Ace Inn Shinjuku Hostel

Pros:Clean rooms and beds. Much lower price and higher availability on weekends then rest of capsules weve checked. Cons:Location not so close to any center. All facilities are very simple with no decoration or extra comfort (but all are functioning and seems clean).

Really nice and peaceful, staff very friendly. Clean everywhere, nice access to private toilets and showers. Cheap too!

Not the most modern looking but offers 24 hour reception, free towels and amenities. Lockers were very skinny so I had to unpack my valuables and kept my backpack out on a rack. Rooms have air con and there is a cracking view of you're in one of the higher floors (I was floor 5/10).

Good hotel with helpful staff. Need to pay 100Y for ten minutes shower but they give towels and 10 minutes its enough.

Old equipment, no Wi-Fi bath, and every 10 minutes out of the coin. Besides the counter, everything else is rotten to the crack.

Location great. Staff great. Beds in dorm are not so great. Do not expect a mattress or a duvet that covers you. I had to choose between keeping my feet or my chest warm.

Affordable while being in the center of Tokyo. Very friendly staff. Capsules with an option for more privacy. However, some sleeping areas can be very dim at night. Chilly in winter. Coin-operated showers. An ofuro room is available for an extra fee.

Very friendly and available staff. Showers are clean and individual. But we couldn't sleep because of the Japanesingly thin mattresses! If it's no bother to you, go ahead, but I for one barely got 4 hours of sleep every night.

Ace Inn Shinjuku is perfectly located between Shinjuku and Chiyoda, right in the core of Tokyo. However, is not as close to Shinjuku Station as you could think, considering the name. The nearest subway station is Akebonobashi (Toei line), 2 station away of Shinjuku. The place is very clean, comfortable, the staff speaks English quite well, the only minus is that the showers are located one level below ground floor. Also, for taking a shower you'll need 100 Yen (1 US dollar), no big deal, but it had to be mentioned. The common space is located at the last level, the 8th floor and has a great view of Tokyo (it would have been even better if the building was taller).

Not particularly clean, but cubby beds are wide and comfortable. Easy location, however there is a curfew and can be difficult to get back in if you miss it.

To Japanese standard this place is dirty. They have "capsules" bed for 3000yen. The 2000yen advertised on the building are for the open area on the 9th floor. Make sure to ask for that otherwise they will tell you that it's not available. There is a subway station a 100 meters away and a grocery store, 7 eleven and a few great place to eat just around the corner.

Very cheap, helpful staff. You get what you pay for but for the price, it's hard to complain. The place is a little banged up but it's clean and I would stay here again.

I really enjoyed staying here for 2 nights. The location was great and the capsules were comfortable. The showers were a little dirty, but overall it was pretty good.

Great last minute hostel. For the price it's missing quite a few things from other hostels in the same price range. Overall, no curfew and be extra cautious sout your belongings. No cameras in rooms or entryways.

I stayed in that capsule hotel for like a week. The most of the time I slept in the capsule section. Because of reservations I could change to the big room with many beds for a cheaper price then for a night in the capsule. The capsules were really comfortable and you could think that it was very noisy, because of the curtain-doors, but it was not. Everybody was really nice there. Most of the people who stayed there were from outside of Japan. In the entrance room you can use two computers with internet and you could also use free Wi-Fi on your devices. The staff was really nice and helpful. On the other side of the street was a convinience store and shinjuku was like 5 — 10 minutes by foot. The subway station Akebonobashi was also just 2 minutes away.

Pretty pleasant experience when I stayed here. Short walk to the Tokyo metro and Toei line, so it was very convenient, also.

Fantastic place to stay! The hostel itself is easily accessible and is within walking distance of Akebonobashi Station. The hostel staff are warm and friendly, and the hostel itself provides enough for a comfortable stay. I personally find the capsules nice and cosy and it also offers a lot of privacy. Will definitely stay here when I come to Tokyo again in future.

Be prepared to sleep on the boards, and wait for a free outlet. Snoring and tossing and turning all night + cold.

The hotel is really great. The staff is very congenial and helpful. Wi-fi is available in the lobby. Price is also doable. The luxury capsule beds are really spacious and comfy. There is a electric socket outside the capsule, near the table. AC vent is not there IN the capsule. The lockers are a bit too compact to store big luggage; but you can leave them with the staff downstairs.

I loved every bit of this hostel. After a terrible stay in seoul, I was delighted to finally have found a comfortable place worth both the time and the money. The place is superbly strategic, very near to the subway, the receptionists were the friendliest and the most helpful hotel receptionists I've ever met, but then again all japanese people are like that which made my entire visit awesome. Though I didn't get to stay in a capsule bed as I hoped for, I was glad I got the common dorm with other people to make friends with. The room was comfortable, spacious, clean, warm and it has its own toilet. The bathroom which was in the basement was clean and comfortable although might be a bit claustrophobic for europeans. Overall, I really3 enjoyed my stay in Ace inn shinjuku and 5 stars from me. I love Japan and will definitely come back.

The location, the staff, and the price are great! The hostel itself however was incredibly dirty. The lobby reeks of cat urine and the floor we stayed had its own odd sent. When taking a shower I noticed a lot of black mold on the ceiling. Overall we wished we had spent a few more dollars and stayed somewhere cleaner.

So far loving this place. Made friends with a wide variety of folks just hanging out inside.

It's everything I look for in a hostel-24h reception, strong and fast Wi-Fi on every floor, hot strong and clean shower (100 yen was alright), thick blankets. I find the cleanliness to be acceptable; have stayed in far worse hostels. I highly recommend the shared dorm on the top floor. They also have capsules and you pay more for the privacy but those rooms seem more dingy and claustrophobic. With the family mart and its array of delicious ready made food just down the street you don't really need the kitchen facilities which they lack. There are also small cafes and restaurants nearby on the same street. The hostel is on the Toei line which is slightly more expensive than the metro lines. The mattresses are thin futons so you can feel the slats underneath.

Great experience staying at Ace Inn. Right on the subway line and in the middle of the city it is the perfect location to easily get to all the fun spots in Tokyo. It is not a fancy spot to stay but it is kept clean and is great if you are looking for a place to sleep and store your luggage while you are out on the town. Staff was very helpful. I will be staying here again next time I visit.
