I stayed here back in 2022 and absolutely loved it. I recommended it to everyone. Back then, it felt like the perfect B&B: very clean, an amazing breakfast (the kind where you almost eat your own hands, it was that good), and the location is just perfect, only 9 minutes walking to the city.
This year, however, my experience was very different. Previously, when booking through an agency, breakfast was included. This time, booking directly, I discovered that breakfast was no longer provided. Instead, I was offered a very simple “breakfast” of supermarket products such as packaged croissants, yogurts, and juice (see photos). For this, I was asked to pay an additional €16. Personally, I don’t feel this reflects what “Bed and Breakfast” normally stands for. In my opinion, it would be more accurate to call it “Bed Only” or “B& (breakfast not included). ”
The property itself is still quite clean and smells nice. However, during my stay, I noticed mold and cracked surfaces in the shower area (see photos). The staff member I interacted with was friendly, and of course the location remains excellent.
It honestly makes me sad to write this, because I used to truly love this place. But my personal experience this time was disappointing. As the saying goes: “In the past, everything was better. ”

Lovely weekend in the heart of Palermo!
BB Essenze is a cozy and super clean accomodation located just a short walk from all the main attractions. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the small kitchen with free coffee, tea, milk, and pastries was perfect for our family. A true hidden gem — we’d gladly stay here again!
