Rises House

Superb airbnb experience. The host Rise even took extra time to arrange different experiences and tours, moreover chauffeuring us there personally. It made the whole stay more enjoyable, interesting and definitely looking forward to return again! The whole house is super organized, well equipped, spacious yet cozy. Makes us feel like home away from home! Strongly recommend Rise’s House if you are in Nishio! 😍😍

For tourists outside of Japan we can honestly say that 2 or 3 days with Rise and his hospitality will add an unforgettable and rewarding experience. Just as important, you are using what often is a limited time you have for your traveling in a well spent way. See real people of Japan and learn about a terrific town with plenty of things to pique your interest. What Rise is doing is something I hope is trying to be replicated in other parts of Japan. An authentic heartfelt experience that has a wonderful cast of characters and the daily craft of living whether it’s shrimp chip making, artisan miso production, eel farming or the youngest sake maker in Japan. Real people working to make their community and their heritage matter in a fast changing world and a fast changing Japan. So, a visit to Nishio and his beautiful home for you to stay is just the half of it. We were so well received by people and learned so much…. But most importantly, we had a great time. One of the highlights of our month long visit to Japan. Get off the beaten track a little and enjoy the hospitality of Rise and what Nishio has to offer.

My family stayed here for two weeks in October, and honestly, you won’t find better accommodation in Nishio than Rise's House, or a better host than Rise anywhere in Japan.
The house is super comfortable, spotless, and in a great location, just a short walk to the train station and the main shops.
Rise is incredibly welcoming and goes above and beyond anything we expected. Nishio itself is a great city with genuinely friendly people.
If you're staying in Nishio, Rise's House is a must. And make sure you check out Zen, Charcoal Lady, and the Miso Brewery; tell them I said hi!

My brother and I stayed here in June. It was a really cool place to stay, felt like a home away from home. Rise is a wonderful host, he makes sure you have everything you need during your stay and gives you advice on what spots to check out for food / or activities. I loved learning about the history of nishio. I now have an appreciation for miso soup now. We did the eel farm tour and it was pretty sweet to see how that whole system works. Whenever coming back to Japan, we will try to schedule another trip. Thank you for everything Rise.
Also, check out the old lady's shop across the street, she has wonderful art that I bought and she is extremely nice.

Our family of three stayed here for 2 weeks while our child attended the JPE program at a nearby school. What an incredible experience!
The accommodation is a beautiful, traditional Japanese house located in a quiet neighbourhood surrounded by historical buildings and local businesses. Clean, cozy, and equipped with all the essentials, it made us feel like we were living like locals rather than just staying in a vacation rental. The tatami mats are lovely, and the futon beds are surprisingly comfortable. I also really appreciated that there is a bathroom on each floor — a thoughtful detail that added a lot of convenience. Many small touches like these made our stay feel exceptionally comfortable and cared for.
Rise is the best host you could ever hope for. Warm, friendly, and full of personality, he welcomed us as friends and went out of his way to ensure we had the best experience in Nishio. He is quite knowledgeable about the area, offering a lot of information and recommendations for sightseeing and dining. He also speaks perfect English, making communication easy and smooth during our stay. He introduced us to the friendly neighbours, who welcomed us as if we were part of their own family. It's very easy to see how much he is loved by the local community.
We also joined many of the unique activities Rise organizes — miso factory visit, matcha experience, tatami and shrimp cracker making — all of which were exceptional and truly unforgettable.

My family of three had a very enjoyable two night stay at Rise’s House. The property is a ryokan style guest house with modern amenities. We enjoyed doing the tea ceremony, the miso tour, and making shrimp crackers experiences. We met a number of very nice and kind Nishio locals. We enjoyed a lot of delicious food at several local restaurants. Rise was helpful with contacting some restaurants to confirm they were open and make reservations.

