We really like the hotel. Brilliant location opposite the sea. Our room is exceptionally clean. Very comfortable bed. Lots of storage space. Tea and coffee making facilities and fridge. Safe at an additional charge. We booked a sea view and asked for a high gloor and we were not disappointed. The view is stunning! The breakfast and dinner have been great. A good selection on the buffet. Lovely helpful staff. Great roof top terrace. The swimming pool on the roof is closed due to end of season. Will definitely stay here again.

Been coming here for the last 12 years friendly staff good food with a variety of choice and clean rooms can recommend it.

Lovely hotel everyone friendly staff are wonderful been coming to this hotel for 16years have never had any problems. Malta is a very interesting place to visit.

Nice employees, really listening to our needs and available for us. The rooms are clean, and the cleaners are nice and work well. The accommodations are cool. The hotel was built more than 25 years ago, and you can feel it in the style of the rooms. Only "bad" thing : the mattress wasn't great quality and we had backache at the end of the week.

The Diplomat hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The suggestions given by the front desk made our stay in Malta more interesting. From explaining why on certain days people were celebrating (big music party floats after an national election), to finding reasonably priced restaurants in Sliema or which cafes were trendy. The nearby walkway along Tower road made for wonderful walks to nearby St-Juliens, and after a long hot day the pool on the roof with bar was a perfect way to cool off.

We spent a great week at this hotel, staying half board, which proved an excellent choice for us. All of the meals were buffet style, but with a good range of dishes from many cuisines, freshly prepared and of a consistently high quality. Several of the excellent and economic Malta bus routes pass the hotel, which is also not far from the Sliema Valetta ferry, making it an excellent location as a base for travelling about, as well as being in a well served resort. When we visit again, we'll be looking to re-book.

Not recommended for families with children, small pool terrace. It was a very nice hotel.

The hotel is a bit little old. And in my opinion, 4 stars do not pull. The furniture is old, air conditioning is controlled from the room, but in May, on hot days poorly managed, balcony with partial sea view, did not like its fence. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. The pool is not large (on the roof of the hotel).

Loved the hotel itself, its location in the city, enjoyed the hotel service, relaxed atmosphere and goodwill to its guests! Very nice kitchen and polite waiters! I would like to come to this hotel again! ❤

Great Disappointment Sea view? Put yourself in 9o degrees on the balcony. Your view of the building D across the street.
The room, the trunk no lock, the television does not work, but parlonsde Lasalkede bath.
The toilet stuck between the wall and the bathtub, do not be too big if not inaccessible, the shower fixed on the wall no flexi, the faucets repaired with Scotch.
As a bonus if you are French this language is totally unknown…
Do not recommend this hotel great disappointment for the booking site.

Facilities old, breakfast is very general, basically no change, the room is facing the sea, the view is good, the staff attitude is very good, convenient transportation, high safety factor. Happy stay!

Well located. In front of the sea, and beautiful Roman pools. From this location it is easy to get to know the island. But Silema's aesthetic is not the prettiest in Malta. The breakfast of the hotel is varied but of low quality. It's better to have some Creppes, or have a coffee somewhere else. The clean hotel is not bad, and the upstairs pool has its charm. You can hire through an agency in the hotel. Different routes and guided by all Malta, Gozo and cumin.

Little food selection partly no WLAN or very poor reception.

Good value for money. The hotel is ideally located to experience sightseeing and culture. But if you want to spend a quiet relaxing holiday in a large hotel complex, Malta is out of place because almost every hotel is located on the main street.
The hotel is clean, the staff nice and the food OK. For breakfast you have a bigger choice than in some other hotel in Sliema. The dinner is also OK, but the selection is not great. You must not have any great demands UBD may not be picky or you should just book Bed and breakfast.
On the roof of the hotel there is a swimming pool and the sea is opposite. You just have to cross the go across and you're on the promenade.

Room was clean but easy to come by.
The bathroom could be bigger but was also clean.
The breakfast buffet is OK. The dinner is good edible, but you can't expect a star menu.

Hotel is not a 4 star. It's just ok. Clean and tidy place. Ac doesn't work. Front staff is bit rude. House keeping people are warm. Good hotel because of nice location. For the budget, it's just fine.

Good location for transport and things to do. Rooms are basic, food is not the best.

