Hotel Himakaso

The hotel provides a shuttle service. Guests note that the staff can pick them up from the port or drop them off at the ferry departure point upon request by phone or via a booking note. The staff show great initiative and care, such as offering guests a ride to the port so they do not miss their ferry, as well as returning items left behind in the vehicle.

The staff at Hotel Himakaso are described as very kind, friendly, and attentive. Guests describe the atmosphere as warm, comparing their stay to visiting their grandparents in the countryside. The staff show genuine care by warning guests about hot soup, offering water after a bath, and helping with luggage. The service is exceptionally polite and welcoming.

Guests are very pleased with the quality and quantity of the food, especially the seafood, highlighting the delicious sea bream (tai), octopus, fugu (pufferfish), and shrimp. Breakfasts are described as traditional and filling, with refills available for rice and miso soup. Several visitors noted that the hotel accommodates solo travelers, providing them with full-sized portions. However, one guest was disappointed that fugu was not on the menu despite seasonal expectations, and felt that ending dinner with plain white rice and soup was somewhat unusual.

The guest rooms offer magnificent ocean views that many guests describe as breathtaking. Overall, the rooms are clean and comfortable, although the hotel building is older, which shows in some wear and tear and creaking doors when opening and closing. In some rooms, windows may not close completely, and the restrooms can feel cramped. Despite the age of the building, guests find the rooms cozy and suitable for a restful night's sleep.

The hotel features a large public bath located on the ground floor. Guests note that it is very clean and pleasant, offering views of the sea and pine trees. However, there are a few drawbacks: some visitors found the bath too small or shallow (requiring one to lie down to be submerged up to the shoulders), and one guest noted that the water temperature was very high (around 43–46°C). Please note that the public bath is closed from 23:00 to 06:00.

The hotel provides a Wi-Fi environment, as confirmed in one of the reviews.

Standard amenities are provided in the rooms, including shaving kits; however, one guest noted that the razor was very dull, which resulted in a cut.

The hotel is pet-friendly; guests mention a very cute and friendly dog that lives by the hotel entrance.
