Highly recommend this place for a glimpse into the small town of Aizu-Yanaizu. The innkeepers were so accommodating! They picked us up from the train station because it was raining pretty hard.
I took a day trip to the hot springs on a trip. Apparently they get their hot water from a nearby temple, but the hot water was very good, flowing directly from the source and without any circulation.
A retro hotel from the Showa era. It looks old, but it's not dirty. Rather clean.

A lovely place to stay: comfy room, air con/heating as needed and access to a coffee machine in the morning.
Family owned ryokan. Lovely and friendly landlady. Son — Katuma — arranged transport as trains were cancelled because of the heaviest snow for several years.
Great place to stay and have a little more traditional hotel experience. Very kind staff, delicious breakfast and amazing bath. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed a lovely 3-night stay here. The owner and staff were so friendly and welcoming, it felt like we were staying with family.
Just finished a two nights stay here, and it was wonderful. The landlady was very nice and attentive, and the food was wonderful.

My father-in-law is a smoker, so this was very helpful.
It's right in front of the station, so Izakaya is nearby, so I come here again and again.
I also appreciate that breakfast is included.
The hotel room was fine and big enough for us with our large rucksacks. It was clean and we were able to both shower then fill the bath for a soak each evening.
It was fine. Yes, the decor in the rooms probably hasn't been updated in thirty years, but that's not what matters.
The rooms vary a lot in size, some are very small, others (twin beds) are nicer sized.
It's an old but nice & comfortable hotel.
The room is compact but large enough for a solo traveller. The mattress of the bed is what I prefer. It has two feather pillows, which gave me a good sleep.
Aizu Tsuruya Hotel offers great value if you just need a place to stay. I stayed in a room without a private bath, but the communal bath right in front was very convenient and never a problem.
1. Very close to the bus stop Shimei-Dori which highway buses and ski resort buses both stop.
2. Provides a watching machine. :D.
3. Sales delicious breads.
+ very clean place!
+ friendly host.
+ sells cute pastries during their front desk opening time too.
— far from stations.
Cool and unique stay!
I really like how spacious the place feels, it gives a welcoming and chill vibe. The details of the interior (color & design choices), lamps and fans are cool and thoughtful.
We arrived here at 9pm with a major delay thanks to a huge Shinkansen disaster. We were tired, hungry, frustrated, cold and thirsty.
Basic hotel, but the room was quite warm and breakfast good. I enjoyed the public bath. I like to walk, so no problem walking from the station, but many people had cars. Easier to drive.

This is a fantastic hotel with truly excellent food for both dinner and breakfast.
We had a very comfortable stay at Onyado Toho as we began our exploration of the Aizu region. The room was warm, clean, and cosy, which made it a perfect overnight stop after a long day of travelling.
"The front desk staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Despite occasional communication challenges, they made every effort to assist me. The room was spacious, perfect for a family.
The Ryokan room was very impressive! It was huge and not even at home we have a bed that large! You also have a wooden bathtub on the balcony with perfect view of the river.
One of my favourite onsen Ryokan in Tohoku.
The onsen areas really wins them a lot of votes for me. The onsen next to the river along is something I can sit there idle without moving much.
My family had a wonderful stay for just one night. We reserved the private Onsen at 4 pm and then had dinner at 6pm. The next morning we went to the public Onsen baths and then breakfast.
Such an amazing experience. Traditional Japanese hotel with private onsen in some rooms, and a first come first serve larger private onsen.
Wow! What an amazing ryokan. It was like a fairytale.
Nationally registered as a tangible cultural, property dating back to the mid-Edo period (1700s), it was a designated resort for the Aizu clan.
