Wonderful return visits to one of favorite B&B’s. Lars, Memo and staff are amazing hosts! Such warm, helpful, informative, fun and just plain nice people! We first came to La Perla in the summer of 2017. WOW! We loved the hospitality and the beautiful hotel. We came back to stay twice in August 2018. My wife wanted to do shopping for our daughters wedding. This area has great bridal shops. The stays were just as memorable as 2017. Their knowledge of things to do in Guadalajara is so helpful. The hotel is filled with lovely art, and we always felt so relaxed and comfortable. We truly enjoyed our daily conversation with Lars, guests, hosts, and newfound friends. What a treat! We loved our room and patio. We can’t wait to come back next year.

Lars (I think he is going by Lorenzo these days) is a wonderful host with impeccable manners and a tremendous desire to be of service to others. He has made a huge success of La Perla and has received many distinctions and awards from TripAdvisor. We miss him in Indiana but know he is happiest in Guadalajara where he has burrowed into the hearts of Mexicans, visiting Americans, and other visitors from all parts of the world. Here is to more success and many more accolades to La Perla and Lars.

La Perla is a delightful place to stay in Guadalajara. It has all the basics like cleanliness, safety, reasonable price, good food, good location. What makes it exceptional are the hosts, who pay exquisite attention to your every need in order to make your stay with them stand out.

We were welcomed into Lorenzo's world with enthusiasm and the kind of consideration that we've never received anywhere else we've ever gone. Our stay was utterly unique, and reading the other reviews, we realize that the people of La Perla make every single guest feel unique. That's a sign of expertise in the hospitality business, but more than that — — it's a sign that everyone fully enjoys what they do. It was a pleasure being in this beautiful home — full of history and glamour, modernized, very safe and secure and in a terrific neighborhood. Sitting down to a delicious breakfast in charming company was a wonderful start to our days. Being given a special tour of the historical center of town made it easy to venture out on our own later on. We spent the end of the evenings with Lorenzo and his really cool and interesting friends at the La Perla bar/cafe around the corner, telling and listening to stories and laughing, laughing… eating cake and more laughing. Lorenzo, Memo, Adrian and Edgar made a decision to take " the road less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. "

We three woman had the most amazing time in Guadalajara thanks to Lars and his wonder team! From the moment we arrived and welcomed by Lars with open arms, big smile and a glass of wine. Lars gave us an overview of the city, showed us our clean and comfortable rooms and got us settled in before Adrian and Nacho gave us a walking tour of the town! Lars made all our arrangements for dinner reservations, tours and even gave us our own personalized cards with the hotel's address and phone number! Lars, Adrian, Nacho, Edgar, Jesus, Ulysses, and friends all made us feel so welcomed and loved! We had so much fun! We cannot say enough about the care, integrity, comfort and attention we were given. The breakfast were delicious and had hot coffee at the ready as soon as we woke. We loved our Happy Hours with Lars. He always treated us to glasses of wine and great conversations! An amazing and unforgetable experience. Muchas Gracias.

Great place to stay. Close to American consulate. Lots of restaurants a short walk. Friendly staff. Makes you feel at home.

Best B&B in Guadalajara. A charming boutique hotel in central Guadalajara located close to many historic landmarks. The rooms are all quite lovely and comfortable. The mirador or rooftop patio offers great views of this wonderful, vibrant Mexican city. Originally a mansion built for a 40's Mexican movie star, this B&B will make your stay in Guadalajara most memorable. But the real reason to stay at the La Perla is because of the staff. Owner/manager Lorenzo (Lars) was born to run a B&B. He makes all his guests feel like family. Stay a few nights and you will get to know the staff as friends for life. If you are lucky, Adrian will give you a walking tour the historical city center. The staff bends over backwards to make your stay unforgettable and enjoyable. Our flight into Guadalajara arrived very late and nearby restaurants were already closed. The after hours ham sandwich prepared for us was perfection and a perfect example of how La Perla goes out of its way to make you feel at home. La Perla has it all — — even a ghost! And you will learn the history of this amazing B&B though a series of anticipatory emails that Lorenzo sends to guest to prepare them for their visit. Highly recommended!

Great place! My second trip from Michigan. Love Guadalajara, so easy to walk around and safe. Great breakfast and the staff are terrific. So helpful with suggestions of what to do and where to go. Highly recommended! I'm going back next year!

La Perla is that one of a kind gem in Guadalajara! Lars and crew take such good care of you while you are there. They anticipate your every need. La Perla is the only way to see Guadalajara. Lars, Memo and the whole crew are so warm and genuine, and they want nothing more than to make your stay memorable. Thanks to the folks at La Perla, I felt like I had the opportunity to experience the real Guadalajara, not just the tourist spots. There's so much to do, I relied on them to help me figure out where to start. And they delivered. You'll feel like a movie star staying in this beautiful home with such impeccable service. I really can't say enough about La Perla!

What a wonderful vacation my husband and I had in Guadalajara while staying at La Perla! The staff thought of everything, no small detail was unnoticed. From very thorough directions of how to proceed from the airport, to dinner reservations, shopping experiences, special touches to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary and personal tours, the guys were fantastic. They thought of everything. Nestled in a beautiful tree lined area of the city, we felt very centrally located and safe. We loved walking to many of our destinations, especially dinners. (The city has fabulous food choices! ) We both look forward to staying at La Perla again. It feels like we have made new wonderful friends! Be prepared to enjoy yourselves and laugh plenty.

My girlfriend and I made plans to take a summer trip to Guadalajara and stay at a bed and breakfast. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical, because in all my past travels I had always stayed at hotels. However, I am so thankful that I listened to her and that we went ahead and booked our stay at La Perla. It was an amazing experience and one that I will always remember not only because of the destinations that we visited but because of our wonderful stay at La Perla. After landing in Guadalajara, my girlfriend and I rented a car and drove to my hometown 6 hours north of Guadalajara. After a short 3 day stay there we were ready to drive back to Guadalajara and start what was to become the best vacation I have ever had and that was entirely due to staying at La Perla. Upon arrival at La Perla we were greeted personally by Lorenzo and his warm and welcoming manner put at ease any reservations I may have had about staying at a bed and breakfast (I should stop calling La Perla a bed and breakfast, it became and felt like we were family and we were staying at "Uncle Lorenzo's" house). After unloading our bags, we had a small chat about La Perla and then the conversation turned to our trip to my hometown which Lorenzo and the others seemed genuinely interested about.

La Perla is a beautifully extremely well maintained mansion located in the Americana colony which is central location of the city. I have so much to share about this place. Where do I begin? From the moment that Lars collected me at the airport, I knew that my trip to Guadalajara was going to be special. This was my first visit to the area with a primary purpose of meeting family members. Lars (Lorenzo) and Guillermo (Memo) are always in tune with your travel needs while there. As soon as we arrived at La Perla and toured the house they offered to walk with me to a restaurant and that is where the fun an intimate experience commences. From that point forward the La Perla team is dedicated to helping you discover, learn and appreciate the warm Jaliscan hospitality. Every day coffee is served at 7 and breakfast at 9. Unlike other bed and breakfast hotels that I have visited, the team actually joins you and engages in conversation from daily political views (US and Mex) or planning for your day. La Perla is walking distance to several sites, next door to the UofG and the Expiatory, downtown, etc. You go about your day and if you want they will offer you a walking tour of the historical sites in central Guadalajara. When you return and are ready, they serve wine for the cocktail hour! At that point they help you plan your dinner and evening plans, etc. And offer to show you hopping sites if you desire. That is personalized show and tell regarding my visit.

It's relaxing, clean, awesome food, Lars does everything to make you feel at home.
