Reef Hotel & Spa

Amazing one week stay at the Reef Hotel.
Room was spacious with an amazing balcony, bed was super comfy and the bathroom was also very nice.
We visited the two pools, the rooftop is bigger and has an amazing view over Marsalforn, but the ambience on the Olive Garden pool ended up conquering our hearts.
Breakfast includes a lot of options, is constantly being refilled and no one had a problem with us eating breakfast in the comfort of our rooms.
Good:
Staff was amazing. Many thanks to Sophija from Housekeeping (if it wasn't for her bottles of water we would have dehydrated from the heat as the tap water is salty/chlorined, she also made a small gesture for my girlfriend's birthday, but which meant alot ❤️) and Challa from the restaurant/pool/room service-out-of-hours, who makes amazing mojitos and a very friendly and hard working guy.
Folks at the reception were also friendly and helpful. The staff was the best of this hotel.
Not-so-good:
Shower handle was broken, shower drainage was not perfect so bathroom flooded easily.
Some paint was coming off the walls and ceiling. And you guys need to turn down the AC at the lobby at night a bit, your not supposed to wear turtlenecks with 34° and we should not have to leave/enter the hotel with jackets 😅

The hotel is in a great location in Marsalforn Bay and offers spacious, comfortable rooms with excellent facilities. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but there were a few aspects that let it down.
The main issue was our room, which had a very unpleasant smell whenever the air conditioning was on. We also noticed the smell each time we entered the room, which made it quite unpleasant at times.
The breakfast itself was good, and when we ate at around 7:30am each morning before diving, it was quiet and enjoyable. However, on our final day we went at 9:00am, and it was a completely different experience. The restaurant was extremely overcrowded, food wasn’t being replenished quickly enough, and the whole area felt chaotic and disorganised. If that was our experience everyday, we’d have found an alternative.
The hotel is pretty new overall but unfortunately it didn’t feel like a new hotel as the cleaning is so poor — meaning it’s going to age very quickly if management don’t get on top of it. The lifts were grubby, the floors were noticeably unclean and the sun loungers were really stained.
All of the service staff were friendly but not what you’d consider four star European standard, and they lacked basic service intuition. The staff in the rooftop bar were particularly ignorant — another guest had to ask them to stop playing ai-generated rave music so loudly, and one staff member tried to take away half drank cocktails.

Beautiful hotel, perfectly designed laced with a lovely little bay 2 mins walk. Easy transport links and tours collecting from hotel. The staff were delightful and went above and beyond to be of assistance. Checking in and out was a breeze. The rooms were fantastic! We had room 505 and 508.505 was definitely the best. The shower is HUGE! We also had a great view from there. The breakfast was brilliant, fresh fruits, pastries, full English etc. Restaurant food was delicious and very well priced. The spa massage was brilliant, the massage therapist was an expert! The pools were lovely, the rooftop pool had a great view. Smallish hotel and excellent service. Our rooms were cleaned and replenished every day. The rooms were so clean, we had perfect air con, comfy beds, marble floors and bathroom and a balcony. Personally I would have liked the pools to stay open longer (6-7pm they close). The spa indoor pool and jacuzzi were out of service which was a shame.

I stayed at the reef in June 2026 with a family group of 6. It is a very nice, swanky hotel that is designed somewhat tastefully. I think the architect could’ve incorporated less of the glass, and more of the limestone available in the local region. Breakfast was reasonably nice, but the eggs could’ve used some work — boiled eggs were hard to peel and the scrambled eggs were powdered. Rooms were very spacious and luxurious. AC worked well and the beds were so comfy. They were cleaned everyday and early, to a very high standard. The staff were very friendly, especially at the roof top bar. Anthony was very friendly, smiley and helpful. We had great conversations with him and he always remembered us and what we liked to drink. Overall we had a great stay and the hotel facilitated an amazing week in Gozo!

Definitely the best hotel in Marsalforn. Clean, classy and great breakfast (except hash browns, they are inedible from being steamed from the silver lid)
However dining staff appear clueless and stressed. Ordering food on 10th floor pool was a disaster, they said I could but I would have to go to my room to get a menu. Why offer food without providing a menu? They didn't know what was going on. Sometimes I would be talking to staff at the bakery/bar near reception and they would just walk away half way through conversation. My partner and I would laugh at how rude they could be. When I asked about allergens (nut allergy) they would just guess. NOT good enough. Staff need more training. Doors also slam loudly on the rooms. Otherwise, very good choice if staying in marsalforn, good pool, good location to town centre, clean modern and nice managerial staff. Dining staff let it down.

Amazing few days we had in this hotel!
Rooms are big, lots od storage, mini fridge, safe, blackout blinds…
Breakfast was also good, especially eggs and grilled tomatoes. Fresh fruits were really fresh and so tasty!
We ordered once room service for dinner. Beef carpaccio was very tasty, but pumpkin risotto not that much…. Cake I got was still frozen, tiramisu tasted very sweet, lacked other flavors…
Spa wasn’t open to use. But all the pools were. We liked most one on the rooftop.

Michelle & her staff are absolutely incredible @Gozo! Been all over the world & rarely experienced this type of exceptional customer service. Just WOW! The comfort & style of the rooms, the 5 star dining experience, the generous & empathetic manager… every single staff member deserves a standing ovation… truly! I million times thank you to The Reef Hotel in Gozo! Book your stay NOW!