If you're on a budget this place is for you. Needs modernisation but the location is great and the breakfast is decent. TV is poor if you are looking for a English channels and there is no air conditioning in the rooms.

Great breakfast. Well stocked and level music! Unique in the Wi-Fi which in reception takes well but on the 3rd floor does not exist. And in the breakfast room total zero. It is then isolated. Other than that I recommend it. Is located on the sea.

Hotel in need of a facelift only the reception is nice. Food 1* canteen style. Only 1 salad dressssing mayonnaise no alternatives. Diner & Breakfast cold most of the time, fruit dried or tinned except for an apple! Would not recommend this hotel. Here with Saga who have used it for 30 years but it’s definitely time for them to look elsewhere. Staff are fine, beds okay, pillows from the ark, rooms jaded but clean. Heating/air conditioning doesn’t function properly. Food definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

It's a nice hotel. Good breakfast and dinner. Good-natured staff. Separately, thanks to the waiter Anastasia — all told, and secondly a positive person. The hotel is on the beach, has a good location and transport accessibility.

I am in this hotel every year. 4 years already. Always very satisfied. Especially with the cleanliness of the housekeeping. I like to leave tips. The less I have been satisfied with the reception for 4 years. The ladies are annoyed and arrogant. Unfortunately! In the meantime I got used to this clientele. The special blast was when they looked at me obliquely to take the tourist tax. Sorry, but in Germany we have nothing to do with such a rip off. I am happy to come back!

Very clean room with lovely seaviews, friendly staff, great breakfast! We spent our new year's eve here. Loved the gala night dinner. Great value for money. Keep it up!

There was mildew at the bathroom, full breakfast and dinner didn't include any drings (they wanted extra money for it! ) and we had "sea view" and there was other apartment view in 7meters. Something good: That hotel's cleaner was very nice and positively! I can't recommend that hotel to anybody! In my country "sea view" means that you can actually see that sea. And in my country four (****) hotels are lots betters than that Diplomat hotel.

Nice hotel, quiet location and the breakfast was one of the best I've had. However, sea view could mean you have to be able to look around corners.

Good hotel, great location, view from the roof is awesome, put 4 stars deservedly.

Booked with booking. Half board. All inclusive, but just arrived we were informed that drinking, including water, was ruled out. Breakfast and dinner buffet, abundant and with ample choice.

Air-conditioning not working properly. (Perhaps just our room. ) Sliding door onto very small balcony very stiff. Condensation on double-glazing made seeing through window difficult. Staff very attentive and helpful.

Not as advertised. Old, dirty, generally poor service. Rooms are not in good order. Very hot (even on a cool November day) and extremely noisy with main street traffic right outside the window. The front desk staff flat out lied to members of our group regarding hotel availability when discussing an overlooking issue — details spared here, but trust me, they lied! Not part of hotel directly, but located within the lobby: Tour service for maltasightseeing hop on hop off is 30% higher than price on the street, for half the service (north or south only). Work your own transportation to Gozo as well, to save time and money — spent an hour on the "charter" going hotel to hotel just getting other passengers, on top of the commute to ferry terminal. Could easily have been to ferry terminal within an hour using public bus, and would have caught an earlier ferry to make better use of limited time in Malta. The rep is friendly and polite, but don't waste your time and money with this vendor! Highlight of our hotel stay is the lady who runs breakfast and puts a smile on people's faces! She's great!

Excellent hotel for logistics as a central between the young and the most mature nightlife. A little bit retro in the structure (should be updated! ). Very good breakfast and very helpful staff.

You have to insist that the bed sheets are changed, the meal at the hotel is not good at all!

Pay everything in cash, otherwise they will try to charge you extra. Extremely rude staff at the reception. English breakfast with canned beans lacks any ambition. Breakfast is hectic and the only coffee machine was broken twice during one week. This small room they call "the fitness centre" is basically useless, also the sauna is a joke. Bedspread smelly with cigarette holes. If you are about to choose this hotel because of its location, don't! It's a small city and probably any other hotel will be just as good — maybe even better, for example closer to the sandy beaches or shopping.

