Agree with other posts that this is a solid choice for this particular city/country. And probably the best hotel I stayed in over 10 nights (although the standard generally is VERY basic). Friendly front of house. Safe, comfortable rooms. One caveat. It was Ramadan and it would have been nice if the dining room staff (or any staff) warn guests they’re going to drop tools at sunset for 45 minutes whilst they eat their own food. Absolutely they need to eat but if you’re told in advance you can get fed first. Frankly I wouldn’t pick this time to travel here as everything is closed all day and it detracts significantly from your experience. Mauritania has built a tourism school which, allegedly, is opening this year.
