Review of Villas HM Paraiso del Mar 4*

Simply put, amazing. We stayed here for 3 nights 2 years ago with our (then) two-year-old daughter after having spent 4 nights at Playa del Carmen. The most upsetting thing was that we didn't come here first! We would have spent our entire vacation here and most definitely plan on coming back. Here's the scoop: OK, check-in took a little while as we were a couple hour early. We had to wait. A pain, right? Not so much when you're lounging on a couch in the open-air lobby with a cold drink in your hand (that you didn't even have to ask for! ) and the hotel staff constantly updating you on your room status. When we got to our room (at the top of the spiral staircase), we were very pleased. Not too big but certainly not small, it had a nice big bed, a cozy sitting area with a big picture window, a mini-fridge, a good-sized closet and a bathroom en suite (that was far enough away from the bed if you know what I mean). The sitting area could be closed off from the rest of the room — perfect for my husband to have his coffee without waking me and the baby. The food was wonderful. Spectacular, even. My husband is a notoriously picky eater and even he was going back for seconds. I really want the recipe for their corn chowder — muy delicioso! We still dream about it. The manager (I believe his name was Rodolfo) could not have been more accommodating, helping us with everything from renting a golf cart (HIGHLY recommend doing this) to exchanging money to reserving a spot on the ferry when it was time to go. I almost want to say the place was terrible so that it wouldn't be over-run when we want to go, but we would like them to stay in business so they're there when we return, so GO! This place is what all relaxing vacations should be like.