Our stay at Rise's House was truly memorable. Rise's House is a more traditional Japanese layout similar to a Ryokan which is a nice break from the typical stay of the larger cities. We had our own space, and anything you might need for your stay. We were happily welcomed by nearby neighbors and shop owners. We were within walking distance of local attractions, restaurants, and shops. Rise was also very helpful and accommodating helping to bring us to and from the train station. He offered wonderful tours, as well as introduced us to the locals. His hospitality was refreshing. He also is fluent in English. Next time we visit we hope to try more of the activities he suggested. If you are looking for a break from the typical hustle of the city, and want to mingle more with the locals while staying at a beautiful location I highly recommend stopping in Nishio for a stay at Rise's house.

I had a wonderful stay at Rise's House. Rise was a very welcoming host. The accommodation was very comfortable with all amenities you would need including a washer dryer. Please note that the stairs are quite typical for Japanese houses in that they are quite steep but you can convert the main living room to a bed room if required. I also did the Miso tour and the Shrimp cracker tour. Which was fun and informative.

Rise's House is an absolute gem! I had the pleasure of staying 2 nights as a solo traveller in this traditional style home. With beautiful tatami mats, the attention to detail in the decor, cleanliness, and overall ambience is exceptional. Sleeping on the futon was surprisingly comfortable.
The host was very friendly and accommodating. During my stay, I visited multiple local businesses and got to have interesting chats with the locals. The language barrier was no problem due to Rise's good English and translation skills. Definitely check out the available experiences as they give a great insight into the locals' life in Nishio.
Whether you're visiting for a short stay or a long getaway, Rise's House is a place you'll want to return to again. Highly recommend!

My family stayed at Rise’s house for a week while we put our son for the international kindergarten exchange program at a local school. Rise’s house is the perfect combo of traditional Japanese culture and modern Japanese living, and tbh, one of the major reasons I picked Nishio as our destination. Rise had been a wonderful host since we first made contact and was always there to help us in every way. It was a pity that we didn’t have too much time to take more activities with Rise but we enjoyed our time in Nishio a lot due to his help! We also love the traditional textiles goods his mom made and bought a tote bag as a Mother’s Day gift. :) Thank you so much, Rise. I hope more visitors go to Nishio for the charming small city experience!

A Wonderful Stay at Rise House — A True Japanese Experience!
Our family of six recently had the pleasure of staying at Rise House in Nishio, and it's safe to say that it was a memorable experience for all of us!
From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm and beauty of this traditional Japanese house. The tatami mats created a warm and inviting atmosphere, and we truly appreciated the authenticity and attention to detail in the decor. It felt like stepping back in time while still enjoying modern comforts.
Each night, we slept soundly on the futon beds, which were surprisingly comfortable. The experience of sleeping on tatami and futon was unique and added to the overall immersion in Japanese culture. Our kids loved it too, finding the setup cozy and fun!
The location is also fantastic, allowing us to explore the charming surroundings of Nishio easily. We enjoyed visiting local attractions and experiencing the hospitality of the area.
The host was incredibly welcoming and provided us with valuable tips to make the most of our stay. They truly went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed.
Overall, we highly recommend Rise House to any family looking to experience traditional Japanese living. It was the perfect blend of comfort, culture, and warmth, making our stay truly special.

A Wonderful Experience in a Traditional Japanese-Style Holiday Home**
Last autumn, I had the pleasure of spending a few days at Rise's house with a Japanese friend. The house, built in a traditional Japanese style, was an incredible experience. For the first time in my life, I slept on a futon on tatami mats, and it was surprisingly comfortable. The house was well-equipped with everything we needed, including a washing machine and a fully stocked kitchen.
Our host was extremely friendly and welcoming. Rise offered plenty of great recommendations on local attractions and activities, which made our stay even more enjoyable. It was a perfect blend of cultural immersion and modern comfort. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to experience traditional Japanese living while enjoying all the conveniences of a well-appointed home.
I'll definitely come back again!