I stayed at the Diplomat 4 years ago, food was good, service was excellent. You get what you paid for. For my wife and I was perfect accommodation for the prize we ve paid.
This year we were in Malta at Sliema next to Diplomat in June /July 2017 although we didn't stay at the Diplomat because we had 3 kids with us, we used their breakfast facilities for a month. I would like to thank Leigh for his patience with us and a big thanks to Slyvana and Evelyn for their dedicated work they do. I wish the rest of the kitchen crew are mannered, helpful and more polite with the tourists. Taking a leaf out of Evelyn. Evelyn you are the best, hard working, polite and get along with everybody person. We missed you every morning preparing our tables. We will get back to Malta and come to see you again! well done. Thanks for the receptionist for helping us. (Sorry I can't remember her name). Thanks to Rachel for her assisting us in out time of need. David and Sonya Australia.

Rooms full of humidity, first night wet sheets not to say wet, staff, not helpful, elderly, unkind and arrogant in the answers they gave. If you can find more.

Hotel is old fashioned outdated, room with "partial" sea view has no sea view but a lot of neighbours across the street. AC didn't work, just make noise, room was very humid, very old and smelly. Terrible… I do not understand how it is a four star hotel? There were strong smell of mildew everywhere in the hotel, it's a four stars of the 70s! I booked a triple room but, was given a twin room with an extra bed, in a very, very small room (like 10m2). At one morning at 8 a. M. We was sleeping and someone was knocking in ours doors, we did not answer, so she unlocked the door and came inside — it was chambermaid! no "sorry" at all! Very noisy place all the night. Only good things were location, breakfast and pool on the roof. Balconies were very small and you could only stand there, not enough space to sit. It looks better in their pictures than in reality.

Location is great. Wifi was very spotty, but biggest complain is the ride booking service located in the lobby. My wife and I arranged a taxi to take us to the airport for our departing flight the next day. The driver was 45 minutes late with no explanation or apology, and then when I did not offer a large tip (sorry but you made us almost miss our flight), he told us it was "illegal not to tip" in Malta which of course is not true and we walked away from him.

Lovely hotel food excellent service and staff fabulous only let down was pool area no steps or ladder into shallow part of pool and the area below pool beside lift was dirty and smelly.

Not a very welcoming staff (at least at reception). Our travel agent left a message for us but even asking 4 times for it, nobody at reception knew where it was. Breakfast buffet was exactly the same eeeeevery day. Old-fashioned and, definitely, not a 4* hotel.

Located on Sliema waterfront, the room is well-kept and clean, every morning change of sheets and cleaning of the bathrooms with change dry. 4 stars because the shower didn't work on duty but you're anyway. Reception welcomes you with cordial manners, all speak Italian if you have difficulty with English. Breakfast was very good. From experience I recommend it.

Nice room. Good location and atmosphere.

Hotel rather well located (near), our room was spacious, the breakfast was good (better to avoid meat that said). The terrace with pool on the roof was very convenient.
On the other hand, if you rely on Wi — Fi in your room to avoid the odd floors! It has of modems one floor on two and in the 5th he was impossible to use internet, we were forced to go down to the reception. Not very practical. The staff is friendly at first but as soon as we have a problem, employees pass the buck and drown fish.
Overall, the hotel is aging but rather neat.
The clientele is mostly older.

My wife and I have just arrived back into the UK after a weeks holiday in Malta. This was our first visit to the Island. On arrival at the Diplomat Hotel we were greeted at the reception by a very helpful member of staff, booking in was very easy with no problems. We really enjoyed the pool that is located on the roof, the pool and sun bathing area are well looked after. The rooms are very clean and tidy, the maids supplied fresh towels and cleaned the room daily. Staff at the restaurant do a splendid job, the service was very good, Food was excellent with a varied choice on the menu. Bar staff very helpful and always willing to give advise on locations to visit on Malta. We will visit Malta again either this year or early next and would not hesitate to stay at the Diplomat hotel again. My Wife and I would like to thank all staff at the Diplomat Hotel for making this short visit worth while.

Hotel class 3 with a medium-sized rooms. Shower reasonable. Small balcony with some sea views and a lot of neighbors across the street. Excellent Service. Good breakfast and nutritious. Shift manager named Giuliano was Great with a lot of recommendations for what you want in the area. Do Not access the table tourist company in the lobby. They are cheaters and not deliver what they promised. Better to take guides and organized tours out on the street. Bus stops close by 50 meters. If u like action better find hotel at san jilian. More turistic zone. More cafes restaurants bars and shops.

Good to stay here, good place good money.

The hotel isn't too luxury but is comfortable and the sea views from some rooms are spectacular.
