Awesome stay with Marcella and the crew at HRE in Viareggio for the first hub of our Giro d’Italia cycling tour. 8 blokes from Oz had a wonderful time. The staff were all friendly, attentive and helpful. Also a big shout out for Marcao, the cycling guide associated with the hotel. Top routes, top days, and top guy.

Staff excellent and friendly especially in the restaurant and room service. Staff in reception in the main very helpful, although a member of staff did send my husband to a pool in the afternoon when it was closed. The a la carte menu looks interesting but is not offerred for half board. The menu offered here is monotinous to say the least. The first course every night consists of pasta, risotto or soup. A particularly poor offering tonight. For the main fish, burger and chips or omelette with cheese and tomato. Not what you woud expect from a 4 star establishment. From the many thousands of recipes available I think the chef could do a lot better. Its a shame as I think this has the potential to be an excellent. After speaking to some other guests many would not return because of the food. Arrangements could also be improved on with access to pools/beach areas. Would it be too difficult to have a barman available without having to ask at reception. The bar area always looks deserted. The terraced area is completely under utilised. The hotel is rated 4 stars but has few of its own facililities.

Hotel suitable for professional meetings, beautiful conference room, equipped with more than 100 seats and projector. The hotel is located even 50 meters from the sea.

Impressive old building, nice interiors, kind of classical in feeling. Very helpful staff with good English. Rooms nice, spacious and clean. Breakfast ok-ish, not bad, not the greatest. Very close to the sea and several shops.

I follow the Ais for sommelier course at the hotel Esplanade. The hotel is beautiful, cared for in detail and elegant. The staff is always friendly and helpful.

A bit outdated but comfortable, like all Viareggio hotels have that air a little retro that do not mind. The conference room is spacious and has a valid acoustics.

Definitely not 4 star would say 3. First thing we noticed was a dirty carpet on entering the hotel, no tea and coffee in the room and breakfast very poor. Room very basic with tiny shower but good location for the amenities of viaregio. Granted the weather did not help but Viareggio itself looked little run down in places and needs more variety in places to eat as they offer the same menu.

Very nice hotel in a good location close to the beach and the many shops. Food has improved substantially since we were here 2 years ago. Can recommend the vegan salad among other dishes.

Very welcoming and clean hotel, with very nice rooms!

Spacious clean room with very helpful multi linguistic staff. Breakfast was quite poor. Great air con in the rooms however no milk for the tea. Would definitely recommend.

My first visit to Italy, April 8-22/15. I stayed in this beautiful hotel — room 405. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I returned. My room was bright, clean with an excellent view of the sea, the marina pier and the passeggio — Caffe New York. My room was serviced every day with clean towels my bed was made and the linens changed every other day. It had a kitchenette, plenty of closet space and a table. The shower had great pressure and plenty of hot water. It was quiet and I had a wonderful balcony with a bistro set and awning. I spent plenty of time enjoying the view, the birds and the sailboats/yachts that would come out of the marina. The staff is professional, helpful, kind and very patient as I do not speak Italian. Don't miss the attached restaurant where Chef Luigi made his wonderful creations that I enjoyed daily. His staff are warm and welcoming. Thank you to all of them and especially Chiara and Barbara. On my last day, the hotel had arranged a taxi to take me to the airport in Pisa. My driver was Mr. Giorgetti Gabriele — he was wonderful and I wish I would have met him on day 1. His English is excellent but his enthusiasm and knowledge of the area would have helped me immensely. I have his card and when I return, I will contact him. He would be the best tour guide. I had a wonderful vacation in this absolutely beautiful, safe place. Don't miss this part of Italy. I walked to Lido di Camaoire everyday too. A must see as well.
