We booked this place directly rather than going through a platform, and it turned out to be a great decision.
My mum and I had a really lovely stay. The house is gorgeous. The room was incredibly comfortable, and the two hosts were genuinely wonderful — warm, attentive, and equipped with what might be the best translation app we’ve ever seen. We don’t speak a word of Japanese, but communication was seamless and even added a bit of fun to the experience.
Both dinner and breakfast were traditional, beautifully prepared, and felt truly homemade — the kind of meals that make you slow down and appreciate where you are.
The bath is located in a separate part of the building, which might sound unusual at first, but actually adds a charming, almost nostalgic touch to the stay. Everything — from the bath to the shower, toilets, and sink — is impeccably clean and clearly renovated to a high standard. There’s even a small kitchen area, perfect for putting together a quick snack if needed.
And a special mention for the warmth of the place — genuinely warm, which anyone who has traveled in Japan will know is something of a luxury!
All in all, a cozy, welcoming, and memorable stay. We’d happily come back if we get a chance!

By far one of the highlights of our month-long trip to Japan. Amazing place, cozy, warm, authentic, historical and peaceful.
The hosts were incredible, they taught us about the town and the house, explained about Japanese traditions and were very accommodating with the fact that I’m vegetarian. They prepared an amazing (vegetarian friendly) dinner and breakfast!
It is a must place to stay :)

Staying with Hiro and Yuki at their homestay was a highlight of our trip. They were such generous and kind hosts and took great care of us. Their home is beautiful and the neighborhood is peaceful and lovely.
