Efficient checkin and helpful to set up a second day bed for us as we are 2 friends travelling together. Quiet as we had a room in the back. Bathroom door latch did not lock very well. Shower water at end of day was cold water only. We did shower earlier one day and had warm water. Friendly staff. Well situated in the city.
I can't even begin to describe everything that happened.
The person who welcomed us was incredibly rude and didn't speak any English, so my girlfriend had to use her limited Italian and Google Translate to communicate with him.
To our surprise, he asked for our identity cards. Even though my girlfriend has a valid EU identity card (She travelled with it), he refused to accept it because she was born in the Middle East. It was unbelievable that they wouldn't accept her EU card just because of her place of birth. To avoid any further problems after our long journey to Rome, she showed him her passport. Even then, he hesitated and insisted on seeing a passport from her birth country, which she didn't have! It was an absurd request, so we had no choice but to leave. Then he was like "ok give me that passport", it was clear that he was unhappy with us.
Before we could even unpack, he insisted on getting payment for our stay in both cash and card. We went along with it, thinking it was a normal procedure.
Finally, when we settled into our room after a tiring journey, we were just about to fall asleep when we heard a loud argument in Italian. Soon after, there was an aggressive knock on our door, and someone demanded that we open it immediately, speaking in English. When I opened the door, a police officer stood there, showing me his ID card. He glanced inside the room without saying anything and left.

The bed is uncomfortably hard. There is no tv, don't trust the pictures. Also no phone. Old-fashioned decoration, though we could live with that. Clean. The shower is nice. The airco didn't work. There is no breakfast lounge or anything like that. When we complained we were given a very small compensation. Insists on being paid for city taxes in cash? The surroundings of Termini are unpleasant in the evening. Check out my picture for the "city view" part.
