Island Backpackers have been astoundingly accommodating and hospitable to me personally and many TRACC volunteers. They are really close to the bus terminal, so if you come to Semporna on the night-bus it's very quick to walk to the hostel in the early morning. Also, because it's so central there are many places to eat, banks and supermarkets nearby. It's only a 10minute walk to either jetty, and if you have your dive gear it's a RM5 Grab ride. The hostel has two big dorms, one small dorm and six private rooms. The showers and toilets are all shared. If you need a place to stay long-term the hostel has limited kitchen facilities and currently no washing machine, but there are plenty of places in town to do those things and the communal living areas are more valuable. This is an especially good hostel if you have a big mixed group because they can spread you through the dorms and rooms and the living areas are nice for people to hang out in. I really can't recommend them highly enough.
Island Backpackers is the best hostel in Semporna! Everything is really clean and the staff is just amazing — very helpful and friendly! I totally recommend staying here :)
