Onomichi Hotels

Feb 2026. Very clean, and spacious rooms compared to most hotels you get in Japan.

We stayed here for 1 night while biking the Shimanami Kaido and this was our favorite hotel during our entire Japan trip.

Highly recommended!

We are touring Japan and wanted to visit Onomichi. We found this fabulous old hotel, it is run by a Japanese man and his Thai wife, both charming. The place is filled with Asian curios.

Stayed one night at this hotel while visiting Onomichi. Everything about this hotel was great.
Everyone who worked there that I came in contact with was as so friendly and so nice.

Rooms are basic but clean. Quiet. Slept well. Nice team of staff — thank you. Breakfast is fine with English breakfast tea… woo hoo! Great location. Would stay again.

Spacious and clean hotel right on the shopping street, huge projector screen, really appreciate laundry on the same level. Hotel included free Parking which was a 5 min walk away.

This hotel is great.
The room is spacious with many modern accommodations (including a TV screen projector with various streaming apps).
The room and bathroom are also great.

You can’t get a better hotel for cyclists than this. It really has everything you need; the hotel is fully geared toward cyclists who want to ride the Shimanami Kaidō.

Right outside onomichi train station! Very convenient. It is also located above 7eleven and a 2minutes walk away from the bike rental for the shimanami kaido route.

Hotel is in a very nice spot, close to the station and decently close to the Senkoji observatory. Stayed for one night and the rooftop is a great place to relax and view the sunset.

This is a great little boutique hotel — I think there are only 16 rooms. Our room (as I think all the rooms do) has a great view overlooking the Omonichi channel.

The host is incredibly nice and gracious, he cooked us some delicious ramen and then insisted on doing the dishes. The accommodations are clean and beautiful. The view from the house is terrific.

Of all my Japan travels thus far, and even Asia travels, I have never felt more welcome and at home than here.

The room was new, modernly equipped (new hairdryer, smart TV with Netflix), there was a welcome in the room — small sweets, breakfast in the morning was delicious.

I was riding the Shimanami Kaido and the Green Hill Hotel proved to be an excellent place to stay for the start. First off, it’s location is perfect.

Quiet, rather comfortable bedding, not badly located. I liked the interior design which seemed rather new and the place was clean.

Clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient location. But no staff present ever. Felt very "industrial", every interaction happened through a touchscreen at the entrance.

I stayed two nights and I didn’t want to leave! The owners are lovely people. They made us feel so welcomed and we had some good laughs. The room was clean and comfortable.

We LOVED our stay here! My friend and I stayed here two nights in a mixed dorm room and the beds were super comfortable, good sized lockers, and the breakfast and coffee were 10/10.

A real 5 star hotel. Views are spectacular, both mountains and ocean/lake. The staff are top tier, went to great length to welcome us Even when we got there almost at midnight.

Ryokan Nishiyama in Onomichi was a beautiful respite after biking the Shimanami Kaido trail.

I chose this stunning ryokan to celebrate my birthday, and it was the best decision I could have made. The hospitality was simply exceptional.

Super convenient location, very close to the port and the "main street" Shiomachi.
The staff is very nice and pleasant.

A good spot to stop along the Shimanami Kaido. More of a hostel than a hotel. Our room had bunk beds and a futon and we had to put the sheets on ourselves. Shared washroom and showers.

We had a lovely experience staying at Yoro Onsen. One of the most memorable places I stayed on my trip to Japan. Very cool retro vintage vibe. I absolutely loved the colourful details in the onsen.

If you are considering booking this spot, do not hesitate to do it. This is one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed.

This was so much better than we expected. It’s a little hard to get to via bicycle but it’s worth every sweat drop.

Stayed here with a group of friends after cycling the Shimanami Kaido. The location is perfect, down a main street in Onomichi, down an old and very beautiful alleyway.

Quiet chill environment. I'd made a mistake when booking my room and staff just got on with it and didn't make a big deal. Which is really nice when you messup like that. 😆
Can't fault anything.

Since the accommodation rate is low, the service is naturally commensurate with that price, but the rooms are well-cleaned and the food is pretty good considering the price.

Wonderful hot springs, wonderful food, and wonderful staff.
This is Ryugu Castle, where you can heal your mind and body.
Ramen at 700 yen is cheap.

Beautiful accommodation and cafe/bar, well worth the walk up the steps with a heavy backpack! The staff are so friendly. Really lovely rooms, delicious draft beer and fantastic views.

The view is, well everyone's mentioned it already.
I loved that guests could use the cafe area as a shared space, great for winding down from all the exploring. The hot lemonade was excellent.

We had a wonderful stay at Seaside Hostel Lighthouse! It’s a family-owned place run by a lovely couple, and their kindness really made our visit special.

We stayed in a twin room, it was very clean and very nice and had complementary water. The owners are extremely kind and provided us with medicine and drinks when we let slip we were sick.

Excellent host in a beautiful home! My partner and I stayed for only one night in mid-October, 2025, after completing the Shimanami Kaido.

A charming house located close to the train station, aeon, and onomichi hondori. There are also a lot of good restaurants and cafes nearby!

Our family of 4 stayed here 5 nights, in the room with 2 bunk beds. The space is tight, but there is a small couch that can seat 3 people, and having to only rent one room saved on costs.

We booked 2 nights through Airbnb after cycling the Shimanami Kaido from Imabari and it was a great spot to recover and rest.
