I will stay in Perugia next time. Hotels in Assisi are having problems. The best venues and views like Hotel Subasio and Hotel San Francesco are closed. Windsor Savoia is likely next. You’d be better off in an Air B&B or in Perugia.

Nice hotel, in the centre of Assisi. It has only one small elevator. The rooms are very nice and the staff are very friendly. The food and attention very good!

We stopped for lunch after a visit to Assisi, great menu at a great price. The hotel also has a sofas area to relax with Wi-Fi. Recommended.

Food was cold and very little. Service was poor and absolutely unkind … not recommended.

Bad food and unrepentant service. (They've never heard of salt).

Excellent reception by all the staff, all kind and helpful people to remedy any request of the customer, rooms tastefully furnished, wide and comfortable with fridge bar and TV, some with balcony like that assigned to me and my wife, bathroom Clean and equipped with bath towels for all uses, excellent cuisine both as quality and presentation of the dishes on the occasion of the New Year's Eve dinner while on normal days the service of waiters ready for every request, in short, a hotel that has staff from 5 Stars, Bravo, congratulations from Lauro and Josephine.

I am a a very seasoned traveler. Five Stars for the view, staff, and location. Room layouts are outdated, simple, small, and only moderately comfortable. The room serves the purpose, and it is absolutely accommodating, clean and priced appropriately for the pilgrim. I would stay there again, but not before trying other possible locations inside the city wall next. Overall this is a safe 3 Star Hotel. The key influences on my decision are the staff and the balcony view overlooking the valley, which are worth the price of air fare alone.

I wish I coukd give it 4.5 since I did have 1 complaint… but besides that I loved this place. I've been in Europe for a month and stayed at 10 hotels thus far. This is definitely in my top 2! It clean, super spacious for a single, has old world charm with modern amenities and centrally located. And my most favorite part… a balcony with breathtaking views! My only complaint… after spending several long, hot, tiresome hours exploring the city, I had to wait almost 10 mins for someone to come to the front desk so that I could get my key (which you turn in whenever you leave)

Hope one day my husband and I will go back there again. We came all the way from Australia to visit St Francis of Assisi.

We had a very nice stay at the hotel. Staff was friendly and dinner excellent. Location is great with breathtaking view and hotel has valet parking. Only minus points are slightly dated bathroom but this was a non issue for us as the cleanliness was at par.

Reception staff were helpful and polite. Thing of no small importance nowadays. Room, equipped with all the essential service, good working Wi-Fi, mini bar of standard equipment cleaning and efficient spare parts. Extensive buffet breakfast and if request brought to the table. Lunch and dinner buffet, well stocked and serviced by maids in the right amount. Possibility to have lunch or dinner a la carte.

The Windsor Savoia is located just outside the city gate on the hill side of Assisi. Fantastic views of the city below as well as the basilica. A very short walk into town and you can have amazing sunset views from the hotel balconies out on the street just in front of the hotel. Rooms are clean and relatively spacious given the historic nature of the building. If possible get a room facing the valley for incredible views from your room.

Room not very clean, bathroom old and with mold on the walls. Breakfast Buffet poor, instead of proposing the fantastic local meats and local desserts, low-quality industrial products were offered, to the extent that we went to breakfast at the bar. Staff very friendly.

Only we had lunch and it was a good service.

The name Windsor and Savoia aids in name association with much nicer hotels, but despite its epically notable location, the Hotel Windsor Savoia fails to live up to the lofty expectations set by the incredible scenery around it. And it is incredible. Windsor Savoia (and I’ll be copy/pasting that, full disclosure) is nestled at the point of a hilled switchback leading to one of the few gated entrances into the walled enclave that is Assisi. That’s Assisi, as in Saint Frances, a fact they remind you over and over and over and over again. Assisi would birth several saints, and the walled town was around for nearly a thousand years before Frances came around. Remove any of its catholic connections, and you still have one of the most impressive walled communes you’re likely ever to see. Seriously, this place is two degrees from Edoras from Lord of the Rings. There’s even a castle atop it, a fact which is oddly ignored by the tour guides on my Globus tour. Yes, odd that. As part of said tour, we stayed at the Windsor Savoia, which included a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and part of the town, including the Basilica. This is where the praise ends. Let’s start with the beds, two singles, each so microscopic, that if they were protein bars, I’d still be hungry. I think I’d rather have slept on the bars—they would’ve provided better support. I’m over six feet, not that much more, but to have my feet dangle over the edge half way up my calves was ridiculous.