2nd time I have stayed here and will keep coming back for sure — great value, excellent location and amazing staff too. Most comfortable rooms and beds ever! Breakfast was also lovely with lots to choose from. Highly recommend. Cant wait to come and use the spa once it’s officially open!

Very friendly staff which always came directly to us for information or smalltalk, felt very welcomed.
Hotel itself was very new but also a bit unorganised at some points. When its done it has great potential.
Locationwise its directly on a road but it was quiet in novembre in the evening hours but also I think its mandatory to have a rental car.
Very comfortable bed and good working AC! Whole hotel seemed clean.
Things to improve:
Shower started leaking from the rain shower in the middle of the night and the other shower parts didnt seem correct installed.
Cast TV often didnt work correctly.
On our 6 Nights we had 3 course menu every evening but 2 days in a row we had the same. Waiting time from order to food was pretty long on some days even with low tourists.

We came across this hotel by accident, and liked what was advertised. We wanted a chilled Christmas break and The Reef gave us just that. Transfers were not included but it was easy to get an uber to the ferry and the very fast ferry across to Gozo. On arrival the reception staff were so hospitable and accommodating and made us feel very welcome and ready to enjoy our stay. The room was very nice and front facing with a balcony matching what was on the website.
Meals at the Reef was excellent to which I must commend the head Chef Glen whose love for cooking and people was demonstrated and felt for our entire stay. If I could have brought him back to England I would.
The breakfast staff especially who they called China were very attentive as was Angelic and the rest of the house keeping team.
Getting around the island by bus is very accessible from the hotel and the reception staff are happy to tell you which buses to take. There are so many beautiful things to see when going for a walk but be warned there are some hills.
Sadly the spa wasn't open yet so I couldn't review that. So please check if this is one of the reasons you are going. So yes was disappointed but it didn't take away from the amazing stay that I had. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want a nice place to relax and unwind.

We are delighted with the atmosphere and the dining experience! A warm welcome by a lovely young lady on our arrival at the desk! The room was cosy and the views were stunning! Double washroom was an additional bonus! The Kitchen staffs were absolutely amazing. Delicious meal with lots of varieties served with special care!
A home away from home and definitely will visit again!

The staff did an outstanding job! They were so friendly and hospitable — the atmosphere was welcoming and warm. The interior design was modern jet comfortable. It was generally clean, the breakfast buffet left nothing wanting. We would enjoy to come back another time.

5 Stars from this end. We had an excellent experience at The Reef. The room was spacious and very comfortable. I requested a few additional amenities — including a higher table to work from on the balcony — and everything was provided promptly and with a smile.
The food was also excellent, and the staff were consistently helpful, friendly, and attentive throughout my stay.
Highly recommended, and I will definitely be returning.

This hotel is definitely a place I’ll return to in the future! When I arrived, I wasn’t feeling well, and the staff immediately went out of their way to make special arrangements in my room to accommodate my needs. The receptionist was incredibly helpful, and all the staff were genuinely friendly and caring.
We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast — delicious and with plenty of variety. The rooms are very modern, clean, and comfortable. Overall, a wonderful stay and highly recommended!

Great hotel. Everything is brand new. Roof top pool is amazing. Staff very friendly and welcoming. My 2nd time on gozo. Rooms are a great size with everything you could need. Will definitely be back. Only complaint is the Spa isn't open yet but I knew that on booking. Great breakfast, 2 pools. Pool side bar closed but that's because it's currently off season.

We loved this hotel from the moment we walked in and were so warmly greeted by Kinga. The breakfast was great and the breakfast/bar staff also. The bedroom was lovely, really spacious and the bed was so comfortable. I really recommend this hotel. The balcony was small but very private and the views were great across the valley. The restaurants down at the sea front were very good. We tried Otters and Pierre’s and thought they were both great. There is a small car park at the hotel and plenty of parking available on the local streets if the car park is full. My only gripe would be the lighting is too bright in the evening in the bar area when relaxing with a drink. This hotel is excellent value for money. The maids were also very friendly and helpful. Thanks guys are making our short stay at your hotel so enjoyable.

We have just returned from a very nice week at this hotel. It has just recently been opened in recent months, and there were a few snagging issues that the hotel needs to address; the hotel is aware and has it in hand. Additionally, the spa is not yet complete, but we were aware of this when we booked; this did not interfere with our holiday at all. The rooftop swimming pool is great, if a little chilly at this time of year, with plenty of sunbeds, chairs, tables, and parasols. On arrival, we were upgraded to a better room. Sabana at the reception was most helpful on check-in and throughout our stay. In fact, all the staff were impeccable and a credit to the hotel and the management, everyone tried their best to assist and enhance our stay, with time to talk with advice on wine from Arun, for our meal, Anthony who promptly served from the bar, Carol and Stefan who dug out ferry timetables, directions, where to go, what to see and advised on many little things that only locals would know, and little details can turn a good holiday into a great one. (Eg. Use Bolt instead of Uber). Bolt is slightly more expensive, but you will get a driver quickly, as the drivers prioritise Bolt as they earn more. When you have a function to attend and time is tight, you do not want to miss the start, messing around to get a cab that will not turn up.
Our room was well decorated, clean, and airy with a small but functional balcony, ideal to sit on and drink coffee of a morning.
