturing out. When I asked if the front desk manager, Luiz Gomez if he would put his mother in the room, he said no. When I asked the customer service manager if he would put he would put his mother in that room, he said no. Fact is no one should have been in that room while the stairs were being repaired. They gave us a bottle of tequila to try to make things right. Our wedding party had 20 people staying in the resort and this was their solution. Obviously, customer service is not something this resort understands. It took them three days to get my mother in law into a room that actually met her requirements after I wasted six hours making them understand the problem. Go somewhere else. Other problems included: Whale shark tour transportation didn't show up for a 5:40am tour. Getting a refund took three hours for the folks effected. Multiple restaurant reservations were not correct. It was always our party's fault. Tiles falling off the walls in the rooms.

My girlfriend and I stayed here over the Christmas of 2012. The snorkeling was amazing and we saw an abundance of sea life right off the beach. The best part was swimming with the turtles less than 50m off the beach. The food was very good and the variety was okay. We are already making plans to come back to this resort soon.

Everything excellent: location, care, staff, activities, and especially his concept of the "Unlimited Nature".
