The best hotel experience I have ever had, period. No other hotels come close in terms of service.

We stayed 2 nights here. Best Ryokan experience. Super delicious meals, beautiful place with super clean room and outstanding service. Everything you want for a relaxing and pampering stay.

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Kinnotake Tonosawa. It was the perfect way to celebrate and two days was not enough.

The private onsen and detail-oriented staff are amazing, so relaxing!

We spent three nights at Fujiya Hotel and had a wonderful experience overall. Our room was spacious and had its own private onsen bath with natural hot spring water.

Our stay in Hakone Kowakien Tenyu was more than perfect. Service is of the very high standard and staff is so friendly.

Stayed here during my second trip to hakone. The price per night is on the higher end for hakone accommodations, but that is to be expected when you are booking for more luxury options.

Amazing service from everyone and delicious food. Miss Hagiya, in particular, was very helpful and kind and spoke great English.

The town of Gora is nice enough and you may be tempted to stay in a bigger brand near the centre of town. My advice… make the effort.
A little secluded but in a good way.

Beautiful hotel with a perfect view of the lake and right next to public transportation options. The deluxe lake view room was huge and very clean.

We had a 3D2N stay here and the view of Lake Ashi from our room's floor-to-ceiling window was simply gorgeous! It was unforgettable.

A bit far from the station, there is a bus/ shuttle but we chose not to take it, the walk is around 20 min and you go through the city with all the shops and restaurants.

Had a very pleasant stay here for two nights, the hotel is in a beautiful location next to the river and is about a 20 minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto station, or 5 minutes in a taxi or bus.

Hidden gem.

Roomy lodgings, delicious food, and a tub to relax in cover all the things I want from a ryokan.

I hate how most of the non 5 — stars are from entitled tourists with no common sense. This was a fantastic establishment. With phenomenal staff and even greater environment. 7/11 down the street.

We only stayed for 1 night and immediately wished we had more time there! The accommodations were excellent. The staff was extremely helpful. We had a sumptuous dinner and breakfast during our stay.

Stayed one night in late September 2025. We brought our three kids, ages 12, 8, and. 6 with us who absolutely loved it. The gardens were amazing, nice to walk through and relax.

My partner and I stayed here for one night in November and it was the highlight of our 2 week trip to Japan. We wish we had booked to stay for longer.

What can I say about this hotel. The experience was absolutely outstanding. It was one of the few times I felt right at home. The lounge area in the lobby feels like the living room of your house.

Had a wonderful time. If you plan to walk to the hotel, it's a hike! They offer shuttle van services in a nice and comfortable van.

VERY easy to get to hotel from Gora Station. Directions on website are very clear and the best way to find the hotel. Our room had a private onsen and footpath, also came with a free bedrock bath!

Updated rating. Overall this place pretty good. Just the washroom could be better.

We had the most amazing time here — 2A & 2C. The room/apartment we had was stunning, with private onsen, breakfast and dinner served in our room, a little bridge in our hallway, outside seating,

My family enjoyed the onsen and the meal very much.
We ordered 4 sets of beef shabu-shabu and 2 sets of sashimi for dinner and didn’t expect the huge portions of food. We couldn’t finish all food.

The room was very clean, spacious, and had a comfortable sofa, which made the stay even more relaxing. The bed was very comfortable, and we slept well.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

My true rating would be 4.5. My only criticism is the hotel lobby is a bit dated, however, everything else was great. The rooms are very nicely renovated and a comfortable size.

Our stay at the Hakone Kowakien Hotel in April was truly wonderful. The cool, cloudy weather added a peaceful charm to the entire experience, making it the perfect setting to relax and unwind.

The best memory my mother and I ever had! All staff were very nice, professional and the hotel provides 5 star resort service.

This was, by far, the biggest hotel room I've ever had. The staff was helpful and the rooms were clean. None of the signage in the hallways had English.

Rooms: 4 of us stayed in a 8 person room with nice view, and we were able to sleep in separate rooms, the room was clean and the interior was delightful.

Good older style hotel. Really good quality water at the onsen and it is great that it's opened till late.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The room and bed was quite comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast was good though not very delicious as expected.

Average type room, although kept clean. Dated decor, but acceptable. We organised half board, so breakfast and dinner was included. Place is not easy to walk around, so keep this in mind.
