It is a very great hot spring resort with good servicing. The food is very good.

Bit in the partial suburbs but do not have to worry about the many Koryo tourists noisy, although the price is high but the service and atmosphere is first-class, especially from the hospital's loan cut open-air hot springs with streams, but do not let children stay, the general room type is actually very good, if you can live to the vision Corner room type will be better! The part of the meal, paired with an exclusive service waiter, takes two hours to get a meal, so you'll feel honored. Service from the reception to the delivery of no micro, you can feel the Japanese-style service.

Lovely once you're able to get there. We had quite a bit of trouble getting to the place as 100+km from Fukuoka airport, and some of the trains were not running due to flooding. The hotel (with limited English speaking staff) provided little assistance and the bus they recommended we take from the airport was fully booked when we got to the airport bus terminal (the hotel suggested we don't make reservations ahead as our flight might be late… bad advice! ). We ended up taking a bus to Hita and an expensive cab ride from there so as not to miss our dinner. The hotel also provides very limited transfers between the ryokan and Yufuin station. I suggest you sort out all your transportation arrangements (including contingencies) carefully if you plan to visit. The ryokan itself was charming. We booked the more luxurious rooms which came with the use of the 2 private baths, beside the small bath in the room. Meals were served in private dining rooms with nice foliage views, which was lovely in the autumn.

Amazing service, and incredibly helpful and patient staff. Private onsen, surrounded by nature, beautiful kaiseki dinner and breakfast included. An absolute must for visiting Kyushu!

Truly worth every penny. Extraordinary service and attention to detail. Private onsen in every suite. The entire staff at the ryokan exceeded all expectations for service and patience and made the entire stay amazing. The provided breakfast and dinner were delicious and works of art in themselves. Cannot recommend this ryokan enough!

I enjoyed my summer here with my family. It was quiet, in the nature, so it's a great place if you are looking to relax. Only the food all came in small fancy portions like a 5 star hotel style which I appreciated less, since I was looking for a japanese home food. Overall it was a great experience.

Gettouan Yufuin Location 3/5, Service 4/5, Food 4/5, Cleanliness 4/5 tl;dr: Overall good Ryokan, but will or will not revisit under circumstance. -pros- We booked the most expensive rooms ($800) and the staff that personally took care us did a very good job (Irina-san). We booked 3 rooms, the rooms are basically small houses. The photos you see on the webs make it look bigger than the actual thing, but it is still plenty of space. They separate standard booking and more expensive booking, with the latter getting more use of facility and better service. Lots of heating systems in the house. The Ryokan is located slightly up in the mountain, so there is really nothing to walk around. Food was kaiseki type. It was fairly good, not great but it was better than we expected. After 3 days of stay I have a feeling that this place is very good if you book a luxury type plan. The stuff/service that you get from it is very good, but the standard facilities/service feel very normal to not worth. I would return to this place with top luxury reservation, but absolutely not revisit with standard reservation. -cons- I would have given this place a 5/5, and recommend it to others if not for the disgustingly obnoxious communication before visit. It was one of the worst experience. Contacting them took forever to get a reply, then with reply that dont give you any answer (dont know why some Japan hotels do this).

Great staff service, very accommodate and helpful, the surrounding is nice, we had a pleasant stay here. Room is tidy and clean, well decorated, in a traditional Japanese style.

A hot spring hotel located off the central town area, in an very quite and garden setting, with trails for hiking. The tatami rooms are somewhat rustic (or one could say a bit old and smelly) with a small private hot spring tub. However, the most impressive were the meals which were fantastic. However, somewhat inconvenient to town. If one was looking for a very private and quite setting, this would work.
