The first bad surprise after checkin was that all the matresses in the room were wrapped in plastic so it makes noises whenever you move. Then we took a shower but there were no hot water in either of bathrooms. When we asked at the reception how is it possible and why didn't he tell us, the receptionist said it's broken and started to mummble something about his bosss not allowing him to do so! It was late so we said ok and we went to bed. 2 hours later we woke up and realised that the bed was full of BED BUGS! There were at least 10 of them and we got bitten a lot! We took the pictures and went to the reception where we had to wait for someone to show up. When the recpetionist saw what happened, he offered us to move to the other room which was surely "bugs free"! This was unacceptable so we ask for our money back. After long arguing we got it and left the hostel at 1.30 AM. We were very dissapointed.
Very helpful manager (Sheila) organising tours to islands and around the area. Very good location in the city centre of Kota Kinabalu. Bars are close by. Basic budget hostel with great location.
