Crociferi B&B

My stay at Crociferi B&B was relaxing and enjoyable. I was looking for a B&B that was a manageable walk from the bus and train stations. An added bonus is the B&B is located in the Centro Storico, the historic center of Catania. There are many delightful cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. My room at Crociferi B&B was more like a suite with balconies overlooking the courtyard. It was spacious, pretty and comfortable. What I loved the most is that Teresa, the B&B host, made a big pot of tea for me every morning. It was the best way to start the day.
Two suggestions:
1. Google Maps walking directions from the bas and train stations take you to Via Penninello where you need to walk up a large number of steps to get to the higher elevation of Centro Storico. If you do not want to climb steps with luggage, walk over to Via Antonino di Sangiuliano. It is a vehicular road with sidewalks and it is more manageable.
2. There is a nice and clean lavenderia on Via Santa Maria della Lettera, only a 5 minute walk from the B&B. You do not need to add laundry soap. The machine adds it for you.

Do not believe website. No ac until after May we were told and who knows if that is true, terrible Wi-Fi, elevator not for guests, bathroom outside of room, all sorts of rules posted, difficulty with key getting into property, not enough outlets for adapters without taking out lamp plugs and lastly very nasty host when confronted with why there were these issues. First time this has happened to us in 25 years.

The website is false. Only AC working after may. Advertise elevators when we were told they were not working. We were told to take short showers because of water issues. The Wi-Fi kept cutting out. The entry key to the compound was problematic. Took minutes to work. After all of this the woman was very nasty to us. At breakfast no capacinno. Owner never spoke to us and made noises right where we had breakfast such as squishing water bottles and clanging dishes. We have been travelling in Europe for over 20 years and have not once had such abad experience like this. No apologies on her part. Would never recommend this place. Many rules posted on doors as well.

I can’t recommend this place enough. The host Teresa is so nice and helpful (arranged for taxi service arriving and leaving), the room was historic and beautiful and the breakfast was excellent.
The location is perfect. You can walk everywhere in the old part of town which is so beautiful. We had 3 balconies in our room, one of which looked out onto a beautiful church and at night outside tables were set up for the restaurant next door. We had the best pizza there our first night! The bed was very comfortable. We felt very safe walking around at night and Catania is so beautiful, especially at night. Thank you for your hospitality, Teresa. We hope to return some day!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Teresa's beautiful bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Leela suite and it was glorious, and such good value. We had our own roof terrace and balcony and it was perfect to sit and drink a glass of Sicilian wine and watch the sun go down over the city. Teresa was a great hostess and her breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, everything you needed to keep you going for a day of sightseeing or hiking Etna. We also loved the guesthouse for its comfort and architecture, the building and rooms are so beautiful — filled with memories of Teresa's travel adventures. We highly recommend this guesthouse and look forward to meeting Teresa again when we are back in Sicily.

We booked in January 2024 for two nights on September 2024. Three days before we were due to arrive we had a message that someone else wished to stay and they were giving the room to them. We could have stayed one night but as we were staying in Catania 2 nights we would have had to move on next day to another place at great inconvenience to us. So we had to find another place at the last minute. She recommended a place with no assistance for us. That place was full. No apologies. Just chiao. Poor service. Untrustworthy. We booked direct. Perhaps booking via an agency she may not have treated us so poorly.

Wonderful, blissful stay at Crociferi B&B! We stayed in the Leela Suite and it was so nice! The terrace view was breathtaking. Not to mention the kind host Teresa… and her dog! If you're looking for an intentional, slow tourism stay in Catania look no further than Crociferi B&B!

The B&B is great. It has a great and quiet location. We walked all over downtown from there. The ceiling of our large room was a work of art. Literally, a work of art. There is a small balcony to stand out on and watch the life on the street. There is a table and a small sofa and chairs as well as a bed in the room. And Theresa, who runs the place, is terrific. From providing the great and plentiful breakfasts, to help with booking taxis to and from the airport, to printing boarding passes and even helping us with our minimal Italian. The place is clean and there is a small fridge and a kettle to make the tea and coffee provided in the room.

What a wonderful experience staying here! Our host was incredibly helpful, ensuring we got an ealy morning airport cab. The room was huge and beautiful and the bathroom had everything needed. Would love to return to spend more time in this historic, quiet neighborhood. This street is considered the most beautiful in Catania by many.

We stayed a week there. The plane was late and we were supposed to arrive at the hotel before 9pm. We arrive at 1am next day and the owner was kind enough to wake up to open the door. That was a nice start, thanks a lot for that!
Via Cruciferi is probably one of Catania's oldest streets, dating back to the Roman Empire. Today it is pedestrian, so very quiet, yet in the city center. Via Etnea is a couple of minutes away, the duomo a few minutes more. Excellent place really.
The house… an old palazzo, to sure of the epoch. The bedroom ceiling is painted, just to make you happy when you wake up. Very large room, with a balcony, wardrobe, plenty of wall plugs to charge mobiles, computers etc. Even a large table in the center of the room for card players :-)
The breakfast, excellent, expresso, cappuccino… various kinds of cheese, bread, home made marmalade, hams, fresh orange juice, … that's just what we ate.
The lady knows her city and is willing to help. Which places are worth seeing, which guides to go to walk on the Etna (that was an experience), what are the good, real Sicilian restaurants around etc.
Excellent week, and this place was part of it. Thank you Teresa!

A very central B&B. Maybe the owner had a bad day, but we really felt unwelcomed in their B&B. She wanted to discuss with me about the PayPal fees (which shouldn’t be done by the guests), checkout time is very early and right before 10 they knock on the door to kick you out. Customer is king is definitely not lived there, so if you have an other option in Catania, go for it.

Teresa is a fabulous hostess and I can't recommend her BandB highly enough. Her breakfasts offer a variety of sweet and savoury foods and her hospitality is warm and welcoming. Our room was spacious and the bed was large and comfortable, with quality linen bedding. The BandB is situated in an ideal position, on the edge of the busy part of town but in a quiet and historic street, close to quality restaurants and many of the historic sites. We would love to come back to Cantania just to stay here again.
