Watch out for this place! We booked through Booking, it was confirmed and the money came out of the account. The owner wrote after, about half an hour that it was a mistake and that we should cancel the reservation. We tried to explain the situation on the phone but he would not speak English and just hung up! He didn't try to explain, he didn't even try to talk with us! He just hung up! This place has no respect for customers.
Wi-Fi comes and goes as it pleases… like the warm water. Television doesn't work.
Garage doesn't close/lock.
Decor took me back to my childhood. (I'm 46… that's not a good thing)

Electricity is a new thing here… if you boil a kettle and use a Toaster at the same time… you're off the grid.

View from the balcony is unmatched. Rooms were clean. Therefore… 1 star.
*one of the chairs on the balcony has 3 legs… seriously?!

This place could be a lot better if they tried a bit more. For starters, it’s far from town and the nearest grocery story. They should make an effort to mention this for people traveling without cars. Second and perhaps our biggest problem, there’s not washer. Being that this place is so remote, this is a big issue for us as we were hoping to be able to wash our clothes and now we’re resorting to washing everything by hand in the sink.
Then there’s the internet problem. Currently as I’m typing this and since about 11pm the night before, there is no internet. This normally wouldn’t be a problem since we’re out exploring but today was our resting day and my teenagers are like junkies without their fix.
I’m using my digital SIM to post this.
Personally, if I was in charge of this rental, I would fix the washer and internet issue. The outdated kitchen doesn’t bother us but some people do mention it.
I would also make sure to mention front and center how far they’re from town and how far from the grocery store, which is actually quite far considering that the one in Varenna has a very limited supply and very pricey.
Overall it is a beautiful location and the owner or person in charge did communicate though he likes to reply to people’s reviews with snarky comments, perhaps he shouldn’t work in the service industry. He could learn a lot from some top hosts.
